Gerber graduate snacks around the clock: Is it harmful to the infant?

Now that my son can handle solids, his father constantly feeds him those Gerber graduates. At first, they were supposed to be a snack for in the car. Now it seems like anytime the kid whines he gives him a handful, if he is walking in his walker he gives him a handful or if we are eating he gives him a handful. I'm not comfortable with him constantly eating because I don't want him to develop bad eating habits in the future. Am I worrying unnecessarily?

Most kids start off snacking throughout the day...and really that's the best way to eat...a little bit every couple of hours. So long as he is eating healthy snacks, your son will be fine.

the gerber snacks are great and handy, but I would try to offer different snacks as well, like cheerios, cheese and soft fruit and veggies. I bought some disposable bowls with lids and premade some snacks every couple days and just passed them out when my youngest got hungry:)

Cheerios are a great alternative to Gerber snacks. You can get many different flavors and almost all of them have less sugar and sodium than the Gerber stuff.

I wouldn't be a super huge fan of that. Not because of the eating habits baby might be forming, but Gerber snacks are really high in sugar. I do agree if you are eating, baby should be eating as well, it starts a habit of eating as a family, but maybe cut up small slices of apples or other fruit to have on hand...try to get Dad to feed baby that instead.

Its think its ok for them to snack, as long as they still eat their regular meals. If you don't like it being the gerber snacks all the time (like i personally wouldn't) try to have other healthier real snacks on hand. If your bf/hubby is like mine they don't really think and do whats easiest for him, so I had to start having cooked veggies, soft fruits, cheese slices, etc.. on hand so he could start feeding him things other than cookies and crackers.

So long as his dad isn't substituting the snacks for the meals, it's fine. The only thing is that you don't want to create the habit that if your child whines or cries he gets what he wants because it can easily transition from food to pacifying in general.

Personally I wouldn't let my child eat them all the time, just because its Gerber does not mean it is actually healthy to eat all the time. Like all things they are fine in moderation. There are other things your husband can give your baby.

I dont think its a big deal. my kids seemed to think they could live on them. As long as he is still eatting and drinking his normal meals/milk I wouldnt worry. my husband did the samethign with our girls and I freaked but if they are Gerbers they have things that are healthy in them. Atleast its baby food and not something weird like chips.
