When I came home from the hospital with my son they gave me a "Formula Fact Sheet" and I just found it so I'll type out what it says:

0-1 month

Number of bottles in 24 hours: 6-10

Amount of formula in each bottle: 3-4oz

1-2 months

Number of bottles in 24 hours: 6-8

Amount of formula in each bottle: 4-5oz

2-3 months

Number of bottles in 24 hours: 5-6

Amount of formula in each bottle: 5-7oz

3-4 months

Number of bottles in 24 hours: 5-6

Amount of formula in each bottle: 5-7oz

4-5 months

Number of bottles in 24 hours: 5-6

Amount of formula in each bottle: 5-6oz

5-6 months

Number of bottles in 24 hours: 5-7

Amount of formula in each bottle: 5-6oz

6-8 months

Number of bottles in 24 hours: 4-5

Amount of formula in each bottle: 6-7oz

9-10 months

Number of bottles in 24 hours: 3-4

Amount of formula in each bottle: 6-8oz

11-12 months

Number of bottles in 24 hours: 3-4

Amount of formula in each bottle: 6-8oz

Remember these are just guidelines. I had my son switched over to whole cow's milk at 7 months old. He's been drinking 8oz since then. At 14 months old, he's still getting 4 bottles a day. I hope this answers your question about how many ounces your 6 week old should eat!

My 8 weeks old ranges from about 4-5 oz every 3-4 hours in a 24 hour period.

I agree, how many ounces a 6 week old should eat all depends on the baby, they will let you know when they are hungry and they will let you know when they are full. If they over eat they will simply spit up.

My Daughter is 6 weeks old and drinks between 4 or 5 bottles a day and between 3 1/2 to 4 oz each bottle should I be worried she seems to be ok?

im in australia, so im not quite sure what an ounce equals to but i use to go by my sons weight to how much formula i gave him. i also use to add a teaspoon of farex to his bottle as it keeps them full for longer. my doctor actually recommended that i should do it that way.

It depends, really. But I found that my son, around 6 weeks, ate about 4 ounces give or take some.

That's true but all my kids at that change was eating a little baby cereal because the milk wasn't filling them up. So it's true how many ounces a 6 week old should eat depends on the child.

my son drank 2-4 oz every 2 hours... there stomach is very small and can only hold so much. my doctor told me not to overfeed him because of that. if u do they will have a problem with spitting up

feed on demand feed them as much as they will eat, a baby knows when they are full, typically its around 4 ounces a feed

My son was about 6 weeks when he started taking 4oz and wouldnt want anymore than that BUT we had to feed him every 2 hours. He ate like this forever and now at 9 months he takes 6 but every 2 hours and about 4 with meals. He is average weight. I think he had a fast metabolism and I asked the doctor if it was ok to be feeding him this much this often and he said all babies are different.

Bottom Line: Feed however much your baby wants and if it is often then it is ok. Your baby knows when she is hungry and how much she wants!

I have to agree with Tracy. My daughter is 9wks old and takes about 4-6oz of formula every 4 hours. When my son was that age he would refuse to eat more than 2-3oz at a time, but would eat every 2 hours.

At six weeks usually a 4 oz bottle is enough but if they don't act satisfied try 6oz. How many ounces a 6 week old should eat really depends on the baby. You want to make sure that the baby is satisfied or you'll be feeding her more than usual.
