How did your baby get his or her name?? I like to hear how everyone comes up with there babies name. Its something that a lot of thought has to go into. This is something you give them that they will have forever!!!

Well I have to children and Joshua is my son there is no story behind picking out his name, he is named after his daddy. Joshua Alonzo ( 2yrs)

My little girl has a story though.. I loved the name Ashley. It was one of them names that you used every time you played baby dolls when you were little!! So we were going to go with that until my husband, Josh, wanted to go with Marie as a middle name. Well I couldnt see having his grand mother name and not using my grand mothers name. So we were ging to go with Ashley Ann-Marie... Well then we found out that we would not be able to have anymore children then got to thinking, both of our mothers had the same middle name Lynn. So we came up with Ashlynn Ann-Marie. That takes care of everyone name!!
Long story but something to tell her about when she get older!

I have twin boys, Ashton and Bryan.

I wanted to give them A & B names because that is how they were labeled on all the ultrasounds.  I just liked the name Ashton, and Bryan is after one of my friends.  Ashton got the middle name Thomas just because I like it, and Bryan's middle name is James after my dad.

When i first found out i was pregnant i had no idea what i wanted to call my son till my grandparents suggested something dutch to represent their heritage......    So after searching pages and pages of dutch baby names i found "Issac" which means "he will laugh" in dutch. Then after his dad broke up with me a few months before his birth i thought his name should represent his father in some way no matter how much i hated him at that time..... I didnt want to name him after his father as it would be to much of a reminder of the relationship passed for weeks and weeks i thought about to incorporate his father into his name then 2 hours into labour i came up with "Issac Harper Hutchison" Issac - as originally intended Harper - Is His Fathers Last Name and Hutchison - Being My Last Name  ( I figure that when my son is old enough to make decisions for himself he can choose which family name to carry on)

My oldest son's name is Nicolas Schyler. I had always liked the name Nicolas-or Nick for short. And when I found out I was having a boy I knew that was going to be his name and called him Nick. His middle name came as a suggestion from his bio father (who I was broken up with). He suggested Skylar...and I told him that was a girl's name and I didn't want my son to have a feminine name. I talked to others and they liked it and said it could be masculine as well. So, I just started thinking of different ways to spell it and came up with Schyler. When he was born, I decided to call him Schyler instead of Nicholas...he just looked like a Schyler. And I often get asked why didn't I use Schyler Nicolas instead of the other way around...but with my maiden name it didn't sound right. So, he goes by his middle name. And even though his bio father has never been in his life and my husband legally adopted him, I'm still happy I chose Schyler.

Our youngest son is Andrew Cole. Whenever my husband and I got married we always talked about baby names. We had a girl's name picked out for the longest. Well, when we got pregnant with our youngest, we bought a baby name book that comes with meanings and we just started listing them out. There were names we both liked but were already in the family. There were names that I liked and he didn't and vice versa. Finally we had like 4 different names picked out-Travis, Cole, Andrew, and one other. We let our oldest son help us decide and he became Andrew Cole and we call him Andrew.

My oldest is Sadee, her first name came from a song that I heard by R.Kelly about his mom Sadie, I opted to change the spelling to be different, her middle name is Michelle after me.

My second is Savannah, her frist name came from a movie I absolutely love called Savannah Smiles, her middle name is Maria after her grandma on her dad's side.

My Third is Andrew Kevin after his dad, my ex husband, nice right?? lol

My fourth is Peter Thomas, after his dad, Peter is also his grandpa's name, and Thomas is his grandma maiden name, it's tradional for Irish people to name their sons after the dad and the middle name to be the mother's maiden name.

So I have two Jr's...lol...my current husband decided he wanted to name our son after him so in case I ever got rid of him I'd always hear his name.  What's funny though is that even though Andrew is named after my ex I hardly even think about him.  So I don't think my husbands idea would work....ha!!

My baby girl's name is Kadence Ann.

