HELP my baby doesn't want to eat because of stuffy nose! Anyone knows any home remedies?

My baby has this problem.. Its acid reflux and u need to make ur baby sleep with her upper body above the lower like car seat position the reflux will decrease so the stuffy nose also u need to devide her meals to many meals..if u breastfeed dont give her one breast unless she finish the other..and pick up a strong nasal spray that helps open her nose..

1. Try a steam shower. I stand in the shower with my son. Keep him up right as long after as possible so boogies can drain.
2. use nasal aspirator to suck out boogers. Apply saline solution one drop at a time if necessary or use aspirator after shower.Baby might cry but baby cannot blow nose. U have to do it for them!
3. squirt a few drops of breastmlk down their nostrils. There are antibodies in breastmlk. U are the baby's medicine. I thought it was weird but I was once desperate enough to try anything and it worked!!!

Nurse following these steps while the nostrils are clear. U may have to nurse in the steam shower!

Suggested guidelines:
-Only use nasal aspirator 3Xday (tender nose)
-Only use up to 6 drops of saline per nostril at a time
-If nose becomes dry use Vaseline around the nostrils.

you can put a few drops of saline or salt waters up the nose and it will all clear up..

Hi, i have a 4 month old baby boy who had problems with his breathing from day 1. We were told it would go away but after weeks n weeks it only seemed to get worse. BEing so young, we were quite hesitant (first time parents lol) to put anything up his nose. So before every bath we would turn the shower on full n hot to steam up the bathroom, and have a bowl of hot water with a few small drops of eucalyptus oil in it, this worked a treat. Also about an hour before his bedtime we would put an oil burner on in his room with a small drop of eucalyptus oil in it too. we also used eucky bear rub.

Is it best to use a cool mist or a warm mist? This is something I have never been sure of...different people tell me different things.

This sounds weird, but my friend did this on her kids... put a small amount of the vicks vapor rub on the bottom of her feet or put it on you while feeding her. This really helped my daughter! Just don't put it on HER chest.

this is going to sound weard but i use it on myself and now on my son i boil viniger even tho its smells bad and u might have ot air out the house after it opens the nasial passages and its not meds or andthing on his skin so there are no alegerys to be afrade of so i say its safest because your lil girl is so young

For my kids the humidifier and standing in teh bathroom with shower on as hot as it goes always wked extemly well! Also baby vapo rub under the nose could do the trick too!

this is what i did with my boy! the "steam room" the nose spray, the bulb and a warm mist humidifier! in the humidifier that i got theres a spot that u could put some vicks rub and it gives the room a suddel vicks smell witch helps! when feeding if u can try and keep babe in an upright possion that will also halp with her breathing and eating well stuffy! hope this helps! good luck

put baby vicks on her nose and wait about 15 minutes and then use an aspirator. Hopefully that will help long enough for him to eat.

my mom told me to take the nose unplugger thing, put 2 small drops of water in each nostril (one at a time!) wait 30 seconds then take the nose unplugger thing and suck it all out, every last bit of it, I did it with my son and it worked wonders, my son was the same way, and after i did this it was great, he ate normally again, it just clears out their nose and sinuses to they can breathe normally

Get the saline drops by Little Noses and a syringe bulb. The saline will loosen the mucus which will make it easier for the mucus to come out with the syringe bulb!

Thanks so much for all the great advices! We got the vicks cool mist humidifier and it did help my daughter a lot! For the first time she is not stuffy at all when she woke up this morning and a bonus I wasn't not stuffy either! :) And I didn't even use any saline on her yet!

PS:
I read somewhere that breast milk can be use as a saline solution too and its true! I used some yesterday because I didn't have the actual saline solution and it did clear my daughter's air passage! Just thought I might share! :)

Just put saline drops up his nose everytime you change his diaper. When you get it so it comes out, suck his nose and put more up his nose. This will help loads!!

Turn the shower on full heat and shut the bathroom door. Sit on the toilet and nurse in the steam and it should help clear it out. Also after the steamy bathroom time is a good time to use the nose sucker!



Also a slight incline in the crib mattress helps thigs drain well at night time instead of cloggin up more, and a cool mist humidifor running at night helps also!

Johnson's or Vick's ones makes a bath soap for baby's that has menthol or something to that effect in it, you can find it at wal-mart. a friend of mine used to turn on a hot shower and use the vicks drop ins, in it and she'd sit next to the bathtub and breastfeed because the sent would help open her daughters passgeways. your best bet is saline spray called baby ayr and an aspirator (booger snatcher, lol). Also, vicks makes plugins for baby rooms that work extremely well. My son is prone to sinus infections and these really helped.

get some saline drops. before she eats and sleeps use the saline drop in her nose and the suction her nose out with the nasal asperator. also get a cool mist humidafier for while she sleeps.

Rachel is right on too, I forgot about that. You would be soo surprised how much the humidifier helps!!! My son gets terrible chest colds and it keeps him from coughing so much!

little noses is a great saline solution. It even has a smaller nozzle to fit their tiny noses.

In addition to aspirating her nose (which you should do at least 3x a day if it's bad, especially before bed) you can use a humidifier in her room at night to break up the mucus. If she gets up for a nightly feeding, suck her nose out again - you'll get plenty after humidifier use!

I know they HATE this and cry a lot, but it really is good for them and they are happier about it after you do it! So I buy that regular saline nasal spay and squirt a bunch up each nostral and then take that blub thing that you got from the hospital, or you can pick on up in any pharmacy, like walgreens. Squeeze down on the bulb to let out all of the air and with the air out, put the tip as far up their nose as it will go (gently and this is the part they HATE!!!) and then release the bulb and suck out all the snot. This is like a baby neti pot and cleans out the infection from their sinuses and dries it out up there. THen your baby will be able and happy to eat. Keep doing it as often as you feel necessary and it will really help to shorten the cold!



I know they cry a lot while you are doing it, but they are sooo much more comforturable afterwards, it is well worth the few minutes of dicomfort.

my daugher was the same she is 8 months now and still gets it. u can buy saline drops from the chemist its just salty water it works by disolving the snot and helping her. hope this helps. x
