I switched my daughter from the crib to a toddler bed when she was 1 and a half, the other day I just got her a twin sized bed, she is 2 and 8 months. She loves it! Make sure you get one of those things to put on the side of it though to make sure they can't fall off!

my son was in his "big kid" bed when he was able to walk and climb (just before he turned 1). i started him off in his twin bed w/ bedrails during nap time so i could monitor him and w/in 1wk he was sleeping in it for bedtime!

I agree with Rhonda, every kid is different. My sister kept her son in his crib till he was 3 years old. I was able to keep my son his crib till just after 2 years old. He kept climbing out of his crib and learned how to unzip his crib tent (which I still have NO clue how he did). At first he slept really well in his big boy bed, but then refused to sleep in it and wanted to be back in his crib. So we would put him in his crib for naps and his bed for night time. We left his crib up for a few months in his room with his bed. He started to put his toys to sleep in the crib as he slept in his bed.

i changed my twins over at around 11/2. we used the bed guards to keep them in bed b/c my one twin had a habbit of falling out of her bed if we didnt

Every kid is different!! My oldest daughter was under 18 months when she went into a toddler bed, I was pregnant and she refused to sleep in her crib so I set up her toddler bed in my room and she loved it. My second oldest started sleeping in her sisters toddler bed at nap time (while sister was in pre-k) when she was 18 months old and got her own around 2. My son is 21 months now and we are going to get him a toddler bed for his birthday in December. Im expecting the end of Oct so our goal is for him to start in the toddler bed for naps only and be in his toddler bed completly by the time baby needs the crib. I hope that helps.

My kids move into a big bed between the ages or 2 - 3, they have let me know that they were ready.