She was born on Christmas and everyone that we meet thought her name should have been Noel or Holly... but that wasn't going to happen.

Her daddy thought of the first name and her middle name is that of both her grammy and gigi.

For a nickname we call her Kadi Bug

We both loved the name Emma in the begining, even before we were pregnant, but after looking through the big thick baby name book, we were back and forth on names.  We ended up narrowing the names down to 3 before she was born and decided to wait and pick her name for sure after we saw her for the first time.  We ended up going with Emma , and her middle name is Dawn, after my middle name:).

my oldest girl is called Elexis, its the name of an actor in the early stargate sg1 TV program whose name was Alexis (he played the part of an alien called ska-ray). i didn't want people to shorten it to Alex so swapped the A for E.

my youngest girl is called Alana, i discovered the name when i was a kid and was very determined to change my name to Alana as soon as i was old enough. that never happend so i passed it onto my daughter. the name Alana was also from a TV program, the main character was also an alien.

My oldest son we couldn't think of a name we both liked. So we had a name lottery. All our friends put a name they liked in a hat along with the ones we liked. We drew names until we found two we liked-Eric Jeffrey. My 4 yr old sons first name started as a joke to name him after my fathers nickname and it just stuck. But since we were giving him a name after my dad we had to give him his other grandpas name also-Kaleb James. My youngest sons name took until 3 weeks before he was born to pick out. Neither of us could agree on a name. But the other two boys had the hard C sound in their first names and a J in their middle names, and we did not want to break that pattern so we came up with-Lucas Joshua.

I always like the name Sierra and when I brought it up to my husband he started singing a Ciara song, for she just came on the scene, he suggested Sienna and I didn't like it at first, but it grew on me.

Angela Abshire, I love your story.  That's wonderful.

We named our daughter Francesca Elizabeth Wing Yun Ma.  Crazy eh?  We didn't know whether our baby will be a girl or a boy.  My husbands father Frank passed away a few years ago so we really wanted to name the baby somewhat after him.  We decided on Francesca because we didn't really like Francis for a girl.  We wanted her middle name to be from the Bible so we chose Elizabeth.  Wing Yun is her chinese name wich means Forever Blessing.  It took my husbands side of the family so long to come up with the chinese name (I'm Filipino) that I threatened to just name her Mulan if they didn't come up with a name by the end of the week!  LOL.

Our daughter got her name from her daddy..we were discussing names and he just kinda threw it out there, we settled on Brooklynn Skye and a few months later decided to add the Marie, it's a family name in both our families, so we thought we'd carry on the tradition. Brooklynn Skye has no particular meaning, other than her daddy really liked it.

My oldest Katelynn Nicole, my grandmother Kathryn(Kate), passed away while I was pregnant with her and I loved her soo much I was going to do Kathryn, but we decided at the last minute, literally, to "young it up" a bit and it went to Katelynn and chose the spelling for my grandma Kate and my middle name is lynn. Her middle name, Nicole, is my first name. My second daughter, Leah Lorain, I got Leah from a dream I had before I found out I was pregnant, I had a dream that I had a girl and that was what we named her, (pronounced Lee-Ah) and her middlen name was after my husbands great grandma Lorain who I was EXTREMELY close with, was quite sick and ended up passing after she was born so she did get to see and hold her once! My twin boys are named after a girl, don't tell them that though. Drew is after Drew Barrymore who I love and people think I look like and Dylan is after her character in charlie's angels. So we have Katelynn Nicole, Leah Lorain, Drew Alan, Alan is my father-in-law middle name, and Dylan Dean, Dean is my husbands grandfathers first name.

