Help please! Constant crying?

So, my 5 month old baby girl has been throwing all out crying fits. Not whining, not really even crying, more like screaming/crying fits on and off pretty much all day. Most often she does this no matter what you do, change diaper, give her toys, put her in swing, crib, etc. Sometimes holding her helps, but obviously I can't just sit on the couch all day and hold her. Pretty much the only other time she is not crying is during sleep & feedings. Any idea what could be causing this? Is she just not content or is something wrong? Has anyone else experienced this, and what helped?? Thanks so much!

lactose intolerant? My son was like this, cried all the time until we figured out that milk gave in major stomach pains.

She could possibly have gas, you should try giving her some Mylecon. My son was like that for a while and it is because he was really gassy. Also, I know another thing is when I take him outside, the fresh air really seemed to calm him (when he was just being fussy). There is something about being outside and hearing all the noises and getting fresh air seems to calm them. Good luck and I hope all goes well.

don't have a lot of advice to "fix" her other than try taking her outside, but my advice would be make sure YOU get a break! ask a friend or family member to come by (with earplugs lol) to take her while you refill your sanity cup! wish i had more advice for ya, good luck!

If she is sensitive and wants to be held all the time, why not try getting a baby carrier so you can still go about your business and she can still be held. I found it helpful.

It could be teething or colic. Sounds to me that you might have a baby like mine.... spoiled. She loves to be held and makes her opinion known when she doesn't want to be put down. Mine is 10 months now and lets me put her down a little more but only so she can find trouble. You can try letting her cry it out but if you are anything like me, it will break your heart before she's broke of the screaching. Sorry but my only advice is hold her. Before too long she won't want you to anymore and you will miss this.

I would think teething if this has just started. If it's been on going I would lean more towards colic...but that happens from several weeks on usually.

You could also have a sensitive babe, my friend has a baby who cries all the time (like what you are explaining) and wont stop unless he is held

Camomile tea works awesome for colic. It helps relieve gas pain and stomach aches which is what colic is thought to be caused from. Try giving her one bottle of it. Just make sure its natural camomile tea you can make at home, Its naturally caffeine free so you don't have to worry about that. It tastes like juice so she'll probably like it.

She could be a colicky baby (I had two of those!). My first son liked the swing, thank God, and then when he was more mobile, he grew out of it (6 mos - sitting up & crawling). My second is still kind of dramatic & whiny, and he's 2 1/2!! Sometimes all you can do is hold them - have you tried a Moby carrier?? It SAVED ME some sanity w/the second & now my third. It WILL get easier, and you need support around you as well (lack of sleep & the crying on your new maternal nerves will wear you out), ask for a friend or grandma to come & hold her or help out while you console her. Also, with my children, they could sense my fears & anxieties, so I often held them & swayed while listening to peaceful music. It will be okay, hang in there :o) You are a great mom!

Oh yeah-do you think there is any way that she could be teething???? My daughter loved chewing on ice cold teething rings

Could she possibly be colicky? When my daughter was that age, she really liked to be held and/or placed in a swing-the majority of the time she fell right to sleep. I dont know if this helped but its a suggestion :)
