My daughter's had diaper rash now for about a week in just one spot and I keep applying desitin and it doesn't seem to be helping. Is there anything else I could be doing?

There is a cream called triple paste. Put that on and some corn starch. Works like a charm for my baby. Hopefully it will work for you. DO NOT USE BABY POWDER!!!

I'd take her to the doctor. My daughter ended up with a yeast infection in the skin that nothing but a prescription cream would clear up. Another friend's son had a fungal infection, again something only a prescription cream would clear up. Prescription cream and lots of bare bum time :)
We found that citrus fruit (oranges) would trigger rashes for my daughter, no matter how dry and clean you kept her.
My friend used cornstarch on both of her girls and rarely had to fight a bum rash. Might be something to try.

my kids have never had a diaper rash but i have heard that using just a thin coating of some kind of diaper rash cream and then with some baby powder or giving them an oatmeal bath and then some fresh air. But what i have alway done is every time it was feeding i would change their diaper even if it was just a little wet and then after a bath give them a few mins to air out and it seems to work! hope this helps.

HEY, I AM A MOM OF TWO. MY SON ALWAYS SEEMED TO HAVE DIAPER RASHES. DESITIN NEVER WORKED FOR EITHER OF MY CHILDREN. I USED AN OINTMENT CALLED CORONA. IT'S NOT A PRESCRIPTION BUT IT IS BEHIND THE COUNTER. I KNOW THAT MOST WAL*MART STORES HAVE IT!!!

when our son had a diaper rash the dr told us to get neo statin cream you don't need a perscription but you do have to ask the pharmacist for it! ( it worked wonders)

You could try A+D Orignal Ointment, it has kind of a mediciny smell to it, but it seems to work on "stubborn" diaper rashes. I also use baby powder that has cornstarch in it to keep the moisture at bay. If all else fails, I would take your kiddo in to their doctor just in case they are having a allergic reaction or possibly something else.

Simple and cheeper then rash cream. Petroleum Jelly. I took my son in to have his cercumcision and he had a slight rash. I was using Balmex to treat. Doctor said Petroleum Jelly was better. To use on his area to help to kepp diaper from sticking to his penis so it would heal faster protect his skin. I apllied it to his cercumcision until it healed then I would put a layer on the daiper itself to protect his skin. The rash was gone in less then a day. So I continued with then layer on the daiper and I haven't had to worry about rash since then. Baby powder can be harmful to babies lungs under 1 if inhailed.

Hi there,
Thankfully my son didn't get too many diaper rashes, but when he did I used Penaten. This product is available almost anywhere, I get it from Wal Mart. Penaten ( medicated ) is a thick cream and comes in a round tin can. It can be tough to apply to wet skin, e.i. right after wiping skin after diaper change, so it's best to let the affected area dry before applying. I very much like this product as it works fairly quick. Also, maybe try the Penaten clear. You apply this ( and it's very easy to apply ) every diaper change or the last one before bed, this will act as a barrier, preventing the skin from absorbing any wetness. If this option doesn't appeal to you, you can put baby powder on the diaper, this too can aid in preventing skin from absorbing most of the wetness. I have tried Bourdreax's Butt Paste ( sample ) and it worked as well. Last but not least, allowing the affected area to breathe, so let your LO have some naked time. Good luck! :)

My daughter had a what i thought was a diaper rash for 5 days so i took her to the doctor's office. If there are little bumps with the rash it could be a yeast infection. They gave me an ointment for it. U should make sure she really dry every time u clean her and they told me to put baby powered on it too to dry it up!

Could be a yeast rash... My Dr. Mixes a cream that has.... Desitin, Monistat and Maalox (yes your heard right :-) ) It does WONDERS.... The monistat clears any yeast rash, the Maalox helps if their stool is acidy and the desitin helps other rashes... Also you can try to have her go nude as much as possible until you get it cleared up.
After you get it cleared.... If this is a re-occuring problem, try to always use a barrier cream like Aquaphor.

Bag balm!!! It is awsome and you can use it as a moisture barrier to prevent a rash my daughter has always had sensitve skin and gets a rash really easy. You should also have the doctor take a look at but again Bag balm is awsome! It is in a green can and lookes like vasoline and it has an antiseptic so its great and unlike most diaper creams never burns.

desitin and corn starch together. miracle worker! once the rash goes away, corn starch for every diaper change. u will be rash free. once in a while, a little red... whatever... but then do the desitin and corn starch together again. my girl has never had a rash and she's 1. and corn starch is way cheaper than anything else... and works!

This is going to sound wierd but the best thing I found for my daughter's diaper rash is Bag Balm. It comes in a green square tin. I found it at my drug store but we are a small town. I know you can find it at any live stock store. Seriously its great, if my daughter has a diaper rash i put it on and its gone the later that day or the next! I would also try Corona, it comes in a yellow container.

when my daughter had a diaper rash that i couldn't get rid of i took her to the dr. and they told me to do a detergant bath..( take some baby all or dreft and a cap full to their bath water let therm sit for a while then rinse and pat dry) follow up with some beudroxs butt paste ( it has a funny name and is expensive but i have never used a diaper cream that worked as well , and never used anything since, the other diaper creams just didn'[t seem to work or made it seem worse.) Also when you change her diaper they told me to use warm soapy water for pee diapers instead of using a wipe and then just pat dry. Good luck i hope this helps diaper rashes are no fun.

generally, i use petroleum jelly, but if it's bad, I get Canestan - an Aussie version of Myconozole (sp) for thrush. Works wonders. At childcare, theyuse Curash and swear by it, but I vote Canestan all the way!

Have a time to "air-out" the diaper area by letting her but-naked before her bath. Petroleum jelly also worked well with my kids. maybe you should also consider changing diaper brands. Maybe the diaper doesn't make her bottoms dry enough.

My daughter was like that. We tried all kinds of things and the rash would go away then a few days later it would come right back. I would take her to the doctor because our doctor gave us two different creams and an oral antibiotic that finally got it to go away. I can't remember the names of them now but it really helped. Since then she hasn't had a rash. When she starts to get red I put corn starch powders on her and it goes right away. We are working on potty training now so maybe that will take care of everything. Good luck!

try a&d ointment or plain vaseline. u might wanna use sensitive wipes too (the scented wipes may be too strong for her skin) and wait til she's dry b4 applying the cream. u can also do like everyone else said and let her go with out a diaper to let her bottom air out. :)

Try A&D ointment. It works wonders, the best kind is the oil based on because it keeps the bottom from getting wet. My daughter had one from day care and it cleared it up in about a day or so. Plus it's great to have around the house because you can use it for more than just diaper rash. I personally am accident proned, so I can use it for small cuts and burns.
