Yes stretchmarks ran in my family with me, mo and, grandmom. As far as weight is concern my mom gained a lot of weight in her pregnancies and my grandmom said she did too. I did gain a lot with my first pregnancy but learned better with the 2nd one. The baby's weight varies. My mom gave birth to 2 big babies one was 9 pounds 7 oz and the other was 8 pounds 10 ounces, my grandmom gave birth premature to one of her babies, and the other 2 were normal weighing in at 6 pounds and the other at 7 pounds 1 oz. I delivered one at 7 pounds 4 ounces and 8 pounds. We all had extreme morning sicknesses. We all could not wait till due day.

I don't know about my grandmother's pregnancies, but I know all about my mom's.



I had horrible stretch marks; my mom didn't have any (lucky!) We both had really bad morning (noon and night) sickness. We both had cravings for guacamole and couldn't stand the smell of coffee. She was on time with her first baby (me), but my brother was nearly 2 months premature; my daughter was born at 39 weeks and 3 days. I was born October 15; my girl was born February 15--this is the only way my brother remembers both of our birthdays. I weighed 8 lbs., 7 oz.; my daughter weighed 8 lbs., 8.2 oz. We also both had emergency c-sections because neither of us dilated more than 7 cm.



I wonder if these things are coincidental or what...

My mother and grandmother ended up with loads of stretchmarks. Mine weren't so bad. My mother delivered me 10 days late and I delivered my daughter 10 days late. My grandmother delivered my mother 10 days early. Its kind of crazy if you think about it.

I think I was the exception to the rule with my family. My grandmother, mother, sister, and his mother didn't have morning sickness at all or just at the very beginning. I on the other hand, was fine the first three months. But was sick the rest of the pregnancy. My doctor ended up having to put me on Zofran to keep the sickness at bay. It was to the point that I was getting sick about 18 to 20 times a day. No fun at all.

With me, my mom was almost 4 weeks late having me, and my two brothers were like a week or two early and she got alot of stretch marks with all of us...When I had my baby, I had her 2 weeks early and I only gained 2 lbs ( mom gained atleast 30 with each one of us) and I only got 2 stretch marks...my baby weighed 5 lbs. 11.6 oz, and my brothers and I all weighed atleast 6 lbs.But like my mom with all 4 of her pregnancies (she miscarried 1 before I was born), I never had morning sickness!

Strechmark: One tiny one. Im the only one that can notice it

Morning sickness: No, thank god! It was a great pregnancy!

Birth: around 7 hours. It was not too bad, naturally

Birth weight: She was 6 lbs 4 oz, 19 ins

I delivered her one day after her due date.



Mom's pregnancy

Strechmarks: Also one tiny one (after 2 kids)

Morning sickness: None

Births: All under 4 hours, naturally

Birth weights: Me around 7 lbs, brother around 8 lbs

my mom was a couple weeks late having me. i was 7lbs 9.5oz & 21inches long. my mom wasnt in labor very long at all with me. not sure about her stretch marks or morning sickness. my pregnancy with my daughter. i had morning sickness really really bad the first 4 months (i lost 20lbs!) my daughter was born on her due date. she was 8lbs 7.5oz & 22.5inches long. i started having contractions 23hours before i gave birth to her. thankfully i pushed less then 15minutes & she was out.

I had stretch marks and my mom didn't. I delivered Susie a day before my due date after being induced. My mom had all of us 36-37 weeks with the exception of my oldest sibling who was a 40 week+ baby. We were all 6 lbs and my daughter was 7lb 4 oz. I had morning sickness really bad to the point of hyperenemesis gravidarum. My mom had none.

Yeah i got horrible stretch marks and no one else in my family did either. Also i was the only one who didnt have any sickness at all. All the babies were right around 8 pnds though my daughter was 8.5 and my nephew is 8.6 :)

my pregnancies were totally different from my mom's 3 pregnancies. she had high blood pressure during her pregnancies. she hospitalized for the last bit of her pregnancy with my sister. she almost lost me when she was 7 months pregnant. was on bed rest with my brother. she had 3 c-sections and all of us were small babies 5lbs, 5lbs 10oz, 5lbs 11oz.

me on the other hand..had natural births, no complications, gained weight fine, and age average sized babies 7lbs 13oz and 7lbs 5oz. i didn't get any stretchmarks like my mother which was probably the only thing that was the same.

my sister had complications too. she had gestational diabetes. she had premature babies..my nephews were 3lbs 9oz and 2lbs 5oz. so we were all different.

