How long did you wait til the next baby?

My kids are 7 years apart, both c-sections. First one emergency, second was an unsuccessful VBAC, baby simply didnt drop or enter birth canal. I do know people who have had successful VBACs, but they had their first child naturally.

Hi I'm currently 18 weeks pregnant with my second child. My first child is 19 months and was born by emergancy c-section. My midwife and consultant have been very supportive of a vbac because of the reasons behind the c-section. It took me over 17 hrs to get from 5 to 10 cms and that was with the help of hormones! My baby was back to back and his head was twisted slightly so is head never became fully engaged then he showed signs of distress, leading to c-section. As the c-section was baby orientated and not through my body not doing its job I've been told it's very likely I'll be able to have a vbac, as long as this baby's in a better position!! As for pregnancies quite close together, the second was planned as I do want them to be close in age. I do feel a lot more tired though and I'm unable to rest as much as I've got my boy to look after but I do have a very supportive husband which definately helps! I'd say to have a baby as soon as you feel ready to. For the c-section, talk to your midwife about why the c-section happened, if it was more the position of the baby, then you may well be able to have a vbac. medically your advised to wait at least 12 months for your organs to move back into place after being moved by your baby befor having another pregnancy, i think to give you the best chance at a sucsessful pregnancy i would wait 18months. i have 2 children, aged 11 + 3. i waited so long as my 1st born was unwell. i also miscarried befor having my 2nd child. just a tip i wish id have thought of is - when your pregnant 1st time you can nap when you want, 2nd time when your exhausted, feeling really ill,swollen ankles etc . . you still have to take care of your child you already have. i was so incredably tired, walking to the shop was a massive effort, cleaning the house, looking after my child took it out of me and i was fit and healthy, thankfully just extrem 'morning' (noon and night) sickness. again bear in mind not all pregnancies are plane sailing, you could be confined to bed rest for medical reasons, could your partner or anyone look after your 1st born and yoursellf for a few weeks, months . . . ? i hope whatever you decide, all goes well and your family keeps well. best of luck x

My son is three months born August 27th, and I've already been talking to my husband about starting to try for our second next July. My son has hit every mile stone early, rolling over at 4 weeks,pulling himself to a sitting postion, he's now sleeping through the "night" he gets up between 4-7am to eat. He's trying so hard to Army crawl and gets mad when he doesn't move (blood curling screams over it!) So I kinda feel like I'm being deny the expirence because I don't get to enjoy one milestone before he's doing the next! If that makes any sense?
AND most importantly I want them to be close in age my husband and his brother are 7 years apart, they are now slowly building a relationship. It's the first time in their lives they have something in common (our kids our 18 months apart almost to the day)
It just depends on when you and your sweetheart are ready to expand your family!

my daughers are exactly 2 years and one month and 5 days apart..i had to have a c section because my baby girls head was too big and i was stuck at 4 cm for 2 days.....and all my doctors told me is that after a c setion a vaginal birth was not promoted just because there can be complications your incision can rip etc.. the doctors told me that i can only have a total of 3 children and ive had 2 already so were going to wait until my youngest is 3 to try and get pregnant again

I never thought I would have a c section. I was MAD when I did and said the whole time on the table "I'm buying the rest of my babies." Clearly that's not the case now. I've been working my butt off at the gym so I'm healthy and in shape for baby number 2.

I am expecting my third. the first two were c section and were 3 yrs apart. I wanted to have my daughter baby #2 by VBAC. But i was told that was not an option in the town we live in because our hospital did not have a on staff anesthesiologists. and they would not have one avalible if something bad was to happen during birth. I thought about a midwife, but i got scared after a friend of mine did do a VBAC and then had to have a hysterectomy. she is only 30. i would weigh all options and talk to your Dr. and make the best choice for your body and your family.

(oh sorry i also had a C-section, and VOWED myself to get my tubes tied right when i got out of the hospital!!!! "I never want to hae another one" i said cause holy-cow... the pain of the stapples is undescribible to anyone eles who hasnt had it!!!...But... now that my little girl is all indipendent.. i really want another one!!)

When my daughter started walking at 9 months...i wanted another baby cause she was such a big girl now and just after christmas she s going t o already be in a big girl bed (December she turns ONE!!)...I miss having a little baby, but My fiancee had me convinced tht he wants to wait at least nother "Half" a year untill we talk about it again Untill we get married next summer, and cause he wants to enjoy our little girl befoer we introduce and share our love with another blessing ♥
But between us.... i still wat another one right now! LOL

my 1st and 2nd are 2 years and a few months apart my 2nd and 3rd are almost 19 months . I cant help you with VBAC because I had all three vaginal births. although I have known quite a few ladies that did have c-sections and we never successful with a vaginal delivery after. But dont let that discourage you. When you do become pregnant again talk with your doctor and they will tell you if they think you can do VABC. good luck
