Its completely different for everybody, and whether you are dilating or not does not necessarily have any bearing on when you'll actually have your baby! As for me, my cervix didn't do a single thing, the baby didn't drop or anything until I suddenly went into labor, on my own, at 31 weeks and 1 day. I was worried my body wasn't going to do what it was supposed to and I'd have to be induced, which has a 50% "fail" rate if you aren't dilated. But I woke up one morning with cramps and bloody show, and once it started it went quickly!

Everyone is different. My water broke at 36 weeks, and I had to be induced; I wasn't dilated or effaced at all!

I was 3 cm dilated the whole month and by the time I got to the hospital I was 4.

I started dialating at 32 weeks with my second and around 34 with my first. I had both of them at 37 weeks and with the first I was 3 centemeters for the last few weeks and with my second I was four centemeters for the last two weeks and was 5 when I got to the hospital.

It depends. Some women don't dilate at all until they go into labor. I was 2 cm dilated for the entire last month of my pregnancy.

I went into labor at 34 weeks and went to 2 centimeters and then my labor stopped! I walked around for 5 more weeks at 3 centimeters before my doctor felt bad for me and finally induced me!!
