I ask my Dr. all the time how much my little man should eat! I always get the same answer as long as he is happy, not throwing up and is gaining weight like he should be it is fine. Then when I tell them that my 7 week old son would eat 7 oz. a feeding they say that is too much! I would think that they would be more concerned with how much they eat altogether in a day rather than how much they eat at one feeding. How much does your baby weigh? They say it should be 1/2 their weight is how many ounces they should eat at each feeding. Ex. if your baby weighs 10 pounds they should be eating around 5 oz. each feeding. My question is what if they eat 6 oz. each feeding, but go anywhere from 3-5 hours between feedings and also sleep through the night for a 12 hour stretch? Wouldn't you think that would be better than eating 5 oz. and eating every 2-3 hours 24hrs. a day. Sorry to ramble on.

At that age I think my daughter was drinking about 4-6oz. She always ate every 3 hours and was breast and bottle fed. If you think your baby wants more, make a bottle bigger than your normally would and then see how much they drink.

My son is 3 months and drinks about what a five month should be drinking, each person is different and babies are the same, all 3 of my children had bottles every 4-5 hours as babies so when he drops to about 3 hourly I bump up the amount and i always do a top up feed about 11pm so he sleeps all night. The midwife told me as long as your baby is drinking and gaining weight weekly everything is ok. However if you are concerned about how much your 10 week old should eat I would also seek the advice of your healthcare professional.

Thank you so much guys! She's been going through this change where she goes longer stretches of time without eating. She eats 4 oz every 4 hours and I just wanted to make sure she was eating enough! Sometimes she sleeps for about 6 hours and downs a 4 oz bottle when she wakes up and sometimes I wonder if it's enough........

How much a 10 week old should eat depends on the baby. My son was having 6 bottles a day. You know over a 24 hour period. They were about 150ml to 180ml but he was a fast grower very hungry but my daughter was pretty much what the tin said. If your baby is hungry they usually let you know. Make regular visits to your health nurse. Things get better.

They should eat about 6 ounces...If they eat 8oz then that's okay!  All babies are different.  My baby ate all the time and never gained a pound.

At 10 weeks I believe my daughter was drinking 3 1/2 to 4 oz every 3-4 hours! She was sleeping through the night by about 4 weeks. When she was taken off the bottle at a year (she is now 15 months) she was only up to 5 oz and sometimes would not finish the whole bottle! How much is your baby eating and how often? Do u feel like the baby is not eating enough or too much? My daughter always gave me a really good idea as to when I needed to bump her up on the amount of formula I was giving her! Hope this helps you figure out how much your 10 week old should be eating!
