I just gave my 2.5 year old a bath he normally loves the bath tub. The soap up was normal than when I went to rinse him off he went ballistic screaming like i was killing him and jumped out of the bath tub into my arms sobbing. Any ideas?

that used to happen with my son. However I found out it was because his dad used to splash too much water on him (using a bucket-i don't know why?) when rinsing. (Not on purpose though). So we had to teach daddy how to bath my son properly.

My son did the same thing at age 3. We even more started using a washcloth to"wipe away the soap" and even let him help. Then we.realized he was afraid of it in his eyes.so we offered him goggles and handed him a little 1/4 cup measuring cup to play with. 2 weeks later he was rinsing his own belly and didn't mind us helping anymore. Unfortunately, he had an drowning scare that summer and became even more frightened of water but we did the same routine and he was back to normal in a few weeks. Talk to him, try to figure out why he is scared. We figured out 1, that he was afraid of it in his eyes and 2, that he had a nightmare about being put under water.
