Hi My name is Crystle I have a 16 month old son Daniel!! He was 9 lbs 21 1/2 inches!!! he was due on Oct. 29th 2007 but of course with my luck he was a few days late. I was induced on Nov.1st at 6 am. The Dr. was so sure I would have him by 5 pm but of course that didn't happen either! in fact NOTHING had happen by that point! I was in no pain my water didn't break He just did not want to come out. So a little after 5 they broke my water and then came the pain shortly after. I dont think I lasted to long after that before I got the epidural. The epidural was working at first but wore off faster then I expected, something was wrong with the iv drip part of it so they had to keep injecting it in about every 3-4 hours! yes, it was a LOOONG labor. So at this point the Dr. said I should be able to start pushing around 9-930. Suprise suprise didn't happen! Finally at about 530 am I was able to start pushing. at this point I had barly slept, ate or drank anything in about 2 days :( I was exausted but very excited to meet my little man! So I was pushing and pushing and pushing and he still just did not want to come out. 3 hours into it I was begging for a c-section. Did I mention I had a mid-wife not a Dr. there. Well anyways mid-wifes cant do c-section so as I feel like i'm going to pass out if I push anymore. the mid-wife tells me she'll call the Dr. because she finally realized I really did need a c-section and she comes back and tells me the Dr. is at home letting her dogs out!!!!!! She didn't give me anything to stop the pain while the Dr. "was letting her dogs out" so as i'm sure most of you know when you need to push you can't control and have to push. so it was now about 930 when the Dr. got there (over a hour later) and he was born at 9:57 am :) best day of my life but also the hardest! The only thing I would change is my Dr. of course!!!!!

well to start i found out i was pregnant at 29 wks 6 days!! i went to my doctor a week earlier with a dull ache in the left of my abdomen. they said they thought it was a cyst of some form and wanted to send me for a scan, i recieved a letter from the maternity unit??? i thought it must have been one obs and gynae unit so went along anyway. When my parents seen the letter they were not happy and my step mum came with me, as the radiographer put the device onto my abdomen the screen was black and i said to her "see i told you i wasn't pregnant" the radiographer said sorry can i say yes you are that's your babies head!!! well i didnt know what to do at that point i was in shock for about 2 weeks then realised that i only had 8 weeks to prepare myself. I worked 6 10 hour shifts a week (60 hours) and did so until 37 weeks gone and went off on leave. She was born 2 days before my due date labour starting at 8:30 am and her born at 10:45 weighing 7lb12oz - considering i didnt gain any weight though out the pregnancy she was a healthy weight and i had what i call a super speedy pregnancy!!! next time i hope i have a huge bump to show off but the pregnancy and labour short and sweet - perfect

When I first started having contractions it was May 14th 2008. I wasn't due until July 16th. I went to the hospital and after being there from 11 at night to almost noon on thursday they finally got my contractions to stop so i went home and made a follow up appointment with my doctor on friday. I went to see him and he told me i was 1 centimeter and 80% so he sent me to the hospital again and wanted me to stay there. They then decided that I was going to be having the baby so they sent me a few hours away by ambulance to a better hospital which was more suited for early pregnancy. The doctors there couldn't figure out ANYTHING to cause me to have preterm labor so they wouldnt feed me ANYTHING and started giving me the shots to develop my daughters lungs. Sunday morning about 4 AM my water broke but my stupid nurse told me that it was just excess mucus ... even though my bed was soaked and so was I. All day sunday i felt AMAZING .. no pain or anything. Then came 1 AM monday morning when nobody was at the hospital with me. I started having serious pains in my back and legs. I couldnt stand or sit or lay down. I had to kneel on a chair facing the back of it. That was the only way I could find some kind of comfort. My nurse came in and hooked me up to the machine but it wasnt picking up and contractions so she gave me tylenol and said tyr to relax. Well finally I told them I want to see my doctor I wanna be checked. Glad i did because the baby was crowning so we rushed to delivery ... with no family around remember. I gave birth to my daughter at 2:36 monday morning. She was 3 pounds 10 ounces and about 2 months early. And luckily NO health issues. Turns out that I was having back labor and thats why they couldnt pick up any contractions .... I was terrified the whole time!

Wow some of these birth and labour stories are pretty far out :)

I had a really easy pregnancy and was very lucky to have an easy painless labour and birth too.

I woke up at 3.30 am on December 11th 2006 and I really had to pee. I thought it was probably because of the huge amount of water I had drunk at work the previous night. I sat down on the toilet and and felt something hanging out of there, i discovered it was my sons amniotic sac after it burst when I touched it. I must have been in labour a while for the sac to just hang out like that but I hadn't even noticed a single contraction or anything. Anyway I got my husband out of bed and asked him to help get the things ready to take to the hospital. i then woke up my MIL who was staying with us at the time to let her know what was going on. I thought we would have a while before we had to leave for the hospital as it was my first baby and I didn't think I was in full blown labour as I couldn't even feel my contractions. It wasn't until 3.50 am that I realised we had better get going as I could feel my son dropping lower and lower down. So we got into the car and off we went, my MIL was drving, I was in the front passenger seat and my hubby was sitting behind me. At 4.00 am I felt this incredible urge to push but was trying not to as the hospital was still about 10 minutes away. Despite my trying not to push I think I did anyway and I delivered my son by myself at 4.10 am, he just kinda shot out. Thank goodness I managed to catch him.

We arrived at the hospital emergency at 4.15 am to a welcoming party of very surprised nurses. My son and I were discharged at 1 pm the next day.

omg my 1st two children I had epidurals and 12hr labors, my 3rd and last I had no choice in the matter. little Caitlin wouldn't wait and came in 3 1/2 hrs (2 1/2 hrs done @home). I asked to nurse for an epidural when I was 4cm and she said it would take an hour, less than an hr later she checked me and I was 7cm I started crying and said I'm scared I've never delivered a baby without an epidural before. besides all the crying and cursing and asking God to help me when Cailtin's head came out I screamed and when her shoulders came down I REALLY SCREAMED and that was that I felt so relieved and I kept thinking all the stuff I heard about the pain going away after the baby's delivered really is true.

My daughter was due Nov. 16th, 2008, but she was a week late. I hadn't dialated AT ALL so I went in for my appointment and the Dr. said that I could wait it out or go get induced. I went to the hospital, got induced at 6pm Thursday, my water broke at 6am Friday, and at noon I had contractions that were so hard I couldn't breathe through them. So they gave the the epidural and I was able to start pushing at a little before 1 in the morning. I pushed for an hour but she wasn't cooperating, and the Dr. came in and told me the most insensitive thing I've ever heard in my life. "You can keep pushing and lose her, we can vaccuum her out and cause her some damage, or we can do a c-section and you can be the only one in pain." I looked at him and said, "I'm going to shove my IV stand somewhere REALLY uncomfortable on you." So I went for the c-section and Victoria Lynn was born November 22nd, 2008, at 1:56am. She was 8lbs 12oz and 20 1/2 inches long. She's going to be 18 months in a little under 3 weeks, and I swear some days she's smarter than I am.