Thankfully my pregnancy was nothing like my mother's, i didn't have any stretch marks(on my belly). My mother was a partier so god only knows how her pregnancy was, i did however weight the same has my son, and my grandmother had 7 kids and she past before i really knew her.

im nothing compared to my mother!! i was 6 weeks early and weighed 2lb 2 oz.
my first daughter was 2 weeks early and weight 7lb 5oz lol
i didnt look pregnant till i was 7 months then suddenly ballooned. looked at pictures of my mum when she was pregnant and she was tiny!
i had cholestasis my mother didnt my gran didnt neither of them had stretch marks badly and neither of them ballooned so completely different!

mine was totally differnet my mom weigh almost eight, my grandmothers stretchmarks didnt get bad until her last day, she had my mother a week late. My mother had me i was 6lbs 5oz and her stretchmarks were horrible. i was almost 3 weeks late. My child weighed 4lbs 15oz,i had noticable strech marks after 4 months and i was forced to have her 2 weeks earli..

Totally different! My mom and grandma had zero stretch mark and had teeny tiny 6 lb babies!
I had stretch marks GALORE and big babies! both were right at 8 lbs!

They both had natural births while I had C-sections for both.

idk my mom doesnt talk to me so i dont get to ask her anything like that or whatever but i know my first isnt like hers my first my labor was 10 min thats it fast and easy and all that and she was 4lbs and my second was 15 hours and he was half an oz from 7lbs i believe and i think i was a 6lb baby but idk for sure i cant remember

I didn't get any stretch marks at all, but I had the family Horrible Non Stop MOrning Sickness. My son was late, most babies in my family were early. But I went into preterm labor like, 5 times with him. Highly atypical, and major suckage.

Everyone was surprised how hard of a time I had.

umm i would have to say mine was somewhat different from my mothers. my labor didn't hurt and i delievered a smaller baby. similarities though were both had stretch marks, all babys had a bunch of hair and what not. i gained less weight and idk. i would say we didn't have much in common. i had a pregnancy rash and she didn't

Hi my mum was in hospital for 2wks wen having me she was in a lot of pain and wasnt aloud to get out of bed,luckily for me givin birth to my daughter wasnt as bad as every1 was tellin me i didnt need pain relief i didnt scream my labour lasted for 4hrs but my pregnancy was hard i was very ill couldnt eat and was vomiting alot.as for strtch marks mine arent that bad but my mums are lol unlucky mum.

My pregnancy mirrored my moms with me in a lot of ways. My mom had me on her birthday August 6th. My little girl came August 10th. No morning sickness, minimal stretchmarks, no typical complaints. I was 2 weeks early, my baby was almost 2 weeks early. I was 5 lbs 15 1/2 ounces, my baby was 5 lbs 2 ounces. The only real difference was my baby had her cord wrapped around her neck so she was a c-section, whereas I was not.

I dont really know about my grandmother, I was to young to really ask her that when she was still around. My mother, on he other hand, had three girls. Her first was 6lbs or so, I was almost 8lbs, and the last was extremely preemie (28 weeks) and weighed a whopping 1.5lbs. First of all, mine was different from all of them because, well, I had twins. But i guess I could say it was kinda like my moms cause of the morning sickness and the preemies (33 weeks), but at the same time, it was completely different.

Well I don't know about the stretch marks, mine weren't that bad just in the last week of my pregnancy they started coming. When my mom was pregnant with me she had preeclempsia and I was somewhere in the 5lb range. I also had preeclempsia and delivered a month early my daughter also being 5lbs 12oz. My mom delivered me a month early as well. I was her second child (apparently preeclempsia is more common with baby number one). So we did have similarities in our pregnancy I guess you could say.

Stretchmarks: I got none, mum a lot and gran only a few, Birthweight: fairly the same. Due Dates: my baby girl came 2 weeks too early, I was born @ 8 months with an emergency c-section (so my mom had me a month to soon) and well I'll have to ask my mom about gran - she passed away and had 6 kids. I also had a natural "normal" birth and mom had to have c-sections with both, gran had normal births with all 6. ;-)

My folks had trouble conceiving - we didn't actively try. My mother was 5 weeks late giving birth to me, which resulted in an emergency c-section (my sister was a scheduled c-section); my first pregnancy resulted in being induced 3 weeks early followed by an emergency c-section, and my second was a scheduled c-section (but moved up 36 6/7 weeks due to preclampsia from the 39 week mark). I think the reason for the big difference is that I'm diabetic while not pregnant, and my mom is one of the few middle aged (and older) people in our family NOT diagnosed with it, in addition to blood pressure problems coming from my dad's side. Mom and I both craved spicy foods the entire time for the first time around.

