By now, my 17 month old son is definitely eating all table food. He's still on whole milk just like the dr. recommends, but I'm concerned about nutritional meals for him. I usually feed him whatever I have for breakfast, lunch, dinner etc. But I also know i'm not the most nutritional when it comes down to eating habits. The Dr. said hes growing perfectly, still above average for height and right on for weight. But hes ALWAYS hungry... an example of a full day of meals/snacks/drinks etc is this:

Breakfast:

1 Container of Yoplait Yogurt

1 Piece of Plain or Peanut Butter Toast

1 Sippy Cup of Milk (About 8-10oz)

Snack:

Honey Nut Cherrios or 2-3 Graham Crackers

Lunch:

1/2 Grilled Cheeze Sandwich

Peaches or Pears

Tater Tots

1 Sippy Cup of 100% Juice (About 6oz. of Juice 3oz of Water)

Snack:

1/3 Cup Cheez-Its or Animal Crackers

Dinner:

*If I cook...

1/3 Marinated Chicken Breast

1/3 Cup Green Beans

1/3 Cup Mashed Potatoes

*If I Don't Cook...

1 Gerber Meal (Ex. Ravioli Pasta Stars & Green Beans)

1 Piece of Buttered Roll or Buttered Bread etc.

Bedtime Snack (not every night):

1 Cookie or 1/4 Cup Ice Cream

Help!! Does it seem like I'm missing things in his diet. Do other moms feed their children more of the "snack foods" or am I the only one?? Any suggestions for quick easy healthier snacks?? *Ones that I can throw in the diaper bag or purse*

You seem to be doing a great job! He's probably hungy all the time because he is having a growth spurt. Just keep doing what you are doing. My daughter is 13 months and on all table food and we eat the same things you do. She loves pasta which is really easy to make and then use as leftovers. She also loves quesadillas (sp). I always add black beans or fat free refried beans to them with cheese and pop them in the microwave for 30-45 sec. It's a huge hit and super easy! As for portable snacks, fruit snacks, gold fish and graham crackers are what we do!

WOW!!!!! you seem extremely on point with the portions!!! i don't know if i can be of any help- but i have a 17th mnth old- and he as well is on table food- he's been on all table food since about 12 mnths. and like yours- he's also on whole milk. but i cant say i feed him (along with my 3 yr old- they eat the same things- and at the same time- except i let them pick a snack) what we eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. likewise if i don't cook- they will be able to pick pb sand., cereal, for raviolies. i just started to buy welshes fruit snacks- they arent bad for the child- and mine seem to love them! i also do the cheez-its and animal crackers (it seems universal- lol) but when i buy them- i buy the low fat ones- and low fat other things for them. as for the snacks in the diaper bag- they pretty much take what ever they want- but they usually choose the fruit snacks. which they can carry and makes them feel as though they had a responsibility. sounds as though you doing a great job! don't worry about things!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