morning sickness every day from 4th week thru 36th week, starting at 4am and sometimes lasting thru 1pm. Due March 10, 2009. Induced March 18th at 10pm. made it 'til 11pm March 19th (25hrs) without pain meds and dilating past the 1/2cm i'd been at since January. my daughter was facing up, so i had constant back labor and felt no individual contractions. got an epidural, but didn't know i'd be stuck in bed, so that pissed me off. i also am allergic to narcotics so i only got the numbing stuff, which they decided to give me a more than normal amount due to no pain killers. this made me lose all feeling from shoulder blades to toes along my back side and lose ability to move my legs. i have arthritis and tendinitis in both of my knees and have had a bone graft in my left knee, which damaged some nerves. my left leg quad tends to twitch sometimes, and without me being able to counter the muscle movement, my leg kept falling off the bed. the extra meds in the epidural made me sick, so i spent the entire night throwing up yellow stomach acid goo. by 4am i had made it to 4cm. by 8am i was at 9cm. my daughter was able to roll all the way over to face down at 8:15am. i started pushing at 8:30am and my daughter was born at 12:20pm on March 20th. so just over 38 hours of induced labor, almost 4 hours of pushing, and my water never broke because i didn't have any water left by then. my daughter was 6 pounds, 13 ounces and 19.5" long. i am so ok with having an only child. or we'll adopt if we really want another kid.

Matti was born may 9th, 8lbs 7oz and 20.5inch long. My mother inlaw just flew home Friday afternoon (from visiting for a week hoping I would have the baby) and Friday evening at 11:30pm I was laying in bed waiting for my boyfriend to get home from work when my waterbroke. I went to the washroom because I wasnt sure what was happening and I noticed I also lost my plug. My contractions also started at that time too. I couldn't sleep so I stayed up all night eating and watching movies (my boyfriend slept because he was drinking afterwork, he starting drinking before I told him I was in labour and came straight home when I told him). at 6:30am I woke him up to tell him to eat because we had to go to the hospital (I was then 3-4 minutes apart). I called my mom because to tell her we were heading to the hospital. When we got there I was left in the examing room for 30-60 minutes because they were in the middle of a shift change. Finally a nurse came in and I was in active labour so they got a room ready for me. I tried to deal with the pain naturally with breathing and hot baths but it didnt work. I tried laughing gas but couldnt breath it in through contractions, so they gave me the thing in the IV. Around 2pm I was having great difficulties trying not to push, the nurse was about to leave and told me she would be back in 20-30 minutes but I begged her to check me again because I really needed to push. She then told me I was fully dialated and was able to push but wait for the doctor. 5 minutes later the doctor was there. They asked if I wanted a mirror so I could watch but I thought that was gross so I said no. But after how many contractions and he was still not out I asked for the mirror so I can watch my progress. He just seemed like a big ball of hair. Finally his 36cm head came out and another push later her was fully born at 3:05pm. I dont remember what happened after that because I had my son on my chest and all I could do was look and pay attention to him. 15.5 hours is not bad for a 1st child

on tuesday i lost what they call a plug so went in to hospital to see what was happening they said i was only dilated enough so they could break my waters if they needed to and sent me home to try and bring on labour myself that was at 8am.....by 3pm i called my mum and said i wasn't feeling well and could she come sit with me i started having contractions every 10mins and my waters still hadnt broken this went on till 8am the next day so we went in again to see what was happening at the hospital they told me that i was only a lil over 2cm dilated and my waters hadn't broken so they sent me home again......contractions went all day every 4-6mins but water still not broken....by thursday morning sept 3rd 2009(my due date) my waters still hadn't broken...contractions were every 3mins by 5pm.....at 8pm i looked at mum and said that i had enough and wanted to go back in to see what was happening as my water still hadn't broken! when we got there i was taken in by wheelchair because i was in agony....dr had a look and said that i was almost 8cm and i should get up and move around to try and get my waters to break....by 9:30pm they still hadnt broken so the midwife went to get the dr to break them for me i was laying on the bed when they came back in and while they were getting it organised i let out a scream and sat up directly on my waters bursting them....yes thats right my water had started to come out intact and tore me badly when i sat on it.....i started pushing straight after that and my daughter maddison was finally out at 11:14pm ( my birthday is the 14th november so i felt like it was meant 2 b)...... she was 6lb 15oz and 50cm long.....i went through it all with no pain relief because i have a phobia of needles and iv drips and the gas i have a bad reaction to so there wasn't really anything they could give me.....it took them almost an hour to finish stitching me up as i had 2 bad tears that on the left side went past my pubic bone they even had to insert a cathida and stitch aroubd it so that i could pee it was taken out after 24hrs thank god!...it was all worth it in the end as im sure u all would agree!

I work as a restaurant manager - 50 hours/week on my feet but believe it or not by the end I was happier walking than any other way, so I guess it was the right job for me! Food service is notorious for producing early babies - I had only met one worker who was on time (right on her due date!), other than that it was two weeks early, ten days early, you get the idea. Needless to say the closer I got to my due date the crazier I got, especially since my daughter had dropped three weeks before my due date and i had been dilating ever since! We tried everything to get her to come out, and every visit to the midwife ended with "I'll probably see you tonight."

Anyway, four days before my due date I was 3 cm dilated, 60% effaced, and didn't feel like anything was going to happen, but was strangely comfortable with that (which was funny because the day before I had been in tears all night at the thought of having an "April fools baby"). we went to bed at 11:00, and I dozed until 11:45, when I woke up feeling crampy. This was nothing new, as I had tons of false labor for the three weeks before she was born, so I went and sat in the bathtub for awhile. I grabbed my phone to time the cramps, and after they were three minutes apart for an hour and a half, I decided to wake my husband and make him take me to the hospital, because it just felt different than before. One the way we called my midwife, who told me I could stay home for awhile because I didn't sound over the phone like anything was too intense. I told her I was on my way already and i really wanted to go in, so she said she would meet me there.

When they checked me in I was 4 cm dilated and they let me stay because my blood pressure was a little high. I was a "6" on the pain scale, which, since I have never been seriously injured, was really just a guess from me lol. They told me she would probably be born around late morning, early afternoon, so we told our parents to come in after they woke up for the day. Needless to say, my mom came in within an hour and my husband's mom within 2.

My contractions stayed about two min apart until 5:00 (we checked in at 2) and then my water broke - holy cow did that get things going! I had wanted to do a drug free labor and delivery, so my husband was under orders to hold me off when I started asking for an epidural. Every time I asked, he asked me if I could wait for another ten minutes (which I could, as my logic was that I could handle anything for ten minutes!) I wanted to push at 6:30, and my midwife told me ! had 1/2 cm left to go so just to do little pushes to get through the last part. At 6:40 I reached a "14" on my 1-10 pain scale and started really pushing, and all I remember about that part was yelling "They told me her head would make it numb! Why isn't it numb!?!?", and pushing as hard and long as I could to try and get her out! The best sentence I have ever heard in my life was "she has hair!", because that meant that they could see her! :) At 7:03 on March 24, 2010 my gorgeous girl was born at 7 lb 1 oz, four days before my due date! I would definitely trade having her a few days later than I thought with only having a 7 hour labor, and I am proud to have done it without drugs (Although i don't begrudge ANY woman from having them!!).

