How do I tell my friend I think her almost 3 yr old has Autism??

I am really concerned about my friends little boy.. he has all of the signs of Autism, but I dont know how, or even if I should, tell her! I feel like if it was me I would want someone to point it out, but at the same time, I feel like she should notice. She seems to almost resent him because of his behavior, but I dont really think she wants to admit something might be wrong with him. Any suggestions on what I should do?? Or any one here with an Austistic child that could educate me more in the signs and symptoms? I have done a lot of research online, but I would like to hear more personal experiences with this! Thanks!!

You definitely need to tell her your concerns. Finding out early and getting treatment is SO IMPORTANT in helping him. Be delicate. And just be honest. Say, "Look. I need to talk to you. I'm so sorry if I'm being out of line, but I would want you to tell me if you were in my position. I think your son is showing some signs of autism, and I really think you should take him to his doc just so he can be checked out. If he does have it, early intervention could really help him. Anyway, maybe you might wanna make an appt with his doc just to rule it out." If she's a decent mom, she will not be offended at all that you are concerned for her son. And maybe if your other friends have noticed, they can all tell her so she doesn't just think it's you. In the end, she needs to make an appt for him. Good luck and don't be scared, just do the right thing!!
