I will not vaccinate my children. I am a health care prefessional and believe the vaccine is too new to be receiving it to know the effects. I saw a clip where the makers of the vaccine will not be receiving it themselves, so why should my babies be guinea pigs to this new vaccine. I definetley feel comfortable with my decision, especially when in MA they are recalling vaccines that were given.

I work in a health care facility and I will not be giving it to my son.. I know that everytime one of them gets a vaccine they get sick, and I would not give it to my own child. I don't believe in giving something to him to help him fight it. I mean do they have a vaccine for AIDS?
I agree with you one hundred percent. Plus, I've heard that all vaccines have mercury in them and can lead to autism, brain damage, and disease.
Autism, ADD, ADHD, SIDS, and many more to be listed. Having a Vaccine injured child has opened my eyes. A german study showed all these things to be Caused by Mercury in vaccines. But here in the USA they deny, deny deny. My belief is if Mercury is toxic enough for Hazmat to come to clean it up....why in the world should we put it intentionally into our children.

My children , hubby and myself all had the Pig flu in July. 2 days of cough and fever. Much better then the 2 weeks of misery from the seasonal flu. Honestly i have 1 vaccine injured child...and don't want another. What ever happened to letting our immune systems do their job.
*** The nasal mist makes you a carrier of the H1N1 for 20 days*** therefor the vaccine has caused the epidemic.

Neither my children, husband, nor I got the vacine. I don't trust it. I actually think my older son had the h1n1 flu last year right before it became all hyped up. I'm more concerned with the possible side effects of the shot than I am of the flu itself.

Totally not giving it.... As I told my doc, if you can guarantee me 100% that they won't be no problem in the long run.. that 15 or 30 yrs down the road, no one will discover that some illness derives from this vaccine then I will give it to her.. she couldn't guarantee it so I said NO. First, it was 2 shots.. and then they found out that one was enough for children.. I think it is a personal decision.. my parents got it, my nephews did also. I have decided to not give it to my daughter although she has respiratory problems that resemble asthma ... I'm taking my chances !!!

Hi, Ciara here, new at this. I had to get the vaccine for work purposes so I had Ronan done too! He was fine. Just a little tired. He received plenty of TLC from me though. Just if you get it make sure you know all of the side effects and have a plan of action if any arise. They can get a bit fluey, tired or feel sick. That is ok. Panadol works!!! It is safer than the alternative! I had it done also and just felt tired! Nothing new though! Good Luck!!!

My son is five and in pre-k and he got the h1n1 shot, however my daughter is only two and she stays at home so i didn't get it for her. I figured it would at least prevent my son from catching it at school from the other children and bringing it home. If h1n1 is still around when my daughter is that age she will get it too. We vacinate for regular flu why not h1n1.

I got my whole family done. My middle son is a "high risk" so for us the risks for the shot were lower than if someone got it and gave it to him. It could cost us his life. I wasn't willing to wager it with him and my other kids. By I definitely agree with talking with your own personal doctor. They know way more about it than the media. Hope this helps!

I WILL be vaccinating my child. Children have died from the H1N1, I would rather deal with the side effects than risk the death of my child. My uncle had the H1N1 and all he could say is that it was nothing he had ever experienced in his life. The worst pain he's ever felt.

No way in hell. I am 27 years of age and I have never had the flu except for the year I got the flu shot. My oldest son was in the hospital for a week with pneumonia the year he got the flu shot and, and that same year we gave the baby the flu shot because his doctor insisted and then he was hospitalized for bronchiolitis. in all the time before anf after the flu shot me and my boys have never been sick with anything more that the common cold. I say let your body do what ist supposed to do.

IT'S THE FLU PEOPLE! The flu mutates every year. Getting the flu vaccine inhibits the body's natural response. Do not get flu vaccines. Vaccinate for important things like polio, measles, etc, not the flu. Stop sucking on the government teat and READ for god's sake. My whole family had the H1N1 flu. You know what, it sucked, just like the regular flu. We ate chicken soup, took garlic and vitamin C supplements, took over the counter meds and within about a week we were back to normal. I have a 4 yr old and a 9 month old. The flu isn't that big of a deal.

I will not vaccinate my daughter! There isn't enough research on this vaccine. It's just another opportunity for the pharma companies to make money. My husband had worked in pharma for 8+ years- and the stories of what they will do for another trial for their vaccines and drugs is shocking. There is no Swine Flu 'epidemic' like it's made out to be. Actually the WHO (World Health Organization) changed the definition of the word epidemic - how coincidental don't you think? I don't know if you've heard yet either but the vaccine is not being recalled.

I am 8 months pregnant have I have gotten the shot. All doctors recommend the shot. My mom works as a nurse in a pediatrics office and encourages it. Everyone in my family who intends to hold my son has gotten it already and when ever he is old enough to get it I am giving it to him also. Sickness and other things posted are not side effects of the shot. Getting a vaccine does not make you sick.