as sad as it is..i can't remember details of my son's birth. i gave birth two weeks after my due date. it was at a teaching hospital so it was hectic. i barely remember nurses and don't even remember who delivered him due to so many people coming in and out. students watching. it was awful. i do remember being in labor for 13 hours and pushing for 50 minutes to get him out. not too mention he took his first bowel movement in me as well which i had to have fluid wash all of that out. he was born at 9:50pm on september 20th, 2005 with slight jaundice which went away a week after he was born. he was 7lbs 13oz and 19.5 inches long. and he was beautiful.

my daughter's birth was definitely better and a more calm experience. my water broke 2 weeks early with her at 1am. i was alone with my son at the time. i called my sister and my brother in law to take me to the hospital. got to the hospital at 3ish. they checked me and i was 3 cm dilated. started my pitosine at 8am. by 11ish my contractions were so bad that i finally caved and got medication for the pain. and by 2:30 i was staring at the most beautiful little girl i had ever seen..was also excited to finally know that she was girl too! i had one doctor through my whole pregnancy and she was there to deliver my little girl too. it was a wonderful experience and wish it had been the same with my son. my daughter was 7lbs 5oz and 19 3/4 inches. healthy as could be.

My water broke at 7am on March 21st 2010. I was only 1.5 cm when we got to the hospital. After 2 hour i finally got a room and they hooked me to pitocin. When i was 4cm i got some stadol which was like having 12 mixed drinks. Then i finally decided to get the epi. Well only my right side was numb so after 2.5 hours they came back and had to redo it completely. At 7 am Monday morning i woke up screaming and crying bc my back was hurting so bad after the nurse came in she confirmed i was fully ready to go i had to wait a hour for my ob to come in my room to tell me to push. I pushed for 2 hours and no baby. Finally the doctor got me a shot to numb me and did a episotmy and had to use forceps to pull madyson out bc she was face up and stuck on my pubic bone. She weighed 7 pounds 5 ounces. I ended up having a 4th degree tear. Heres the great part it has taken me up to 3 weeks to start peeing by myself again. I had to learn how to do a self cathater. But she was worth all the pain

Hi, what great and amazing stories! My reply is alot later than these ones!!

My bubby's due date was 6th Nov 2009, that came and went, and on the 14th Nov at 11.40pm i had my first contraction, 7mins later i had my next one and they went down to 4mins apart from there, i rang the hospital who said it was probably false labour and i nearly swore at the midwife (it did NOT feel false! haha) after that they were every 2.5-3mins and lasting 1.5mins long. At 2.20am we arrived at the hospital (myself, my mum and my younger sister, my birthing team!) and walking to maternity i had the urge to push, almost breaking out in a run, we got to maternity and were taken straight through to the birthing suite. I was hooked up to the TENS machine and proved the mid-wife wrong, these WERE real contractions!! At approx 2.45am the midwife did a vaginal exam, and i was already 10cm but my waters hadn't broken...so with her egging me on, i pushed them out to the horror of my sister!! Then all of a sudden, there was a knock at the door and my dad came into the room ...... drunk as a skunk (had been to a Christmas work function!) and he told me jokes and mumbled useless crap until i was told to push. I tried the gas, but it made me feel anxious and frustrated, so with one hand holding my mum's and the other holding my sister's i pushed for about an hour....so after a 4hr "spontanious labour" i gave birth to my daughter Allegra Jayne Ditchfield at 3.40am on the dot. The midwife wanted to give my the injection that brings on contractions for the placenta, but i told her that as nothing else in my birth plan had happened, i wanted to expel it naturally. She agreed and 10 mins later it was gone :)
Allegra is now 5.5 months old and an amazing little girl, i'm not sure i'll have my dad in the delivery room with me next time, but as he couldn't see anything (THANKGOD!!!) i probably would :)

my labor and delivery was easy.  I was in the hospital the day before he was born- my contractions were about 2 minutes apart.  I wasn't dilating so after keeping me there for 22 hours they sent me home (this was at 10pm).  We went back in the next day at noon.  my water broke at home about an hour before and when I got there i was dilated to 9.  I immediately got taken into L&D and my son was born at 12:21.  I only pushed for about 15-20 minutes.  Needless to say my L&D was drug-free.  I'm glad it was though- I think the pain made me appreciate the whole experience.  He was born 3 1/2 weeks early and was 6lb 5oz and 19 inches.  My husband and I joke that he might have to learn how to deliver a baby for the second one since this one came so fast.  I plan on having another drug-free delivery for the next one.

My son was born Dec 4, 08 at 7:25 am. The day before he hadn't been moving at all and I had to wait for my husband to get off work before I could go to the hospital (it was a 30 min drive an at 9 months preggy I wasn't about to drive myself.) So when we got to the hospital I started having contractions and my blood pressure was higher than normal so they said they were going to induce me. So within the first 2 hours my contractions moved from 10 min apart to 1 min apart and still no drugs. I was getting a little aggravated. Then I had to go to the bathroom so they checked to see how dialated I was and the stupid nurse said "I can't seem to find your cervix". At this point I was ready to punch her in the face. But I finally got to the birthing room 4 hours later and they gave me the epidural. They decided to break my water and found my son had a bowel movement inside me. When it came time to push everytime I did his heart rate would drop because the cord was wrapped around his neck. So they pulled him out with forceps. I saw him for about a min before they took him to the nicu. It took almost 5 hours before I could go hold him. He was 8lbs 13oz and was 21 1'2 in long. He was the most beautiful baby I'd ever seen.

To continue with my story, due to the use of forceps I tore ALL the way down. Those first few days after Joseph was born was the worst pain of all. I couldn't sit or anything. But they had been giving me percoset (don't know if I spelled that right) for the pain. Well on the second day the nurse wouldn't give it to me. She gave me an 800mg IBprofin and that didn't do anything. So she came in and had the nerve to tell me to drink water and that would make the pain go away. So needless to say I might have yelled a little and she finally gave it to me. This was at a naval hospital so I kind of expected them to not care, but I didn't think it was going to be that bad

Well your stories are all so interesting mine is a lil ridiculous...

I was 2 days late, it was thursday night, i had just finished arguing with the daddy not to go out with friends cause i had a feeling but he went out, i went over to my moms friends house with my parents, things started getting uncomfortable and i was in denial didn't want to get my hopes up, my mom and her friend started timing me without me noticing and before i knew it i was heading home to get my bag and texting the daddy to get his ass home, a crowd joined me at the hospital. A few had a few drinks in them including the daddy, who puked before getting in the van apparently beers and nerves don't mix well. We got to the  hopsipital i was 3 cms, and the daddy was making jokes and being all nervous and kept moving things driving me a lil crazy. We walked to our labour room water broke on the way, felt gross i decided to yell that things were gushing. I was in labour for 8 hours, 2 of which the daddy fell asleep. I was a lil angry throughout hated being hooked up to machines, kept saying i had to pee so they would unhook me. But accomplished it without drugs and pushed for half n hour and had my beautiful baby boy.

hiya my name is kayleigh,i'm 21 and had my first baby 3months and 3 weeks ago.caidan thomas was born on  saturday 22nd november 2008 (nearly 2 weeks late) at 9.22am weighing 8lb 101/2oz...

i was lucky and had a pretty good pregnancy after the morning or should i say all day sickness stopped at about 4 months, from 30 weeks we were told the baby was breech so to expect a c section if it hadnt turned by my next check up...well at the next midwife appointment they said the baby hadnt turned and its bum was engaged so we pysiced ourselves up for a c section,we had a 37 week scan to check positioning of the baby and be booked in for the op...but to our suprise when the conultant done the scan the baby wasnt breech at all and it was its head completely engaged so after thinking we were going to meet our lil one and find out whether we had a son or daughter 2 weeks early we were slightly disappointed but pleased i could have a normal birth....

so the 11th nov (our original due date) came and went...i had a membrane sweep at 1 week overdue...by this point no one could blelieve bub wasnt already here because of how far its head was engaged....again to our suprise because i hadnt felt a thing i was already 4cm dilated and 5 with a contraction when our midwife done the sweep, she was so sure that we would have our baby within 24 hours that she saud she would eat her hat if i didnt, she booked me in to have my waters broken on monday 24th nov just as a precaution...