We have 1 child Madison and she is 7 1/2 months old. We came up with her name because I wanted something that wsa strong and fierce since I almost lost her when I was 7 weeks along. THe doctor in emergency told me that yes the embryo was still there and had a heart beating but the chances of losing it were really high due to the amount of blood I had lost. Well, 2 weeks later she was still there! and 1 month after that STILL there and doing great!! So when I was 20 weeks along and we found out we were having a girl I was looking for a strong name. I picked madison because it literally means 'little warrior" because she fought so hard to stay with me. Her middle name is Yvette which was my grandmothers name and who didnt get to live long enough to see her first great grandchild born, because she passed so young. Yvette was a fighter too for everything in her life and she raised me most of the time so that is how we have our precious little girl Madison Yvette.

My daughters name is Mia Brianne. I heard the name Mia about a year before our child was born, and I was very drawn to it. My Husband however was sceptical, and did not want to choose a baby name until we saw our child. So we picked out several names that we liked and then wated for our baby. I was fighting preeclampsia during my pregnancy, and I was induced 2 weeks early due to my blood preasure being 168 over 120.  I was given and epidural to lower my blood  pressure, and it dropped so low I got sick. and was throwing up. Next thing I know I have 7 medical personal in my room, because my heart had went into A-Fib. (irregular heart beat). They wanted to do a c-section, and I did NOT! The doctors said that they would monitor me and the baby closely, and if they could lower my heart rate (wich had gone up to 200bpm) and the baby showed no signs of stress, that they would continue with a vaginal birth. They proceeded to put a monitor on top of the baby's head and they finally found a medication that brought my heart rate down to a manigable number. I delivered my baby with my heart in A-Fib, and my bpm at 160. Not once did the baby show any signs of stress or an increased heart rate. The doctors thought that my heart would convert out of A-Fib during the birth, but it did not. So after the birth they watched me for 24 hours to see what my body would do. My body did not convert on its own, so they said my best course of action was to have them convert it for me. So they brought me to the ICU and put a big patch on my chest and one on my back, and restarted my heart by using a jolt of electricity. During this whole time our little girl was absoulutly rock solid. She never showed any signs of distress, and she was completly healthy. So We decided to name her Mia Brianne witch means in My Strength. Brianne is also the name of my sister who passed away when she was 10 days old due to a heart defect at birth.

Again a long story, but also one we hope she will be proud of when she is older.

I have 3 daughters, Samantha May, Elizabeth Kathryne and Charlene Anne.  Samantha was thought up from her dad, and the May is a name that I passed on from many of the women in my family.  Elizabeth was her dads choice and I chose Kathryne... we flipped a coin to see who's name would be chosen as the first and Elizabeth won (I still would have prefered Kathryne Elizabeth lol).  Charlene is the female version of Charlie.  I have always wanted a Charlie and I borrowed it (okay stole lol) from a lady I used to work with.  I chose Anne because Charlene Anne sounded so nice together.  Little did I know (not at all) that Char from the office was a Charlene Ann (without an E lol).  So that's my girls names in a nutshell

My father-in-law was killed in a motorcycle accident when my son was 3 weeks old. So I am so grateful that he will carry on his grandfather's name. His middle name, Loren, is my dad's middle name, my brother's first name, and my grandfather's first name. So his name carries a lot of special meaning and honors a lot of family!

hey there angela, we had a fun time trying to find a name and it seemed we always had the boy named picked out but i had that feeling since day one that it wasn't going to be a boy as far as boy names went we knew for a fact the middle names was to be william as its my hubbys middle name and his grandfathers first name so we wanted to stick with it. The only names it seemed we were in agreement on was zachary, since i was little it was a name id use for my boy dolls, and my hubby liked the name as well. But i knew we'd need one for a little girl because as my instincts went and so did his we would have a girl, so upon looking at names online i kept coming back to hayden and loved it but i was thinking how can i make it a little more girlie so i said to my hubby why not shayden? and he wasn't so into it at first but eventually the more he said it the more he liked it, good thing because we are expecting a little girl in march. her middle names are going to be Marie Evelyn, marie is for his mom who is debra marie and my sister who is melissa marie and also towards his grandmother who is johanna maria,( which we only found out at christmas time) and evelyn is after my dads mother who was mary evelyn whom i was very close to and passed away two years ago and after my moms mom who was also mary evelyn, and after who i like to call my "adopted grandmother" a neighbour we had while i was growing up whos name was evelyn mary!!! so in the long run i believe she has three very beautiful and meaningful names two which incorporate 6 people into her life and her first name that no one has yet... or so iv've heard and we can't wait to meet our little Shayden Marie Evelyn Scriver!!!

