Ok so my daughter is 7 1/2 months and has only slept thru the night 3 or 4 times since birth. Our doctor told me to do the "wait 5 monutes the first time she wakes up before you go in, 10 monutes the 2nd, etc. and put her down with water and thats all she gets in the night".

She eats solids and eats a good amount during the day. Could it be she just still wants to visit in the night? Does anyone have any tricks or tips on how you got your child to do it? I am going to try the doctors suggestion but i just cant quite bring myself to let her cry (im a sucker that way, probably why she still gets up).

I would have to say let them cry it out. Both of my children were sleeping through the night by 4-5 weeks old. I never had this probelm that is until my son got a little older and I had my daughter. If he heard me up with her in the middle of the night he thought that was an invitation for him to get up as well. But they say that once you know that they aren't really hungry and don't need to eat then let them cry until they can comfort themselves back to sleep 5-10 minutes was a rule that I always heard. Hope that you get some sleep!

THanks for the advice! She always eats in the night, but I know the Dr. said she doesnt need the calories judging by what she eats in the day so I think Im just gonna have to go ahead and do it. Ill put my mommy pants on and go for it.