24 hours came and went...nothing....48 hours came and went...still nothing so by thursday we were feeling a bit fed up and down so we decided to jus look forward to monday as we knew what ever something would be happening that day...

12.00 fri night/sat morning i woke up with really bad stomach pains i went to the bathroom and i was bleeding a lil bit...told my partner and he said i could jus be a show as i was supposed to have one after the sweep but didnt....

2.00 sat morning i woke up again with worse pains and slightly heavier bleeding so rung the delivery suite and they told us to come in,by 3.15 we were there and i was already 9cm dilated...i had gas and air for about 10 contractions before anything really started happening then nothing for the rest of the labour and birth after about 2 hours of pushing our beautiful son was born...delivered by his daddy...

no stitches....which i was pleased about, the only complication was that the umbilical cord snapped off the placenta after i delivered the baby but before i could deliver the placenta...which was really scary!apparently it ionly happens when the baby is really late.they told me if i couldnt deliver it within half hour i'd have to have surgery which after having such an easy labour with no complications i wasnt too happy about having surgery jus for the placenta!

well i delivered the placenta jus as they came to tell me i'd be getting preped for surgery so that was lucky!

we will never forget that day or the wait lol!

most amazing day of mine and my fiance's lives...xxx...

p.s sorry it was such an essay!

Hey everybody mines is also a funny story as I found out that I was pregnant at 8 months and that was because the baby started to move at that same time I went into the Hospital on a Monday to get a blood test done to see If I was really pregnant and on friday of that same week I went in again because I was having pubic bone pains and I went in and the checked me and told me I was alreay 8 months pregnant to my suprise I thought I was only 5 or 6 months pregnant well anyways the doctor told me I was due for Aug 9th 2008 and that If I didn't feel any pain to go into my app. on the 11th as scheuled to take him some resuslts when I go in on that day he checks my blood pressure and it was very high and he tells me let's take u to the emergency room so one of the nurses can check it just in case and it also came out very high so then he asks me how I feel I tell him perfectly fine and he tells me well I don't like ur pressure being so high and when we get back to his office he' checks me vaginally and tells me that the baby is in position but that he can barely touch the head and I was already 40 weeks and 2 days and he tells me that the baby should be easily felt much lower and my belly was still high up he gives me the suprise and tells me to go to admissions cause I was going to have a c-section I just wanted to die so for the fact that I had nothing to eat the whole day of the 11th on the 12th he was born at 11:00 a.m. at 7 Lbs 5 OZ and 20 in long that was the best day of my life.

ahhh the memories lol.I had quite easy pregnancies with both my children apart from really bad all day sickness with my son we would go out for meals and i would have to throw up after every course and working as a bar sup.i would have to run outside every few mins to be sick not good when the bar was heaving.I think the hardest thing for me was going from 8st to 12st with my first i didnt go as heavy with my daughter but then again ive still not made it back to 8st ever since i was massive whilst pregnant. Now for my labor stories, with Logan all the way through he was breech so i was booked in for a c-section but after waiting at hospital for a lot of nervous hrs to go into theater while the midwife prepped me she felt my bump and said he had turned so i was scanned and sure enough he had so they sent me home to go naturally. Two weeks after my due date 13 aug 05 and a few unsuccessful sweeps as my cervic was to tight i was booked in to be induced. On the day i was going to be induced i went into labor,i went to hospital and after being examined i was sent home as i wasnt dilated at all.At home for a few very painful hours i went back when my contractions were a min apart this time, this time when the midwife examined me she turned and said that she wasn't surprised i was in pain as i was fully dilated and i had no pain relief at all.I had always fancied a water birth so i spent a few hrs in there but it didnt really work as i crawled onto my bed my waters broke. It was disgusting as logan had poo inside me,even though he wasn't distressed it was decided i had to go to preston hospital as chorley where i live is only run by midwifes.By this time i didn't really have a clue what was going on i didnt take the gas and air out of my mouth as it was hurting so much.Me and my partner was rushed in an ambulance, which was my first time in one and i cant remember a thing about and i was later told we almost crashed on the motorway!Once i was there i had so many different doctors prodding and poking me if i hadn't have been so out of it i would have been so embarrassed, they finally came to the conclusion he was back to back. After they tried turning him without luck i had the urge to start pushing so with my knees next to my ears i pushed for 4hrs and logan didn't budge still all this time i had only gas and air,it's a good thing i can cope really well with pain. The decision was finally made i was to have my c-section after all.I can tell you this trying to stay dead still for an epidural whilst your body is pushing on its own is really difficult, the sensation that followed was the best feeling ever not being able to feel the contractions anymore after all those hrs pure bliss.Logan was finally born 6:55 25 aug.o5 at 8lbs 110z and 55cm long.
Alexia's birth was a lot easier but still with its problems. As i had the choice this time whether or not to have a v.birth i opted for a c-section as my stomach had been totally ruined by Logan anyway and being with my sister-in-law for her 36 long hrs labor which would scare the hell out of any women. The doctors tried there best to scare and guilt me into changing my mind and going natural i stuck to my choice. Not that i didn't think about natural birth i just came to the conclusion that if i went before my date for my op. i would give it a go.She wasn't for comin early even though i was huge from the beginning. At all of my anti-natal checks in my last weeks the midwifes told me that she was head down and engaged. So one the 5 june 08 i went in for my c-section 2 wks before my DD all went smoothly with the epi.and the other things they do i did find it quite scary and surreal this time as i wasn't of my head with gas and air this time round. When lexie was lifted from my tum the surgeon announced she was breech and that the cord was wrapped round her neck a few times which they undid and she was prefect and healthy at 7lb 3oz and 52cm,well at her time of birth i was told she was 8lbs even though she looked tiny to what logan was it was only 2 days later when she was weighted before we went home when it was discovered it was wrong as she had gone down to 6lb 9 oz so if she had been 8lbs at birth she would have had lost to much weighted for a baby that breastfed constantly and looked healthy.Iguess ill never know for sure what she weighted at birth but a midwife and myself decided on 7 3.
Alexia's labor it self wasn't much of a story i guess but it chills me to my bones that if i had listen to the doctors that tried to guilt me into a natural birth that Lexi could quite easily have died and myself could have been seriously injured im extremely thankful i went with my instinct.
Im sorry if ive rambled on, its been great reading everyone elses story's too, i dont think any of us will ever forget them x