Us Knight women (my mother's side) tend to have big babies, I think the smallest being at 6 lbs. 8 oz. and the biggest at 10 lbs. 13 oz. (though I think my 10 lb. preemie would have taken the record had he been allowed to cook a bit longer LOL).

All of my pregnancies were different. With my first child I did not have morning sickness at all! With my second pregnancy I had morning sickness but it only lasted a few months. Plus, I was very emotional. And with my third and last pregnancy I had morning sickness until a few months before I had her! But the one thing that was the same with all three was that I had them all early. I don't know alot about how my mom felt or anything when she was prego but all 3 of her kids were born late! My older sister was born almost a whole month late! And my middle child was born 5 weeks premature!

thanks for all the feedback..looks like pregnacy is very unpredictable! lol. ALOT of you and your mothers as a far as delivering early or late seemed similar..and that is what i really hope it true for me! I'd love to go early like my mom/grandmal..but really really hope i dont go late! haha. Thanks again!

TOTALLY different. I was my moms fourth child and still two weeks late, my first son was only 3 days late, and from water break to toes was 44 hours! and Carter, my second son, actually went 2 weeks late, and I self induced, i was 8cm when i got to the hospital and within 2 hours was holding by 8lb 14oz baby!

my pregnancy was different than my mothers...my mother delivered my older sister and i 2 months early, had no stretch marks and my little sister my mother gave birth to her on the due date..my pregnancy i delivered my baby a week over due and i got stretchmarks, but not bad, but u can still tell that i got them, which sucks but its ok

Mine was exactly the same as my mums with me. I was 1 week over, as was mum, I weighed 6lbs 13 and so did my daughter and also my mum, sister and myself all had to have c sections. I suffered really badly from stretch marks but I don't think my mum did. That was really the only thing we differed on lol.

Birthdays: I was 2 weeks early, my sister one week.

Labor: Both labors were less that 4 hours start to finish!

Birth weight: i was 7lbs 9 oz and my sis was 7lbs 1 oz.

Nausea: also very mild

My grandma, well, she gave birth to 10 children, none twins, so her pregnancies were all over the map!!

my pregnancy was very different to my mums. for starters i was in labour for 7 hours, the shortest labour my mum had was 24 hours, my mum got pretty bad stretch marks, i got 2 tiny unoticeable stretchmarks (one on each side), my sister and i were both a minimum of 2 weeks premature, yet my daughter was 4 weeks overdure, and for size?? my daughter was born 5lb9, i weighed 6lb9, my sister 7lb11. my mum also suffered really bad morning sickness when pregnant with both me and my sister, i only suffered mild nausea. so yeah...very different

My mother's pregnancies were a walk in the park compared to mine. They couldn't have been more different if we tried. But I pre-eclampsia which my mother never had. My labour was a little longer than my mothers but only just ! We all have fast labours in my family, the hospital learnt the hard way there despite many warnings ! It will be interesting to see if I can have a good pregnancy next time, and how similar it is to my mothers !

Due date- I was induced two days earlier than my due date, but I have a feeling he would have been late!
Birth weight- 6lbs 6oz

My mom's pregnancy with me:
Stretchmarks-no
Due date- 1 week late
Birth weight- 7 1/2lbs

There is also a 10 year difference in when my mom had me & when i had my son. My mom was 35 when I was born & I am 25 (my son was born 5 months ago). She put on more weight than I did with my son. I don't remember her mentioning any morning sickness or anything, but I had night sickness with my son. Her labor was longer than mine...she pushed for like 3 hours & I only pushed for 15 minutes. :)

birth weight- mine? lets say it was WAY more than my sons...

my grandma:
stretchmarks- none (also 3 kids)
due date- early also
birthweight- N/A (they never kept a record of it and cant remember)

i think the only reason i had stretchmarks was because i was all belly. i packed about 50-60 lbs in the midsection by the end of my pregnancy. my mom and grand claim it is because i didnt bind my stomach after my sons birth but i had them immediately after giving birth so i dont see how that would have helped much. ha!