We named our daughter Casimira Sonia. Casimira is my husband's grand-mother's name and one of his cousin's name as well. Ever since we started going out I've told him how much I loved that name, I thought it was so original and if ever I had a girl I wanted to name my daughter that. My husband always refused because he said that name makes him think of his relatives and he wanted his daughter to have her own name. Well when we found out we were pregnant, we agreed on Chandler (yes, from friends!) for a boy and could not decide on a girl for the longest time. I had mentioned Casimira once and he still refused, so I dropped the idea and completely forgot about it. The night before our ultrasound when we were going to find out the gender, my husband came to me out of nowhere and said if our baby was a girl, he wanted Casimira. I was surprised and thrilled!! Sonia is my god-mother's/aunt's name. She doesn''t have any children and she is like a mother to me, she is absolutely amazing and I thought she would be happy to have my daughter named after her. Oh and we call her Casi for short.

I picked Zachary because I was orginally a twin but he passed before we were born, Blair is my uncles name and John is my step-dads middle name. I wanted to put something of his in there since he had just stepped in and accepted me as his daughter ad was the only father for me.

My youngest is Tyler Gerald. With Tyler we had a few names picked out for him but all the ones we agreed on were already givin to my hubby's nephews. When he was born the doctors held him up and asked us what his name was and we just looked at each other and said, Tyler. Even though that is his cousin's name he just looked like a Tyler and it suits him very well. Gerald is after my hubby's father who had passed away when David was 16 and meant a lot to him.

My youngest is a definate story... I was at home on "bed rest". Ryleigh was asleep on my lap like normal and I was watching the Maury Povich (spelling) show. There were these two little girls on the show and their names were Teagan and Kinsey. Well my ex husband walked thru the door at that moment and I told him to pick one since we were having problems agreeing on a name any way. I really wanted Kinsey but he picked Teagan. So my youngest was named Teagan Marie. The Marie came from his mom, grandmom and my grandmom. It was a family name all around!

Even tho I had the name Bryan Anthony picked out for my first son's name I felt Steven was nicer. I wanted to name him Steven George (because that was his full name) but my husband wanted to give him his name as his middle. So we landed on Steven Michael. It is funny to me because we have always told Steven that he is named after his UNCLE STEVE and Steve's famiy is involved in our sons life. But my son has so many of his uncles personality traits. Believe it or not all my girls' first names come from characters of some my husband's and mine favorite shows. There are also some other various reasons for their first names though. My oldest is Trinity Ann. The middle name is from my husband's grandmother who passed on 5 months before she was born. Her first name comes from the fact that when she was born we became not a family of two but of three. My middle girl is Kelly Marie. Marie is also my middle name. Kelly is from Married with Children although I don't usually like to tell people this because I consider my daughter a lot smarter than the character of the show. It's not always character as it is the actress who played the character. In this case we like Christina Applegate but wanted Kelly the name. By the way Trinity's name is from the Matrix. It came out the year before she was born. My youngest is Rachel Brooke. Her middle name is from a very dear friend whom we consider family. Her first name comes from an ancestor as well as Rachel from the TV show Friends. My husband and I get a kick out of watching it. We also kept in mind how they went with our last name. I'm horrible at picking names so my husband would find names that sounded great with our surname but he would always leave me with the final decision saying that since i went the pain I've earned the right to pick the final name!