I had a pretty smooth pregnancy, so I was expecting the labor to bite me in the butt.  Boy did it though.  I gained 80 pounds during my pregnancy due to my high blood pressure during the pregnancy.  I went into labor 4 days before my due date.  I spent that whole night at the hospital writhing in pain.  5am the next morning they hooked me up to the pitocin.  By 8 they broke my water.  From there the pain became intense.  My blood pressure kept rising so they had me roll over on my left side and had oxygen put on me.  Then they told me I could only have 3 or 4 ice chips per half hour.  Ugh!!  I had never been so thirsty in my life.  Well, after 9 hours of the hard labor, I finally decided it would be ok to get the IV drugs Statol and Fenegran.  Those are the wimpiest drugs I have ever had.  Finally, at 9:00pm the doctor told me I was going to have to have a c-section because my cervix had started to swell, and we couldn't watch Jonathan's heart rate continue to drop with every contraction.  An hour later and 15 minutes, Jonathan Dean came into the world.  His umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck a few too many times, and he was lodged in the birth canal.  He was 8 pounds 9.5 ounces and 21 1/4 inches.  I just couldn't birth him.  Though he looked like I had with the conehead from being stuck in the birthcanal for so long.  After that it was easy sailing to 3 days in the hospital and then home.

My was pretty bad too. Maybe not quite as bad as yours. So my daughter was due Dec. 5, 2007 and was actually born on the 1st. I started labor Nov. 30th at 3am. I woke up to go to the bathroom and was bleeding so I got my fiance up and told him we needed to go to the hospital. We got to the hospital and I as 2cm dilated and not really in labor. I had a few mild contractions, but even though they were regular I wasn't in hard labor so we went home at 7am. I had mild cramping for a few hours and then everything stopped until we went to dinner that night. We decided to go back to the hospital around 9pm and I was now 4 cm dilated. I walked and walked and then the pain started. I asked for pain meds and they gave me a shot. I still wasn't admitted at this time and was still in triage. They monitored me and I was plainly in hard labor. I was throwing up and still bleeding and because my water hadn't broke they sent me home again around 3 or 4 am. By this time I was having trouble moving and the pain was overpowering me. We went back to the hospital and they finally addmitted me at 6cm. They got me into labor and delivery, put an IV in very quickly, and told me I couldn't get an epidural b/c the anethesiologist was in an emergency c-section. So I told them to give me something and they put it in the IV. By this time I didn't care what was going on b/c I was in soo much pain and was pretty much out of it. They checked me again and I was 9 cm so they broke my water and then not long after that I was 10 cm and pushing. It only took 15 mins and my daughter was out. So I was officially in labor for 28 hours even though I was only in hard labor for about 6 hours. My daughter was born at 7:18 am weighing 7lbs. 13 ounces and was 19.5 inches long.

Oh yeah I forgot to add that my daughter didn't turn all the way so she came out kind of side ways and her elbow came out instead of her shoulder so I tore and had to get about 7 stitches.

I went to the Dr for my 36 week check up (April 1st, 2008). She asked me if I was having contractions and I said no. I felt fine and had my whole week planned (I had just worked my last day at work the day before) She checked me and looked funny and asked me again if I was feeling anything. and of course I said "no" She said, "well, you're dilated 7Cm and you're going to have the baby today!" I was so shocked. I called my parents (they live in Nashville, TN 2 hours away from Chattanooga, Tn where I live) and they raced down. My husband quickly drove over to the hospital. they broke my water at 8cm. gave me my epidural at 9cm (next time I'm not doing an epi. it's not worth it) I started pushing at 3:00pm and had Landon at 3:09pm. April Fools Day surprise!!

OH that's so crazy! LOL! I bet women everywhere are jealous of the no I feel no pain part. Especially at 7 cm's! At least you'll have a great story for when he's older and getting married. LOL!!!!!

Hi ;-)..My name is Mary and I am a first time mom..My orginal due date was to be April 11th, 2008, instead, Billey was born on Feb. 7th, 2008..The night before I did not feel good at all..I had pain in lower stomach about every 30 minutes long, but if I would go and sit on the toilet, for a lil bit, the pain would past.. I did that from about 3:30 a.m. til the next morning (wasn't the funniest time in the world)..I then got around to go to work and still had the pains and was running to the bathroom every 30 minutes just to have relief.  Finally, I couldn't take it anymore, and I had started to spot a lil, I left work and came home to call the DR... They had said just take it easy and the DR will call you back in a lil while when they have a moment...  I called at 9:00 a.m., I got tired and the pain was getting worse, and the spotting, so I said the heck with it, I called back at 10:00 a.m... They said do you think that you want to come in or just take it easy, I was like I don't know WHAT I'm suppose to be like and YES I want to come in.. I got to the DR. office and went back to get checked out, (it was a mid-wife) at first, then she left the room, and actual DR. (not mine), but someone else who was on call, came in and looked at me (which I wasn't very comfortable about), he was like you are 3 cm along and need to get over to the ER right now you are in active labor... I was soo scared, cuz she was 30 wks and I didn't know if she was OK enough to come out or what the result was going to be or just how things would go.. I got to the ER, and she was in such a hurry,  they tried to slow down contractions, but she didn't want that at all..  I had NO time for drugs AT ALL... I was going to do the drugs, but now I understand about the NATURAL way (not a really good idea ;-D)... I had Billey at 3:46 p.m. and then she had to stay in the NICU for 43 days... I hated the natural way, but I would NEVER change Billey in for the WORLD...  I really understand what they say when you first become a parent, that there is NO other person you can love more than your child, and I do believe that... She is my lil' miracle and I wouldn't change that day for the world...  :-)

Sophia was born on April 3, 2008 at 12:25pm. It was really unexpected. I was at the doctors for a regular appointment on the 2nd. I had just finished being check and the doctor was saying that she thought that I would be deliverying come the weekend(it was a wed) when my water broke. It was a big gush. It was one of the grosses things that has happened to me. . They let me clean up get dressed. They told me that it would probably take a couple hours before things would get started, so go home, eat, get the baby bag and go to the hospital. So we went and got the baby bag, some mcdonalds for dinner and called my boyfriend. He was stressed. I was calm. Barely feeling the contractions. We got to the hospital about 5 or 6pm I had dialated 1 cm. They told me to change in to the night gown and then to walk. I walked for a couple hours and then they checked me again. Still only 1cm. I finally got my own room at 11;30 that night. Contractions were about 2-3 mins apart last for 1 min. I went for a shower in my room to try and get the contractions to be stronger. At this point I was still drug free and feeling ok. At 1:00am they checked me again. I was 1,5cm. I was upset. All these hours of contractions for a half a cm. They decide to induce me then. They knew that since my water broke 11 hours before they had to do something cuz the baby had to be out within13 hours or some serious infections could happen. The indkuction was awful. I had contractions coming one on top of the other. I couldnt catch my breath. At about 4am they checked me again, I was only 2cm. I think I started to cry. I got an epidural at that point. It was horrible. They would let me finish my contraction before the told me to arch and not move. I could have killed her at that moment in time. Anyways I flinched. She hit the wrong spot and had to do it again. Not fun. I remember screaming. My boyfriend jumped awake( he had been sleeping of and on while my mom stayed awake with me) and they wouldnt even let my mom hold my hand. Once the epidual started it was wonderful. No pain. They checked me again at 11:00 I was fully dialated and the babies head was dropping down I could start to push. Yeah!! They went to get the doctor. Sophia decided she was either not ready to be born or she was in the wrong posistion because by the time the doctor came back she had gone back up the birth canal. May I mention at this point I was running out of epidural. Anyways they gave me a shot of morphine to hold me until I could get more epidural and then told me to push. They told me if I didnt push the baby out in about an hour they would "help" me. I was not happy. After about 45 mins she was almost out, they let me continue on my own. At 12:25pm my daughter Sophia was born. She was 7lbs 5oz and 18 1/4" long. After recoverying in the hospital for a few hours they decided to take my iv out. I had a mini stroke shortly after. It was due to an allergic reaction to the morphine or to the combination of drugs. It was scary. They let my boyfriend stay the night in my room to keep an eye on me. My oen doctor was not there for the delivery. I wasnt happy with that. She saw me the next morning. They asked me if I wanted to stay and extra night for obsevation. I said no. I wanted to go home with my baby.