Well my mom was adopted, so I don't know about my grandma's pregnancy. As for me and my mom... when my mom was pregnant with me (I'm the first) she threw up a lot, only got one or two stretch marks, and carried full term. I weighed 8lbs 13oz. After that she got pregnant with twins, and gained a bunch of weight, so they obviously gave her more stretch marks. She had them a month early and they weighed 7.12 and 6.11 respectively.

For me, I've only had one pregnancy, and it was most similar to my mother's first. I puked ALL THE TIME, didn't get any stretch marks, and I delivered four weeks early. My son weighed 6lbs 14oz.

My pregnancy was the exact same as my mum, constantly sick, heart burn. only thing different was i didnt get any stretch marks, she had me a week late and depends whos due date you go off, mine i had my little girl 3 days early, or the dr's i had her 2 weeks early. Even the labours were the same, VERY quick and next time i probably need to camp at the hospital to make it in time. We both even had grazes the nurses wanted to stitch, but we both refused. All in All they were quite similar :)

Birth weights now are a lot higher than they used to be because women take much better care of themselves. An example is that my grandmother smoked through all of her pregnancies and drank red wine through them (they thought it was okay then) and my mom was the heaviest of her 4 children at about 6 lbs. My mom didn't get stretch marks until me (baby number 2) and I didn't get any until after baby number 3. My mom's second child, however, weighed the exact same thing as my second child...a testament to our consistent hippie ways. :-)

Well the pregnancy for my mom was totally different as far as symptoms, she had morning sickness the ENTIRE pregnancy, I didn't.

My mom had both my sis and I two weeks late, I delivered my first two weeks late.

The labor itself, I'm not sure, I believe her's was much better than mine, mine was longer and needed help in the end.

For stretch marks I think were about the same.

For the baby weight, I think we were the same, just off but a few oz.

Well... my mother had almost no problems during her two pregnancies. My sister was born about a week early (I think), but she was in labor for only 4 hours (with pitocin, although she was not induced) and they had to use forceps. She had a normal recovery and not many stretch marks. With me, my mom went into labor about a week late (I think). She went into false labor once, but then when she went into REAL labor, she didn't realize it because it "didn't hurt that bad". After 4 hours I was born (no pitocin and no forceps). My sister weighed 7 lbs. even and I weighed 9 lbs. 4 oz., so my mom got a few stretch marks from me.



I have extremely bad stretch marks. My son weighed 8 lbs. 7 oz. after being induced a week early. I was in labor for 23 1/2 hours. I ripped horribly, so my recovery time was longer. I was also borderline pre-eclamptic, which is why I was induced. I had a hard pregnancy, and I'm currently pregnant with #2... which is turning out to be a bit harder than with my son. I tend to have a LOT of nausea issues, and throw up a lot. I never actually threw up with my son... with the exception of when I had the kidney stones while pregnant (which they can't do anything for).



So, yeah... extreme differences between my mom and I. I think that made the pregnancy with my son so hard. I lived with her at the time, and she literally could not understand what it was like to have a less-than-perfect pregnancy.



One thing that has been exactly the same with my mom and I, though... explosive anger issues due to hormones! We've both literally jumped at people and our respective husbands have had to hold us back. We're NOT like that when we're not pregnant, though.

Mine was more like my sisters actually, both had morning sickness but once that went away we both were not able to eat meat. We both ended up having to have C-sections although hers was an emergency and mine was not just was not progressing anymore. I was only 3 days late and she was a week late. My mom was late on all 4 of her pregnancies.

Really the only thing I had in common with my mom and grandmother (and great grandmother) was that we were all the oldest daughter, and had them young. My grandmother was 16 (i believe), my mother was 17, and I was 18. And my youngest daughter was 7'4 at birth as was my youngest sister. Interestingly, it is my mom's half sister that my pregnancies have resembles the most. We both had a boy first who was born approx 5 weeks early due to toxemia. We both carried our second child to term (both daughters), but I deveoloped toxemia during labor and she had a c-section after showing warning signs. Then her third daughter was born at 26 weeks, and I was told that I would develop toxemia again just a matter of when. I was put on asprin and iron, which worked and I never did get toxemia...my third daughter was born on her due date but it was stressful wondering when whe would come. I felt like a ticking time bomb.

