Hi,

I'm new to this and just wanted to say Hi to everyone out there. My son is about 13 and 1/2 months and he won't eat meat or veggies. I fed him baby food veggies until he was 1 and then stopped getting them. Actually tried to give him one again the other day since we weren't having any luck with finger food veggies but he refused to eat it. He never liked the baby food meat. His diet mainly consists of bananas, milk, cheese, peanut butter/jelly sandwiches, raisin bread, yogurt, and crackers.
Any ideas for getting him to eat veggies and meats??

Thanks.

My son loves to dip his foods into sauce or dressings, so when we have chicken I give him a small amount of ketchup to dip it in, just enough to make it more fun to eat! When I make casseroles, I'm sure to add peas & carrots into it, and he likes them that way. I like the mac n cheese with califlower idea! I think I'll try it too!

If I make broccoli with cheddar cheese on it, it peaks his interest enough to eat a few bites. But he's not a huge cheese fan either...Oh, my son is now eating tuna, so I make him tuna salad and spread it on crackers. It might be too soon for your son, I'm not sure if there's a reccommended age to start fish.

*edit* My son loves eating pizza because he can hold it just like we do. And he used to refuse to eat because I was holding the spoon instead of him. I started giving him one of his own to hold while I fed him a few bites, and then I'd let him try to get a bite for himself. He was wanting to be like us & use utensils! Now, I have my L/O "help" me prepare the food, and he's not quite as picky! If your L/O has some control over mealtimes, Maybe he'd be more willing to try new things?

Hi!
Does he eat baby food fruit at all? Or applesauce? You could mix some veggies in there, a little at first then a little more until he likes it :) I know a lot of kids that didn't like the consistence of meat, either baby food or regular. But eventually they get used to it. Just try different textures and let him try it over and over, not on the same day but you know, a few times a week. It really is proven that you acquire a taste for things. Like I didn't like brussel sprouts, now I love them. Does he eat pasta? You could make maccaroni and cheese with cauliflower in it. Jamie Oliver has a recipe for that, the kids I made it for loved it. Try some veggie spread for his sandwiches, or even avocados. I'm sure he'll start eating veggies eventually. Good luck!