They first time I heard her cry was one of the happiest moments of my life. I see her, hold her after carrying her for 8 and half months was incredible and i couldnt regret anything that led up to her being with me,

I was induced with my first baby a week early due to high blood pressure... midwife broke my waters at 2pm and by 8pm started to push... he was born at 9:27pm... sounds easy really didnt feel like that...! I remember just pacing up and down the room and with every contraction having to run to the toilet for some reason... think i thought he was going to fall out!! lol.. well i had my 2nd baby 13 weeks ago so its very fresh in my mind... i was due on the 21st december and it was the night of the 10th december and i went to bed as usual at about 10pm, had no idea what was going to happen in few hours... i was woke at 1am by an almighty pain and another one 5 mins later... i wasnt sure if it was labour though as had been having alot of BH.... i rang my partner as he was at work and said think u better get home... he had a 45 min journey!! I rang the hospital and they said not to worry nothing would probably happen for a while!! By partner arrived home by 2am and by contractions were coming every couple of mins.. the journey to hospital was herrendous just kept thinking 'i need pain relief'!! my waters were going slowly and then went with a big gush when i arrived! i then got into the room and needed to push at 3am... the midwif couldnt believe how quickly this baby was coming... and then finally by 3:30am she was born!! What a relief... my legs were shacking so fast i couldnt control them... i think id gone into shock because i felt it all happened so fast.. but i had done it and with no pain relief!!

My labours sound easy, with my little boy I was due to go into hospital on the 3rd April 03 to get induced when at 8.05pm on the 2nd April I went into labour, I refused to go to the hospital until my fav tv prog had finished, so by the time i got there it was 9.45pm, I was already 9cm when I arrived and he was born at 00.04 on the 3rd April weighing 7lbs 14 oz. With my little girl I woke up on the 10th March went for a bath and at 7.35am had excrutiating pain, my husband got up and tried to get me dressed to go to hospital but 5 min later i realised the head was there, so my husband delivered her head and the paramedics delivered the rest of her, so after a 15-20min labour, she arrived weighing a healthy 8lb 3oz, We got taken to the hospital to get checked over and allowed home the same day.

Hi my name is Kelly, I am from South Africa, my labor story goes like this, I was due to go in for a C-Section on 28 May 2007 as my son was lying in a breach position and didn't want to turn, so they booked me for the 28th.  I only stopped working on Friday 25 May 2007, still being at the office, I had to do stairs (every time to go to the loo).  Well I left work early on that Friday and went to do some last minute shopping.  As I arrived home, my boyfriend decided that we going to have a chilled evening and we decided not to cook but go get Macdonalds for supper.  While sitting at home, I took 2 bites out of my quarter ponder with cheese, and I felt a little uncomfortable, so I decided maybe I should just go have a shower then I will feel better, that was around 8:30 in the evening.  Got into the shower and I could feel my belly contracting, but I thought ok, so it is just brackstin hics contractions, so I left it.  (I was in the shower for 45 min, cause the water was just so good to relieve the pain), not thinking the hot water actually brings on labor quicker.  Anyway I finally got out of the shower and went to the other bathroom and man I tell you I thought my belly was going to explode.  My boyfriend came to see what I was up to and there is me sitting on the side of the bath holding my tummy and doing the breathing excersises that we learnt in antenatal classes.  Shame his poor face when he saw me in that pain, so he asked me how far apart they were and I said don't worry it is just brackstin hics, so he watched me for about 10 min and then decided to call the Dr on his cellphone.  The doc said get her in the car and bring her to the hospital.  So off we go into the car and man the pains were terrible, but I could handle it.  We arrived at the hospital (emergency entrance) and the guard there said to us we must go to the reception, well I just let him have it and told him that if he wants to catch this baby then he must not open the gate, nevertheless he opened and my boyfriend ran in to the nurses and got a wheelchair.  As he helped me out of the car, my water broke and then the pain just came one after the other.  They took me to the rooms, got me changed into those very "sexy" gowns and prepared me for theater.  The woman that put the drip in my hand stuck the needle in the wrong way and then proceeded to wiggle it around to find the vein, if I could I would of kicked her teeth out but the belly was in the way.  I went into theatre at around 11:15 and there were all the theater staff waiting for me, the anethatist was waiting to stick the needle in my back and all he kept on saying to me was arch your back like an angry cat, I wanted to punch him (I mean really when you having a contraction you can't arch your back).  Finally he got the needle in and the next minute I knew my legs were numb and I have the best smile on my face, as there was no more pain, what a feeling.  The doc made the incision and at 11:43 that evening my son was born, weighing 3.38kg and 52 cm long, it was the happiest day of my life.  I will never forget the experience and the pain.

Well done to all the moms out there that have gone through the same.

Hi! Labor stories are so much fun!! My daughter was born May 15th 2008 at 2:38 in the afternoon. She was 7lbs 14ozs. I was due on the 25th of May but since 35 weeks I was dialating more than a cent. each week and so my wonderful doctor scheduled an induction for 5am on the 16th. Apparently Ava had plans of her own. I went into labor (didn't realize it at the time) the afternoon of the 14th and had sporadic, not too painful contractions all day. I tried to go to bed @ 10 that night but the contractions were getting stronger and closer together and so I really couldn't get any sleep. Finally at about 2am my contractions were about 6 minutes apart and I was in alot of pain so I woke my husband and told him that I thought I was in labor and needed to go to the hospital (up until this point I just thought they were BH contractions). Not wanting to have to wake up and get out of bed he kept telling me that he was sure I was fine and just nervous about being induced, roll over and try to get some sleep. Well - by about 4 am and after threatening divorce :) we got to the hospital and yes, I was in fact in labor (he felt so bad :)). I was 80% effaced and 4 1/2 cent. dialated. The doctor came in about 8 am and broke my water to move things along. That was when things go REALLY PAINFUL. I had planned on trying to do it with no epidural (this was my first child, a mistake I will not make next time!) but by 10 am my contractions were only about 90 seconds apart and lasting close to 90 sec. each, I was in alot of pain, AND I was so tired from not having slept in 24 hours that I couldn't take it anymore. The doctor came in and checked me and I had only dialated .5 cent. since I had checked into the hospital 6 hours earlier!!! By 10:15 I got the epidural ( I don't know how my mother had 3 children without one!) and was feeling better but with my luck (they told me this doesn't happen often) it only worked on the left side, I could still feel on my right side, but hey, at least it was a little relief. The rest was a fairly normal labor. I got my epidural at 10:15am, and Ava was born at 2:38pm - 10 days early and after about 45 minutes of pushing. The doctor came in the room just in time to catch her! There were 14 babies born that afternoon most of which she was the doctor for so I guess I am lucky she made it at all!

