Gender predictor thing

I was talking with one of my girlfriends a few weeks back and we started talking about the "Gender Prediction Chart" aka "Chinese Gender Chart" and she was telling me about a little test you could do that may predict if you will have a girl or boy. She says you can kinda plan it also. So I asked her about it and she said she was hanging with other young moms that know their exact month of conception / how old they were when they conceived their babies. So they decided to run the test and see if it was actuate. So they took their year (i.e I was 21 when I conceived my son) and added the month they conceive in (i.e. I conceived in march so that is the 3rd month) SUBTRACT ONE FROM SUM and it looks like this { 21 + 3 = 24 - 1 = } so she says that if you come out with an EVEN NUMBER then you will have a GIRL but if you come out with and ODD NUMBER then you will most likely have a BOY.

What I wanna know is HOW ACCURATE IS THIS THING? Can a bunch of you please do your math for in the reply box so I can compare all results and see what percentage of accuracy We come out with?

It is supposed to be 90% accurate but a survey done in 1999 said that it is less then 75% accurate.

So lets see what we come up with?!?! =)

Age of Conception + Month you Conceive in = NUMBER - 1 = EVEN (GIRL) ODD (BOY)

P.S. My LMP before I got pregnant was the end of Feb 2009 but I KNOW I that I didnt have sex until Mid-March and I count it as that and not from Feb. Same as my friends.

Just thought you guys might want to know that.

My elder son I had him when I was 19 give birth in Aug so count bk is conceive in Nov
19+11= 30-1 = 29 (Boy)
My younger son I had him when I was 22 give birth in Nov so conceive in Dec
22+12 = 34-1= 33 (Boy)

21+07=28-1=27 boy so it was right there. According to this pregnancy I should have a girl. (22+03=25-1=24) so we shall see if this us correct in November when I am due!

My sister in law is due in a few days. She is having a boy! I did the math and it is right, it came out to be an odd number.

No, it didn't work for mine. My son was conceived in March after my 30th birthday, which comes out to an even number. Sorry.

I conceived when I was 24 and it happened in August which means 24+8=32-1=31 which means I should of had a boy and I had a girl sorry but with that its wrong.

For my first, 18 +1-1=18 (even) Wrong! I had a boy.

Second, 20+4-1=23 (odd) Right! I had another boy.

Third, 24+3-1=26 (even) Wrong again! I had another boy.

Fourth, 28+6-1=33 (odd) Right! :) I had another boy.

So for me, it was 50% correct.

for my son it was march and I was 19 so that is 19 + 3 = 22 - 1 = 21 so that sounds about right and odd number and i had a boy now for my daughter I was 23 + 2 (feb) = 25 - 1 = 24 and thats even so looks like it was right for me...kinda cool I found a chart on the net though where i put in my age and month of conception and i did it a bunch of different times for my daughter and over half said boy and only a couple of time i did it that it said girl...just thought i put that out there

Jo, this doesnt seem to work for everyone but I do see from the previous replies from people that for the most part it has worked for most of the woman on here. Also, out of the 20 people I asked on facebook, I did not get anyone to say that it did not work for them. It worked for me also. I am not sayin 100%. No, not at all. I just wanted to see what % I'd come out with if I have 100 People do this thing. I guesss you could say, its a fun little test! So no need to get wored up about it.

Hi
Doesn't sound all that legit to me, but here goes:
My first child, I conceived when I was 22, in March (3rd month) - so 22+3-1 = 24, which should be a GIRL, but nope it was a BOY (Joel, now aged 3)
My second child, I conceived at age 24, in March, so 24+3-1 = 26, so it should be a GIRL, bit once again it was a BOY (Jamie, now aged 16months!)

So it certainly hasn't worked in my case. Plus, does that mean that if I'm now 26, and I want to have a girl next that I should plan to conceive in Jan, March, May, July, September or November? I don't really see how it can be more than a fluke.

26 + 7 = 33 - 1 = 32 I had my daughter
27 + 7 = 34 -1 = 31 I had my son
So this was 100% right for me.

Both of mine are right! I actually checked the Chinese gender predictor when I was pregnant with my daughter, and it was right. I think it would be better to say its 50/50.

I was 21 when conceived and the month was june so 6...= 27-1 is 26...we had a girl. but the chart said we would...I didn't know about the chart until after we had our daughter. But they are only 50/50....

23+8-1 = 30..but I had a boy. HOWEVER I had a period in September that they said I shouldn't have been able to have...so I really threw things off since according to my first ultrasound I was already pregnant when I had that period...so my ultrasound date and my lmp date made me a week off...so if you consider 23+9-1 = 31 then it's right! I had to have conceived in August I feel because of how far along I was...lol.

Kinda fun. Thanks!

19+4+ 23 (Not 13, lol) - 1 = 22 was it a girl?

I was 19 and conceived in April so 19+4= 13-1= 12, so it should have been a girl...well, I have a boy. I'll test it again when we conceive baby #2. I don't put much stock into it though.

i know it doesn't work well with heavier woman but i've been told you can tell what a woman is having by looking at her from behind.....if you can't tell she's pregnant it's a boy and if you can it's a girl. This theory worked for me and a friend, we were pregnant at the same time...she had a girl in January of '09 and i had a boy in February of '09.

Has anyone else heard of this and if so, did it work for you?

I actually don't know whether I conceived my munchkin in August or September but anyway....
19+8=27 27-1=26 -girl
19+9=28 28-1=27 -boy
I had a boy.

If you want a decent chance at choosing the sex though you should find out when you ovulate. If you want a boy you should be TTC much closer to ovulation. Male sperm (Y) can live for up to 3days, whereas female (X) sperm can live for up to 5days, but male sperm swim faster (X sperm carry more genetic material which makes them slower).

Christine, ... why are you so positive that you will be having a girl? I know many woman, my closest friend included, that were told a number of times that they were having a specific gender but had something else. That usually happens when a woman is prego with a boy buy the ultra sound doesnt see the male parts or the baby is hiding them so they tell you its a girl. But my fried was pregnant with a girl and was told 5 times she was having a boy and she bought all of the boy clothes and stroller carseat set and painted the room boy colors. she was 1 week over due when she had another ultra sound and they said, ""Well, it looks like you boy has now turned into a girl. either that or the male parts fell off." the doctor joked with her about it but she was very upset cuz she had everything ready for a boy. Be careful that doesnt happen to you.

I did that chinese gender thing when I was pregnant with my daughter. I was wrong....that along with most of my symptoms (old wives tales) were saying that I was having a boy. However my gut feeling was right about her being a girl.
Age of conception: 25
Moth of conception: 3
-1=21 (Boy....nope!)

What is more accurate is this. If you are wanting to have a specific sex you:
for a girl, you would have sex as often as possible up until 2 days before your ovulation day. For a boy, only have sex the day before and the day of ovulation. There are fewer female sperm but they are much stronger so they last longer. There are tons of male sperm but they are weak so they die off quickly. I'm not sure myself how accurate this is since we didn't care what sex it is so we just had sex every other day and got pregnant on our first try. But it does make a lot of sense to me and we will be using this method when we try for our next since we would like a boy next time.

Conceived at 27 in October (27+10-1=36) had a girl.....then Conceived at 28 in November (28+11-1=38) had a girl.

[deleted account]

It was right for my daughter and it says I'm having another girl. I'll know if it is accurate when this baby is born and they say "It's a girl!"

I was 28 when I conceived, in June so that's 28+6=34 (-1) = 33, which is right! I had a boy in February! :) hmmm crazy!

Age of Conception + Month you Conceive in = NUMBER - 1 = Positive (Girl) OR Negative (Boy)
