How to break my 18month old sons anger problem?

My son is 18months old. Lately I have noticed his anger problem. When hes upset he will smack whoever upsets him or throw whatever is near him. I don't know what brought on the temper or if it's just a phase that hes going through. Any advice how to break him of this?

my daughter has huge anger problems i tend to put her in the corner and she stands there and screams for a few minutes but it usually better it may not help you but its worth a try
