the bumbo is a great idea although i never used one. to help him sit up use a V pillow, and for crawling you can put him over your legs while your sitting on the floor and put toys in front of him, pull his knees into you and it will strengthen the muscles. also sit him between your legs and put a toy in front, and next to either side of you and get him to reach over to get it. These suggestions may be for older babies im not sure because mine was 11 months when the physio and OT did this to teach her to sit up and crawl. honestly dont rush it. hes only 4 months. i had to wait til a week before my daughters first birthday! now at almost 14 months shes just started pulling herself up onto things which means i have to keep an even closer eye on her

Crawling? Why would you want to push that lol. Then they are mobile and can get into more things, lol, Keep them immobile and cuddily as long as possible. Once they get on the move they dont stop. lol. But i too used a Bumbo and tummy time for my kids.

Gabriel loves his bumbo chair and if you don't want to spend the $30 on a bumbo chair that kids do grow out of - you can spend $30 on a booster seat that is just like a bumbo that you can also use as a booster when he's old enough to sit at the table.
Also, lots of tummy time, lots of sitting with him, nursing pillows also help too. Have him sit in front of you with nursing pillows behind him to help prop him up in a lounging position, soon enough you'll see him using his elbows to push himself up to sitting.
Most of all... use patience :) some babies just like to lay around and roll everywhere!