As far as genetics go, strech marks are genetic. As our skin elasticity is something we inhereit. But as far as sickness, labour, baby size, that is all individual to your own body. No proof of a genetic connection in those areas. But, you can gather information from your family's experiences, and their advice, and aply that to your labour and pregnancy. I found some of the best advice came from my mother and aunts that had children. But be sure to google thier advice too, and i had one aunt tell me to give my newborn suger water, because thats what she did like 40 yrs ago with her kids......ummmm.....sugar....bad!! ha ha ha

i was in in early labour for 3 days, 10.5 hours established labour. My mums was 12 hours with all 3 of her kids. My DD was 9 days overdue, Mum delivered 1 on time, 1 6 weeks early and myself 5 weeks early.Also my sister has a little girl who was showing no signs of coming at all, and at 11 days Overdue was induced. I was covered in stretchmarks, also my sister got lots and mum had none! Of corse the birth weights vary alot because of the times of arrival.

I was in labor 20 hours with my first one. When the doctor came in and said " Didn't I have to cut you out of your mama." I replied Yes sir. He said, "Well thats what i'm going to have to do to get your tiny one here." At 17 being in all that pain I was up for anything. I have had the blessing of the doctor that delievered me, delievering all three of my boys. He retired 7 months after my three year old was born. Also My Grandmother, my father's mother, had 3 boys, just like I did. With their ages almost as similar to mine. I'm glad someone eles thinks about these kind of things too. Also we all had stretch marks, but I've been told in Psalms in the Bible, the lines on a womens belly is wisdom. So I'm pretty happy with mine.

hi....my pregnancy was totally different than my mother's and grandmothers...they all seem to be woman made to have children, no stretch marks, my mom needed c-sections 'cause we were all huge babies, great health after that..even my sister who was a teenage mom twice, had no need of pain killers and had them both naturally...I was there for the second birht and it was awesome!.

I have one daughter....I was a normal pregnant woman, lot's of cravings in the middle of the night, the usual morning sickness for the first trimester. I made sure I had almond oil on hand..my belly was always oily and shinny...I had a few spottings here and there and by the 6th month I was exhausted after a regular walk...By that time I had no insurance so my doctor's visits where very limited.

I remember noticing a little cold sore on my husbands lip after we went hiking the day before....But I kissed him anyways...a week after I was down with a super high fever, 7 moths pregnant and found out I was primarily infected with herpes (never even had yeast infections)...My water broke right after the first outbreak started and ran to the E.R to be submitted in the hospital for 4 days...the doctors wanted to keep me 'till at least my baby was 37 weeks...I was 27 weeks...

After the 4th day I got an emergency c-section and saw my little tiny baby for a couple minutes before she was taken to the NICU...All I did in those minutes was to make sure she was breathing, counted her fingers and toes ( could not help it) and gave her a kiss.

She was there for 2 months..I could not breast feed her, my husband had to travel to mexico constantly and yeah..I looked fabulous after being pregnant, lost weight very fast, lost my new big breasts in a couple months haha..the c-section was tiny and very discrete....But I was in the NICU every single day watching my baby grow and get stronger every day so nothing of that really mattered....Just watching my baby starting from getting through the day to growing fast and adjusting her age immediatelly....It was hard but wonderfull at the same time. :)

My dad's mom had stretch marks, mom's mom didnt. mom had minimal, I had none. Birth weight was TOTALLY different. Dad was 6.7, Mom was full term and only 4.7. My older sister was 7.4, 4 days early. I was 9.9, one day early, and my little sister was 6.5 one day late. My son was 8.6 and 2 days early. : )

hi there! so compared to my mom - well, both of us had trouble conceiving, my mother had to be induced with both my brother and i (we were both a week late) my baby came right on his due date naturally though. my birth weight was 7lbs 9ozs and my brother was 8lbs...my son was 7lbs 13ozs....both my mother and myself were told throughout most of our pregnancy to expect very large babies (be prepared for c-section) and neither drs were right about that...thankfully! and stretch marks...i didn't get any until the last week so they are minimal..not sure about my mom though.

It depends. My pregnany was more like my dad's mom than my mom. Both my grandma and myself hald really bad morning sickness that did not go away at 3 months, delivered on the due date or afterwards, and had larger babies (over 9 lbs.).I dunno about the stretch marks but I have them really bad. My mom had gestational diabetes so was induced early, didn't have any morning sickness, and I was only 7 lbs. My brother was a bit bigger though, 9 lbs.
