How long was labor with each child?

I am expecting my 3rd child and I've heard women say that each labor and delivery is much faster than the 1st. Has me a little scared because with my 1st child my labor and delivery lasted 8 1/2 hrs, but with my 2nd it was only 3 1/2 hrs. I hope the 3rd doesn't end up coming before I get to the hospital, LOL.

I have only had one, and I had my first labor contraction at 10:00pm and we went to the hospital around 5:30am..they had to break my water and give me pitosin. I had him at like 6:45pm so I guess I was in labor for almost 21 hours.

My 1st was 2 hrs, my 2nd was 11 and my 3rd was 6! I think the 3rd and 1st were the easiest but by the 3rd I def knew what I was doing

I have three children, with my first I was in labor for 12 hours, second was 6 hours & my third was 22 1/2 hours. So your third one may not come as fast as you want, mine sure didn't!

My first child (induction) was 4hrs. 48min. My second (also induction) was 3hrs. 38min. I guess the more kids you have the better prepared your body is to handle it.

my first was 6hrs and my second was 30min, but they are also only 2 1/2 yrs apart. so it also depends on how many years the children are apart from one another.

I think that everyone is different and just depends on ur body and the pregnancy. or at least that is what i am telling myself since if the saying is true this labor will go to fast for me. My first I was in labor for only 3 hours and my second I was in labor for 1 hour, they didn't even get my IV in before I started to push and I live 45 min from the hospital so if this third baby comes even faster then the last looks like we're gonna need to be in a hotel the last week of my pregnancy! let us know how it goes though! Good luck!

i have heard the same and god i hope it is true.. i started having contractions saturday morning at 3am and didnt deliver until moday at 9pm... yes thats right 2.5 days of labor... and i waited until monday at noon for the epidural.. i just couldnt take it anymore ( i had not slept the entire time) gotta let us know how long your labor is with this child.. and you are so lucky to have had short labors

it all depends...my first i was in labour for 12 hrs and my second my water broke but i didnt go into active labour until 2 and a half hrs before he was born. i was dialated but no contractions. i remember my dr telling me that his wife went backwards. her first was 12 hrs...2nd was 6 and third was 18. i think it just all depends on the person

I wouldn't say that is true with my first child my water broke so she was fast my second child was long and painful my third child was born at 34 weeks and there was no stoping him he was very fast and scary so each child and person are different sorry to say

I have 4 wonderful little boys...my first labor which was induced and the doctor had to break my water at 5cm to get it goin was 9 hours, my second was 7 hours and the doctor had to break my water when I was 6cm, my third my water broke at home (he was only one that was late..by 11 days) the labor was 1 hour 55 minutes and my last son was 8 hours and again had to have my water broken. So I don't think anyone can accuratly say how long labor will be....

I only have 1 child but i was in labor for 33 hours. Mostly my doctors fault, he didn't want to come to the hospital so he sent me home while i was still having contractions. Sure enough I was back in that night, and had him the next morning.

Good luck to ya!!

Well I have 3 kids my 1st lasted 13 1/2 hours then 9 years later I had baby #2 which labor was 17 hours and just had my 3rd 2 months ago and her labor was 16 hours. I guess it really depends for me I tend to have long labors but short pushing time, all 3 of my kids i only pushed 10-20 minutes. I was told labor gets shorter each time as well but gone through what I did I find it's just a myth

Hi I have two daughters. My first one took me 18 hours. But this past time I went in to be induced at 6 am they started inducing me at 7:45 am and then they stopped around 9 am cause I didnt sign up for the epidural. I wanted to do it without any meds. Around 9:45 am she was on her way. I delivered her at 11:45 am. I would recommend doing it without any pain meds if you can. It makes it more memorable. GOOD LUCK!!

Hi I have had four children. My first was c-section due to comp's otherwise would have been 3 1/2hrs, my second was 3 hrs my third, 1 1/2hrs and my fourth under 50mins. So for me they did get faster

Less than 7 1/2 hour for me. My water broke at 7pm and he was born at 2:12. He's my first, intrestingly enough my mother just missed seeing her third grandchild born, second grandson. She did have a 4 hour drive.

I only have had 1 baby, I was 5 cm dialated and my doctor sent me to the hospital to be monitored around 3 pm. They asked if I wanted to go home and wait or get induced around 6 pm, they induced me at 7 pm and he was born 5 hours later at midnight.

I have one child and had to be induced because I was 6cm dilated, but not in labor. I was in active labor for 3 hours 45 minutes. I consider myself very blessed!

My first was 12am to 13:13 the next day...so 13 hrs. (over 3 hrs pushing phase -yuck)
My second was 8pm to 4pm the next day ... so about 20hrs (40mins pushing).
I have to say the longer labour was easier as I really found the pushing phase so hard the first time while the contractions were bearable all the way through both times with some gas and air.
People are usually surprise that my second labour was so much longer so I don't think its the norm at all.

I was induced with my first and it was about 10 hours from the time they started the pitocin drip until she was born. My son was delivered within about 5 hours from my first contraction and about 2 1/2 hours from the time we actually went to the hospital.

I am currently pregnant with my 3rd (due april 10th). My son who is 7 was 53hrs of labor, 2 hrs were pushing They had to break my water at 1cm. My daughter who is 1 was 15.5 hrs of labor & only pushed thru 2 contractions, My water broke & thats when I started steady contractions. I am hoping this one goes even quicker. As long as I am term & baby is healthy I will deal with water it takes. So excited!

I only have one child and his labor lasted exactly 24 hours. However, my mom had 4 kids and my sister, the eldest, was 8 hours, I was next but longer at 14 hours, my little brother was 8 hours also, but my littlest brother was quick. My mom was at work and started to "cramp" around 5pm so she decided to go to the emergency room, her water broke by 6:30pm and my little brother was born at 7:11pm. So in total it was a little over 2 hours. Hopefully your next one will be quick. Congratulations!