my first one was easy. i had a leak in my water but nothing was happening (labour/contractions). that was around 2:30 am. at 10:30 they put me on pitocin iv drip to bring on labour. nothing happened until 1:30pm. hit me like a ton of bricks! i had 4 or 5 contractions and dilated to 10 cm (i walked around 2-3 cms for 3 weeks beforehand). was time to push at 2pm. she came out at 2:25pm. so that is a total of  55 mins, labour and delivery included. SCORE! LoL... here's where the catch comes in.............................. (lol)...........................

my second one was NASTY as all hell! i went 13 days overdue with him. i was scheduled to be induced starting off with the cervical gel. doc showed up at 9pm sunday aug 10th. at this point, i was already contracting every 5 mins. he put the gel in anyway. so, these (5 mins apart) contractions went on all night long. i didn't do the epidural, nor did i do any pain relief meds with my first one. by 8:30 am i felt like satan entered the core of my body and was ripping my insides out. i actually asked for an epidural at this point. nurse kept saying doc was on his way. well, one hour later he showed up and examined me. i was 8cm dilated. he said he was going to break my water to speed things up. i saw the telephone pole that they use to break your water and said no. he did it anyway. i cried. then, oldschool hospital that i was having baby #2 in was ..well... oldschool (one room to labour in, one room to deliver in, one room to recover in). so..that being said, my water was broken where i was made to walk down the hallway to the delivery room (with my amniotic fluids leaking down my legs - and down the hallway) and i had to step on a doctor stool and do a long-jump (in between contractions) onto the bed. that's ok. i had about 5 seconds in between contractions at this point. that should be enough time, right? once onto the bed, i had my legs wrapped into these "sexy leg sheets" to keep them nice and warm while they were propped on the stirrups. i was actually getting excited at this point because i thought that i was actually going to meet my son finally. wrong. on this table i layed for 3 hours, trying to push him out. he finally was starting to crown. i started getting emotional as i sat up and was watching him come out. doc cringes his eyebrows and tells me to stop pushing, where he (in a quick fashion) sticks the mostpart of his entire hand "down there" and pushes my son back in. he barks at one of the nurses to "run and grab the anesthisiologist right away". where before i know it, the anesthisiologist is advising me of my rights and options for emergency c-section. what the hell is going on, you ask? well turns out that the "swollen" part of my cervix wasn't swollen at all. it was my son's nose and chin pressed against it. turns out that he had breeched on his way out. not only was he coming out face up, but he tipped his head up and was coming out face-first. so finally after 13 hours of labour, 3 hours of pushing, and all dignity lost, i end up in an emergency c-section. my beautiful boy was born august 11, 2008, weighing 9 lbs, 10.5 oz.

I've got 3 kids so far so sorry about this being so long but telling the labor stories is just fun. LOL!

Nicole (now 8 1/2 yrs)
Good grief, I was a young mom and wasn't overly concerned about it. It was gonna happen no matter what I did so when I went in I was pretty relaxed. Had about 12 hours of pretty calm labor, wasn't overly painful or anything and I could still move about pretty well. After that it got harder, I was one of those I'll do it without drugs I can handle it mom's... LOL nope, soon as really bad pain hit I was a goner. They gave me a shot of demerol that wore off about 3-4 hours later. They had suggested an epidural for me but I said no way, I don't trust anyone sticking a needle into my spine. =) Even with the shot though I was still in a lot of pain and they couldn't figure out why. Turns out some boob didn't read my chart right so gave me a lower dose than I should have gotten. Nice! So when I got the next one it helped a lot. I was able to start walking again to help labor along but anytime I had a contraction I was doubled over so I had a nurse following me around with a wheelchair in case they had to get me back to my room right quick. lol. Around midnight (this is 20 hours later, I went in at 4 a.m. that day) it was finally time to push. I was so tired I kept falling asleep. I do however remember the doctor after the first push going didn't her water break? to the nurse... haha... no it never had so she had to bust it for me. Wow did the pain get really intense after that. I They gave me nitrous gas to help with the pain. It didn't help, nothing is going to help with pushing a baby outta you. LOL! But I was really high and I remember thinking when all was said and done wow that was fast. Turns out my perception of time was way off because of the drugs. It'd been pushing for an hour and a half. She was born at 1:28 a.m. haha. Completely healthy though and screaming her head off. =)

Jonathan (now 4 1/2 yrs.)
Well with him we had a false alarm. That was annoying but just two days later I was back and it was time. yay! He came really fast though, well really fast compared to the last one. LOL! Since I didn't want to go in again on another false alarm I waited and timed my contractions at home and walked around our place to help it along in case it was. I did this for 3 hours before I decided to go. It was 5 a.m. Got all hooked up and told yup labor has started. So they kept me in observation this time until they had time to set up a room for delivery. Didn't take long at least. So I was laying there patiently waiting until about lunch time. They don't allow you to eat so I got broth and juice. yay. The friend we had watching our daughter to decided to show up at this time and drop her off!! Can't remember why, I just remember my ex coming into the room with her and being very upset. The nurses at least were very good about this. One took her out of the room to the waiting room and sat with her, watching t.v. and playing with toys. They gave me a shot of demerol around this time too because it was getting harder and I was quite upset about my daughter seeing me like that so they tried to ease the pain. Then out of nowhere my labor started to slow down. So the nurses put me in a jet tub to relax and wait to see if it'd pick up again on it's own. Wow did that work. I went from almost stopping to having to push in a half hour. I screamed for the nurse and she came running in, helped me towel off and back to the delivery table. It took a bit since I had two contractions during this time and she kept telling me not to push. I was trying not to! lol I didn't want to have my baby drop on his head as his first experience in the world. So we got me on there another nurse came in and said the doctor is on his way he's 10 minutes out. So the nurse told me to lay back and push if I had to it'd be ok. Then she noticed my water hadn't broken this time around either, she saw a bubble or something so she broke my water for me yet again. lol! The doctor walked in and the nurse checked me again as I was having a contraction at that moment. I remember hearing... doctor hurry up the baby is crowning... LOL! He turned around and walked to the table in time to catch my son. That was about it. In all it was about 15 minutes of pushing and 13 1/2 hours of labor. He was quiet though at first but as soon as the nurse put him down in the bed to check him he started crying so all was good. LOL Then he opened his hand and we saw an extra thumb. It was weird, no one would have noticed it if he hadn't opened his hand. It was clutched in his fist. He had a long skin tag that came out from the side of his hand and attached to the end was another thumb! Needless to say I was pretty freaked out but it was simple to remove and since it was only attached by the skin tag and the bones in it hadn't attached to the rest of his hand it was an easy and quick surgery to get it removed.