Now that we are on the topic did any of you have to sign any form to get your babies vaccinated for the h1n1 because I was unaware my son was being vaccined for it till she told me in the end?? Cause the previous appointment I was told her was gonna get his shots for the flu an all the other 6 month old shots but I thought it was odd I didn't get asked if I was for it or not..Has this happened to anyone else is it mandatory for children of a certain age?
No medical professional can do anything to you or your child that you do not consent to. That being said I'm not sure if they can argue that you gave verbal consent if you were just like "ok for 6 month shots." I know at the hospital I'm doing clinicals at we have to have patients sign to consent to or sign to deny vaccinations upon admission. My daughter's pediatrician makes me initial next to each shot I am willing to consent to for that visit...there have been shots that I did not consent to and he did not give them.

Yea she gave me a pack early on way before the swine flu scares nothing on it cause the vaccine was non existent. Its not that I'm against the shot but I really wanted to make a fuss about the fact that they went an did it with out even asking or telling me knowing that its such a controversial situation. It bothering me cause then my husband was saying maybe its mandatory now reading this it obviously is not an honestly I was gonna wait till my son was around 1-2 yrs of age before he even had it.

@ Christina! I would definitely be raising some questions about that one, but I dont think u have to sign a authorization for it, probably just verbally have to give the ok... if it makes u feel any better, my pediatrician handed me a stack of papers,, each one detailing which shot she was going to get and why it was important..so he didnt even mention the H1N1.. i just seen a sheet, so i asked oh is she going to be getting this! at my daughter's 1year check up... her ped tried to get me to authorize.. so i asked the obvious question.... what about the mercury in it (which has been linked to autism) and he talked his way around it, saying that the levels of mercury are not very high, and that she'd be consuming more mercury than whats in the shot by eating fish. Long story short.. i wasnt satisfied with that answer, so i didnt do it.. i agree with a previous post..that its still too new and how would u know whether some side efftects show up waaay on down the line. I've been struggling with whether to or not for some months now... but in the end i chose not to!

I've done TONS of research on all of the vaccines that are out there and there is so many that got pulled off the market after it had been out for a couple of months to modify it. I personally wouldn't get it because they just came out with it and haven't had the time to do long time effects research of the vaccine.
Jaime, I TOTALLY get your concern. Im just wondering what tons of research is? Where are the studies coming from? Where can I read them? From what I am getting from others is alot of hear-say. Good for you to do your research. I am so glad you are a well educated consumer! I would be interested in reading your findings/studies because then at least I can review it and who knows, learn a thing or two!!
I had previously said and I would like to remind people that the vaccine is identical in the ingredients in the seasonal flu vaccine with one exception: the strain of flu.
I don't mean to offend anyone. I am just like every other mom too, I am delaying my daughters vaccines, becasue I agree that an immature immune sytem can get overwhelmed by too many vaccines at once, that is my personal opinion, not researched based at all. However, the cuccoon (sp?) effect works well if you don't want your child to get the vaccine, and I agree that children shouldn't be overvaccinated against EVERYTHING and ANYTHING.
Like I said, many families will choose not to, and that is okay. For most families it will be fine, and it isn't some apocalyptic event that much of the media has you believing. If you choose not to vaccinate you are NOT somehow a bad person or parent, from my point of view. At all!!. What I am advocating for is for you to talk to your dr, and if you are pregnant PLEASE PLEASE be especially resolute indoing the best for your unborn baby. Get vaccinated.
Remember pregnant women account for a total of 1 % of the population, yet 6 % of all deaths from H1N1 are pregnant women. This is not a huge number, no, but that is somewhat of a large discrepancy when you apply it to the population. Those percentages do not also factor in the stillborn and miscarriage rate either, fyi.

Ladies just so you know: Just because someone is a "healthcare provider", NA, MA, LPN, even RN, it does not make them proficient in giving your family accurate information. Healthcare is an EXTREMELY broad field, just because someone is a fish in that vast ocean it does not mean that they even have first hand information to give. See my earlier post. Unless they are professionally educated in the usage and studied the methodology in the studies of the vaccine, or has direct training in the education about this vaccine and it's production, much of what is being said is hear-say.
While I am not saying I am a go-to person, I do consider myself and educated licensed professional. You need to do what is right for YOUR family. Whether that be vaccination or not. Many families will choose not to vaccinate. And that is okay, most families will be just fine! But please see my earlier post. I do know that the facts in my earlier post are based on sufficient data from the CDC collected from the DPH, which come from communities across America, and that my recomendations have come from my own studies of the literature. (Not to mention what I have actually SEEN on the floors in a hospital)
Do not choose whether or not to vaccinate based on what you have "heard" or, even based on what I'm saying. Go to your doctor, any GOOD pedi or pcp has done their research and knows a thing or two about these vaccines.

I have a 2 1/2 yr old. I chose not to give her any Flu shots. I think that her body needs to learn to fight off things like that without forcing it into her system. I just make sure that we wash our hands a lot and that she is taking a natural multi vitamin specific for her age and also taking at least 1 chewable vitamin C a day. I don't let her have a lot of sugar either. In fact very little sugar if any. (jncluding most juices that say they are natural.Look at how much sugar they have.) It will lower your immune systems ability to fight off infections.
