there is a product called bio-oil you should start using it straight away..you will more then likely get some stretch marks but the oil clare them up and you dont even see them also you should use a cream cocoa butter is great or shea butter use it all over your tummy and breasts and on your back as well(down your sides).every time you have a shower dry off and put it on before anything else..

They say cocoa butter is good and other products help prevent them, but in the long run your gonna get them, anything from a rub, to a scrath will start it. There are some women who dont get them but majority of women do. But they do fade away into your skin color after awhile. I have 4 kids and you cant tell I have any but my oldest is 12years old now.

It's hereditary...I didn't use anything at all and got none. Does your mom have any? I also only gained 32 lbs, I think that has something to do with too.

I say embrace the stretch marks if you end up with them...it is unavoidable because even with all of the oils and creams slathered on to your body, they won't prevent stretch marks, they will merely make them less visible on your body. Just because you have stretch marks doesn't mean your body is done for...consider them battle scars and wear them proudly!

Sadly, stetch marks don't go away! You can use the cocoa butter and other products to help ligten them but they are perm unless there is some surgical procedure, LOL. Good Luck

I've had the same dilemma. I've tried Palmer's Tummy Butter before I gave birth...religiously, and I still got the stretch marks. I still am applying it though, in the hopes that it'll lighten the marks. I guess it really depends in your skin. If women in your family have those stretch marks, you have a great chance of getting them, no matter how you avoid it.

"none of the creams or oils work . you are either genetiaclly destined to get them or not. if your mother has them then you will. just throw out your bikini and get a one piece"
I disagree with this. my mother and her mother have tons and I have very few. the one's I do have I got before using emu oil and dry skin brushing. but even those have faded considerably with it's use.

Vitamin World sells it if you have one nearby. Just make sure it's 100% emu oil and nothing else.

moisturize multiple times per day from the beginning. If you feel itchy, add more. You can use oils (such as bio oil) or lotion.

The best thing to do is to put coco butter on everytime after you get out of the shower. If you scratch it usually makes stretch marks but honestly coco butter really does help once you apply as soon as you get out of the shower.

first off, society and the media tell you that they are "ugly" When in fact they are simply a by-product of childbirth. your body is beautiful because its able to carry 2 spirits at the same time, and then feed that new spirit all the nutrition it needs. your body is beautiful with or without and any one or any man who says different needs to take a long hard look at what being a women is. a real woman, not a barbi doll. we are the life givers, the nurturers, and we play an integral role in all aspects of society. and there is nothing more "beautiful" then that

Well first, they don't happen after baby is born. It's while your pregnant.
Second, if you are going to get them you will. It all has to do with your own bodies make up.
I have them and am not ashamed. I've never been one to worry about trivial matters though. Having a baby to raise was a bigger concern than how I looked. They did eventually fade but I still could give a rat's behind about them.

I tried my best not to get stretch marks, used all the creams and lotions; didn't work for me at all. Oh well though, I have a beautiful little girl. There are some things you just have to give up. Doesn't mean you can't look like a hot mama though. Goodluck and I hope your body is kind to you.

I used burt's bees "momma bee belly butter." I didn't use it everyday, just when I felt like my belly was itching. Someone told me that when it itches it is stretching. I have no stretch marks on my belly and I gained the normal 30 lbs. I wish i had used it on my boobs tho, because they do have stretch marks from my milk coming in. :(

Sad to say your body is going to do whatever it needs to do in order to grow your precious baby. I also had simular feelings as you but quickly realized that in the end it's not about what your body looks like but what your body has created! I was recently told by a close friend that I should be PROUD of my stretch for they helped to create a human life! It's been the best advice I've ever been given! So be PROUD!

I didn't get a single stretch mark. I didn't really do anything though. My mom swore that rubbing olive oil on my belly would keep me from getting stretch marks and I did that a couple times. I didn't gain any weight though. I didn't even show until I was 6 months and had my baby at 8 months. My mom did use olive oil religiously and, after 2 kids, has a stretch mark the size of the tip of my little finger. lol. Good Luck!

Well, unfortunately.... if you're going to get them, you'll get them. But some things that help to reduce you're chances, and the size of them, are cocoa butter a couple times a day. And don't overdo it on the food. Just because you are pregnant does not mean you need to eat enough to feed an entire football team. You really only need a couple hundred extra calories. But so many women use pregnancy as an excuse to eat like a pig. What you eat goes directly to your baby, so try to keep it healthy. Sorry, that's kind of off the subject. Just keep the cocoa butter going, and watch what you eat, and hope for the best. Good luck.

cocoa butter from head to toe, several times a day. I started using it as soon as I found out I was pregnant and still do. It worked well.
