I am a new mom to a beautiful baby girl named Mazie. She is darling, but I feel lost and sometimes trapped. I joined this group to meet mothers going through depression or postpartum depression or mothers who may be able to help me with my troubles. I look forward to speaking whith you all.

I am the mother of 3 year old twins. I went through a panic thing too. I wouldn't say that I was depressed but I did have anxiety attacks from time to time. I talked to my doctor and he gave me a prescription for anxiety. It really helped. I no longer have to use it but it was a wonderful tool at the time. Just take it one day at a time. Also if you are a stay at home mother like I am I suggest that you take at least a few hours one day a week to get out of the house by yourself. It really helps even if it is just going to get groceries. I wish you all the best and God Bless.

i went thru post-partum anxiety, not so much depression but more of a panic problem. this is totally normal for some women, but not all have to go thru with it. it is more likely to happen to you if you have a history of depression or a family history of depression. also it is possible for it to be worse the following pregnancies. it si very helpful to see a counselor, not that your crazy or anything but as a person that is not biast to the situation. if you are comfortable with taking meds while breastfeeding (if that is the case) an antidepressant maybe helpful too. another thing is to be very open with your partner/support person so that they can watch for the signs of depression too and help you out when your "just need a break". dont worry it will get better i promise you as a nurse that works in the mental health system. :)
