has anyone ever used gripe water for their babies?

I have not used gripe water, but what workes wonders for my little 6 month old is little tummies, it's almost immediate I would say! Good Luck!

i have actually stopped using the gripe water. it worked great for a few weeks but then my son got diaharea...nothing too serious. but i stopped the gripe water and he was better the next day. not sure if there was a conection or not. but he's actually sleeping better now that i've stopped that and the zantac. he slept all night last night. i started feeding him more baby food in one sitting and that seemed to do the trick. must have been that he was just hungry?

I use to use Gripe water with my daughter...however now I totally recommand "Oval" it is great for hiccups, GAS, colic and it is all natural can being giving to newborns..taken in the mouth or mix is bottle it was my life saver :)

Chammomile tea worked for my son he was only 3 months old and he wouldnt stop screaming and I remembered a friend of mine had told me if ever i have a baby and hegets colic to call her and shed give me her secret. Chammomile tea that was it. instead of using water to mix with the formula i had to use the tea. it alleviated him. Thank goodnes my son didnt ALWays get gassy! if you can try giving your son the tea by itself mine wouldnt drink it, thats why i had to do it in formula.

Gripe water was fantastic for my daughter when she was younger, I used to put it in with her milk otherwise she would spit it out! It is vile tasting!!

I used gripe water (the non-alcoholic kind) on my preemie daughter.  She was always crying because her stomach hurt so bad because she couldn't get her burp out.  We used it for along time because of the gas and because she was spitting up alot.  Then one day I switched her bottle brand and all of a sudden all problems were gone.  If you're using a bottle, you might want to consider that.  My little girl was like a brand new child.  She was so happier.

I have used it before and to be honest it really didn`t work nothing did I just had to walk around for hours with my poor little girl when she had wind. It seems like its never going to end at the time but it passes and becomes a distant memory ;-) x

I used it with my duaghter, she did not like it and once I tasted I was not suprised but it does wonders and is not harmful in any way so you cant loose, good luck!

well the problem with having him sleep in his bouncy chair is that he will not sleep on his back. never has. since the first day home i tried putting him in the cradle on his back and he screamed. then we tried the swing and bouncy cause we thought if he was kinda sitting up he wouldn't cry but no. the only way he would sleep at first was to just put him on my chest and prop myself up on the couch and that's how i slept for the first month or so. then when i got past the fear of just putting him on his tummy to sleep we put him in the crib to sleep. some nights are better than others. i'm not really sure what the problem is. i've learned to just accept it as reality that he isn't not a consistant sleeper. i take naps when i can and otherwise just deal with it. i know that God never dumps more on us that we can handle and just when i think i can't take anymore my son will sleep one night for me or my hubby will take him.

If your son is having a lot of trouble with gas and acid reflux you could try having him sleep more upright. Let him sleep in a bouncy chair or swing something that will help him to get rid of any issues. If you still want him in his crib you can try slanting the mattress downward by his feet. Just prop the one side of it up some with a couple of towels underneath. That will help with a stuffy nose too :)

I figured out gripe watr worked until we had to put my son Slade Presley on Zantac.. Then it got worse when used.. They say dont mix them much so I realized they were right

Gripe Water has been around for quite a few years. And now you have the option of buying Alcohol Free Gripe Water. I find the one with alcohol in it works the best. I haven't given an actual dose to my kids, though. Instead I dipped their soothers in it. Mixing it in bottles is another option. There are a few different brands out there that help babies with gas and upset stomachs.

thanks bonnie. actually i just went and bought the lavender bath this past weekend. it worked the first night...but hasn't since. my son is strange. out of now where one night he will sleep so then we try and duplicate whatever we did the next night but nothing ever works the same twice. i'm baffled. lol. guess i'll just have to live with it and hope he grows out of it someday. prolly when he's 18!! haha!!

hi again try keepin him awake durin the day! also i swear by lavender put a few drops on his beddin (no where that touches skin) also use lavender oil in baths before bed it works wonders and has calmin abilities (it will calm and refresh u too! hope it helps!

thanks again everyone!! i'm almost out of the first bottle!! i can't believe the difference in him...he hardly fusses at all and i can actually put him down now and get stuff done. Like play on here!! lol. he's still not sleeping at night however anyone got any ideas there? he wakes up crying every hour or so for the first 3 hours of the night and goes back to sleep within a few minutes...then anytime after midnight he'll wake for a bottle and go right back to sleep...sometimes he can go the rest of the night but last night he woke again 2 hours after the bottle and cried for a minute and then went back to sleep. and now he's taking shorter, less frequent naps and i'm afaid he's not getting enough sleep...i know i'm not!!

I have actually bought it and used it... I am on my third bottle for my 6 month old. We use it for all of the symptoms you listed  and it seems to help. My husband's mother is a nurse in Mobile; she is the one that told us about it...

Just a fun fact i forgot to add, my mom used to dose me with the gripe water like crazy when i was a baby until the doctor told her about the alcohol in it lol dont worry i dont think they sell the old stuff anymore but it explains why less people "swear by it" today then they used to :)

Im sorry but i tried gripe water with my daughter and she wouldnt take it so i tasted it and gagged, not sure where your are but there is stuff here in australia called "Marinas infant mixture" its natural, works brilliantly, and tastes fine.

I used gripe water for my baby now 9 1/2 months old.. Great for hiccups.. DIdnt help with the severe AR or COlic..Depends on how severe the ar is.. My son still wakes up just to burp and then goes back to sleep.. Hes SLOWLY growing out of it.. I do not do the CIO method since he had such severe ar but I guess thats why I stay at home...

As far as the nasty taste, it says that you can mix it. I mixed it with milk, and juice. My son never knew a difference!!

Gripe water was a life saver. It helps for colic, gas, and nausea. It's perfectly safe. It's all natural. All it is, is ginger and fennel. You really should give it try. It wont hurt.

Infacol you either put into babies mouth b4 breastfeeding or straight into every bottle and it just helps them burp after every feed, for those babies who tend to hold onto wind. It doesnt taste bad either..

what are ovol drops and infacol? i've never heard of any of this stuff. i never had any problems with my 3 year old so this is all new to me.where can i find these? i got the gripe water in wegman's. that's a grocery store in ny. but i don't remember seeing the other things.

It worked for hiccupps but I found that ovol drops worked better for her gas.
