my son is 14months old and in this last week he has learnt to head butt things. it started off as a one off but now its everytime i say no to him. he doesnt headbutt me or anyone else but he has started headbutting the floor and furniture and has a little bruise on his head. at the moment a really dont know weather am making things worse or not. wen he gets angry and headbutts something i just tell him in a nice voice that he will hurt himself and he normally just shuffles off and starts playing. has anyone else had this problem and wot did you do to get them out of this phase? any help would be gratefull xx

My son is the same age, and has started this as well! He started off headbutting me when he would get angry if I say no, or take something away from him. This started about a month or maybe only 3 weeks ago. But now he headbutts everything. I tell him that he will get hurt, but he does it anyway. The way I got him to realize that headbutting me was hurting me was I would tell him he hurt mama and he would feel bad and give hugs. Now I kind of make a game out of it and say "give mama love bonks" and he gives me a little bonk on my forehead and he thinks it's funny and he likes it. He doesn't headbutt the walls as much or the floor or the cabinets anymore now that we do the "love bonks" He likes the game, and I don't think it's teaching him to head butt people, it's just a game we play.