Caitlin (21 months now)
She was the worst and I only say this because I had no drugs whatsoever with her and felt every little thing. But also the funniest, my hubby had taken time off work but was due to go back for one day since it was a triple pay day. haha. He told me that night as he went to bed, don't have baby, hold her in for one more day at least ok? HAHAHA I said now you jinxed yourself. So midnight rolls around and I start feeling not right. I waited an hour then went downstairs to see my brother who rents our basement, I asked him if he could watch the kids for us if we went in that night. He said of course and then came upstairs to watch t.v. with me in case I needed help. I told him I wasn't sure but was going wait and see how things went. I told him to go back to bed I'd let him know if i needed him but he was adamant about staying by my side. Isn't he a sweet brother? hehe. By 3 a.m. I knew labor had started so I woke up my hubby. He rolls over and looks at the clock then looks at me and goes, you've gotta be kidding me. I just laughed and said I told you you'd jinx yourself now get up. So he does and we start phoning our parents to let them know... NONE of them answered either. We finally gave up and just went in. lol! They could wait till morning if they weren't going to answer their phones. So on the way, remembering how it'd been before with water and broth to drink and that was it besides ice I made him stop at 7-11 and get me a slurpee. The girls working inside noticed he was kind of jumpy and really in a hurry and made a comment about it. He goes ya my wife is in the car she's in labor but wanted a slurpee so we had to stop. I guess they found that hilarious which I gotta admit if I was in there shoes I would have too. =) hehe, slurpee was better than ice water though. Then as we're leaving the parking lot my bum all of a sudden was wet. I went uh oh, my hubby almost had a heart attack I swear, he sped up a bit and goes what? what's wrong? are you gonna make it? LOL!! I said yes but I think my water broke. He goes how do you not know? I told him remember me saying my water never broke on its own before? ya well.. it's either it broke or I pee'd myself. haha. At least we weren't far from the hospital. We got there at 4:30 he dropped me off at admitting and went to park the car. He got back but I had already been taken to labor & delivery so he had to get directions from one of the nurses. We spent 5 1/2 hours in observation because apparently everyone was having their babies that day and they were out of delivery rooms. lol! When we did get there though I asked for some pain medication but the anesthesiologist was in an emergency C-section and I had to wait a half hour. So to help with the back pain at least they got me into a shower with it fairly warm almost hot and had it hitting my lower back. I dunno what it is about water but it sped things up quite quickly. I went from 6 cm's to fully dilated in 10 minutes. My hubby heard me scream so he came in a panic to help me out. The nurse showed up then too because he hit the call button as he walked in and she basically shoved him out of the way and got me back to the table. My room was all of a sudden filled with nurses too. There was 4 of them in there and one was looking for the doctor, still in Emergency C-section but should be done soon. They told me it's ok we've done this plenty of times we can deliver your baby if we need to. One kept looking to find another doctor but the only one she could find was a student doctor who had never delivered a baby before. yay me! At the same time she walked in she said to us too that my hubby's parents were there since they had finally woken up and gotten our message. I guess though my FIL couldn't stand hearing me screaming so he had "to get out of there" and went to walk around the hospital. lol!! The doctor they did find ended up being useless and the nurses did deliver our little girl in the end. LOL!! With it being my 3rd too I was so adamant I wasn't staying in the hospital, I just wanted to go home. So we had to wait for the doctor to make his rounds and give us the all clear. I was home by supper time that night. The nurses kept trying to convince me to stay to rest but I really do not like hospitals and just wanted to go home and have the at home visits instead. =) Turns out they were being so pushy because my hubby tried to pull a haha... the one nurse had asked him when he was outside if me going home was really what I wanted that I could stay. He told her well she has to come home she has to make supper. LOL!!! He said if looks could kill he'd have died on the spot. He explained he was joking but the word got around and the nurses really did not care for him after that. I thought it was funny though. Ah well....

We're now waiting on our 4th... I'm due in 2 1/2 weeks... wonder what will go on this time around. =)

I was induced 2 weeks after my due date November 20, 2006 at 6 am( 2 days before thanksgiving). I was 100% thin and 1 cm dialated so my doctor broke my water. Around 10am I was still only 1 cm dialated and the contractons were so strong the doctor said that you would think i was pushing the baby out. Because of that I opted for an epidural. Of course the tell you to lean forward over this table and not to move (this was next to impossible). After the epidural I was able to relax and sleep a little bit and when they checked me again I was already at 6 cm. Not long later I was told to start pushing and at 6:30 pm my son was brought into the world at 6lbs 15 oz and 21 inches long.

I gained 60 pounds in the pregnancy. Anyways i got induces June 1 at 7pm, I started laboring at 4 am and I was so sick from both ends..I know yuck! Sorry TMI!!! :) after being in pain and the overnight nurse would not do anything for, i finally got my epidural at around 10 am on June 2. I started pushing at 12 pm and my baby boy arrived at 12:44. I was only in labor for 8 hours not bad for my first baby. But it was long, long pregnancy. My lil man is the best thing that every happened to me and my fiance.

yours was kinda like mine....i was 9 days past my due date, went into the hospital on a thursday morning and they started inducing me, after hours and hours, they decided to start some poticon, that was at 1 am on friday morning, i had no pain and my water had not broken and my comtractions were not coming frequently. After the poticon was not really working they decided to break my water at about 7 am on friday and at 8am i asked for an epidural, then after another whole day of labor and was only dilated to 6cm they decided i could have a c-section at 10pm friday night, so after all was said and done, my son Evan Joseph was born at 11:31pm on friday nov. 14 he was 9lbs 12oz and 21 inches long.....it was a terrable time but worth all the pain and the 5 day stay at the hospital.....

wow..some pretty exciting stories!!  my labors and deliveries were boring compared to these.  with my first son i was in labor for 11 hours (pushed for 1) he was 7lbs 8oz, my second son i was in labor for 5 hours (about 3 pushes) he was 9lbs 5oz and with my daughter it was about 3 hours (pushed for about 1/2 hour) she was 8lbs 14oz.  i had 3 pain medication free deliveries!!

Sounds a little more hectic than mine! My labor started at about 12:30 a.m. on a Friday night (Feb. 8 2008) and I wasn't sure that my water broke because i was already in the bathroom already every five minutes! But I called the nurse at the hospital and told me to come in. Soon enough the contractions started and we were on our way to the hospital. My contractions were exactly 5 minutes apart and my genious husband, decided he wanted to stop and got coffee, stupid idea, but i was in too much pain to even notice at that point. By the time we go to the hopsital my daughter moved her head and a nice gush came along with it, right on the elevator! My hubby wasn't sure if i was in labor or not (he didn't want it to be a false alarm) but they kept reassuring him I was. So I was already 5 cm dialated and they were getting me all prepped for my epidural and my contractions were only a minute apart at that point and last 2 minutes a piece, so I was dying for my epidural! Well the nurse had a genius idea to try to put my IV (fluids) in the side of my wrist in the middle of the contraction. Needless to say it busted my vain and I got a new nurse :) Not much sooner I had my epidural and after 2 hours of pushing, I had my baby girl at 6:18 a.m. Lots happened in that 6 hour period though! :)
