HELP!!! I need opinions on Birth Control?

I have the subdermal implant, as well. It's usually called Implanon. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with the Copper IUD. I would like to point out that that's a rare experience, and probably the result of a bad doctor.

I've been on a few of the pills and they're mostly the same as long as the work for you. Pills stopped working well for me after my daughter was born. I was also on Nuvaring and absolutely loved it.

With pills, I had severe side effects once my daughter was born (none before that) where my cycle was reversed. I would bleed for 3 weeks and then stop for 1.

With Nuvaring, I had no side effects at all. It was great.

With Implanon, I have put on about a stone and a half (about 20 lbs), but it doesn't bother me too much since I was underweight.

I never liked the idea of having something implanted in me so I just went with the pill. I was on the mini pill when I was nursing and then I was switched to Loestrin 24 Fe. I had no side effects at all and it was the first time I was on birth control (technically the mini pill was first). I have since switched to generic and only had a little bit of cramping the first month, but no other side effects. I did have a little bit of spotting a couple of times which is normal. I also have a friend who swears by the nuvaring and another who had minera and didn't like it because it kept giving her infections.

I recommend reading the book, "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" as it is very easy to read and understand and outlines lots of choices.

Hi, sorry to hear about the IUD, i've heard the same from some of my girl friends. For me the ring has always worked. You change it once a month and its the same as the pills. Of course everything has side affects but not as bad as an IUD. Check it out: http://www.nuvaring.com/Consumer/index.a...

depo! go with the depo! some women have issues with it, I personally have been on it off and on for four years now and never had an issue, the best part about it, is if you chose to have another child you dont have to wait the five years or have it taken out. all you do is skip your next injection.

I also have Implanon, the rod in the arm. My sister in law just got it a few months ago also since I told her about mine. I know if I was on the pill I wouldn't remember it every day and I didn't really like the patch so this worked for me. I haven't heard of anyone else getting it yet though so it's nice to know someone else has too. I haven't noticed any side effects besides irregular periods.

sorry to hear about your experience. The idea of having some device placed in me has always kind of scared me so I have avoided it. That is just me though. I have known lots of people who have had it done and it has worked very well for them. I use the birth control pill, Femcon. It has worked great for me.....no side effects at all. good luck to you!

Hi i have had an progestogen-only subdermal implant. Its a small thin rod about 4cms long and gets placed inside the upper inside arm, 4 the first 7 days its inserted u cant have sex but after that u are fully protected for 3 years. the only side effect that i have encountered is that u may have no periods (so dont freak that ur pregnant like i did), u may bleed a little or carry on having ur normal periods. Its 99% effective & ive had mine in for 8 months & iv had no problems with it at all. hope this helps.
