We dont have a girl yet but if we do the idea is to wait till she understands about the pain and cleaning then everyday, mine were done just after i turned four it took months of begging apparently and my mum pinching my ear lobe to show that it would hurt but i was determined, so she took me then made me help clean then everyday so i followed through on my promise. i believe this was a great way of doing it as it took me till i was 13 to get my second set(didnt last long i now have 3 in one and 5 in the other!) it definately comes down to personal choice and your own beliefs.

She was 2 months old. Wanted to get it done sooner rather than later. They don't remember it, they cry for 10 seconds, and they can't grab their ears yet so it gives them time to heal.

I had my daughter's ears done at 2 months old. She went for her shots and her ears at the same time in the doctor's office. Some Dr's will do thier ears and some don't. Luckly our dr does. S he had no clue she had ear rings in her ears. She never touched them or played with them.

I got my daughters ears pierced at 6 months old. She cried for 2 seconds then just started looking at all the people who had gathered to watch. She is 9 now and has never played with them. However now she wants second holes. She definitely has no idea that it hurts. Good Luck!

my parents got mine done when I was a couple months old. Ma said I never played with them or anything. I'm almost 26 and they're still pierced and I never wear earrings. i don't remember a thing and I've never had infections. You might feel bad when it's getting done and she's crying, but don't worry she'll forget all about it :)

I remember getting my ears pierced when I was about 4 years old. I was sitting in a chair holding my teddy and I see these huge guns(piercing guns) come towards my face, and squeezed my teddy cause i was scared. Then all the sudden I have this extreme pain in my ears. I threw out the teddy cause he didn't "protect" me. And I havent had anything else pierced since. I don't know who's decision it was to have my ears pierced, but I think I would have prefered to have it done at an age where I wouldn't remember. I still do wear earings for special occasions. I do not like the memory of having them pierced.

I am waiting till she is able to make that choice herself. That is what my parents did. And when it is time I am going to a percing place. I don't like the percing guns. They cause a lot of problems plus they are not lincenced like a percing place is.

5 days, she cried for maybe 30 seconds. they numbed both earlobes and had 2 girls do it at the same time. nothin 2 it. i think she cried more from the click of the gun than the pain.

My daughter was 2 months old! she cried for a sec but it was mostly because of the sound! then she fell asleep and has never played with them and she is almost 11 months old now! but really it's your choice! and for the people saying it's child abuse worry about the real child abusers(you know the ones who beat their children and /or kill them) and pediphiles...that's what you should be worried about not someone getting their child's ear peirced!!!

If and when I do have a daughter, I will never put her through the horror of having unneccessary pain such as ear piercing as an infant or a newborn. You know it's true what they say about the human race putting up with pain for their looks and and that of their children. My children, boys or girls will never have any piercings until they are mature enough to care for it themselves. Very cleaver idea about the numbing cream though.

She just got it done. She is 3 months old. I felt bad after because she cried! It's very cute though, she was a bald baby, and I thought earings would help her look more girly.
I know, it's absurd, because she wears pink "everything" and she has femanine features, but, she's my first girl and I wanted earngs for her :)

My mother left it up to my my sister and I when to do it.
It was all I wanted for my fourth birthday, I remember it very clearly, it didn't hurt, and I didn't play with them because Mum had warned me not to.
But I did spend alot of time staring at them in mirrors! lol
My sister waited till she was seventeen, and I took her, cause she and mum just work each other up.
She was very nervous, and only agreed to getting them done after she watched me get my third set done.
I held her hand and she did just fine, and definately didn't play with them, or let them get infected! lmao
My daughter is seven months, and I won't be getting hers done untill she's old enough to choose for herself. My husband and I agree its totally unecessary for a baby to have pierced ears.
She can do like my little sister did and wear magnetic ones till she's ready to commit to her holes. lol
OH, and one of my friends rolled off a bed when she was around a year old, which isn't good, but wouldn't necessarily have been a problem, except for the fact that her peircing caught on something and pretty much ripped her earlobe off.
It was hanging by a thread, so they could reattatch it, but at 26 years old she still has the scar, and you can bet your ass she won't be piercing her babies till they're big enough to choose for themselves.

I took my daughter just before her fifth birthday because she had been begging for earrings for so long. one fell out a few days later and got lost though, and the hole closed up, lol!! she's not ready to get it repierced though, so I told her she could start a new one earring trend in her kindergarten!!

I think my daughter was 12 months. She actually did better then I did! LOL! She just let out 1 little scream and that was it. She didn't even cry really. Turned out much better then I thought it would. She is now going on 3 and she still has them. She has always been good about not messing with them and letting me put new ones in and clean them.

I got my daughters ears pierced at 3 months ... the lady did one ear a lil higher than the other so we had to redo it ... simple and easy she cried for a min and soon as i picked her up she was fine... the older they are the more itll hurt them and the more they will mess with it, but it is entirely up to you^^

I really wanted to get my daughter's ears pierced, I had mine done really young and I think they look so cute but my fiance put up a fight. His argument is that little girls already grow up too fast and wants to keep her "pure" (as ridiculous as that sounds) for as long as possible.

we are letting our daughter choose herself. if she wants them later on down the road she can get them but were not putting her through getting her ears pierced cause mommy and daddy want it. that should be your daughters choice. but thats just my opinion!

Yes, she can take them out, but she can't make the holes go away if they look funny because of how her ears grow.

My daughter was 2.5 months old. This way, I can clean them myself and know they're taken care of instead of taking the chance that in the future she may put her dirty little hands on them or change the jewelry too soon and turn it in to a bad situation for healing. I have never seen her touch them and I'm pretty sure she has no idea they're in her ears at all. Some people wait until their children ask for them and that is admirable, but I figure if my daughter really doesn't want them when she's older, she can always take them out. In fact, while they were being pierced, several people stopped to watch and two other mothers ganged up on me to tell me how selfish I was being to use my daughter "as a fashion accessory" and "how can you live with yourself for hurting your own child?". C'mon people, it's not like I tattooed a skull on her forehead. To each her own. The choice to pierce or not to pierce and when is up to each mother!
