Huggies diaper rash?

[deleted account] ( 26 moms have responded )

My little girl got SUCH a bad rash while I was using Huggies diapers. Her skin in that area looked like it was peeling, cracked, and bleeding. It was horrible and I kept blaming myself for it. Maybe I wasn't changing her often enough? Not enough cream/powder? I didn't get it.

Then I spoke with a friend who told me that she knew someone with the same problem with her little girl and the rash went away with a brand change. I was curious and went to a no name that I hated because it leaked. I automatically switched to Pampers and the rash disappeared overnight. My friend asked her doctor about it and she told her there is ACTIVE YEAST in Huggies?

Has anyone else had this problem with their girls, or even boys, with Huggies brand?

Yes, in fact I called Huggies and complained to them because of the severe diaper rash my little girl has developed. Thanks for the post, it was very helpful!

MY SON IS HAVING THE EXACT SAME REACTION TO HUGGIES!!!! I thought it was just my son! I know that they can develop sensitivities to diaper brands but not this bad. Good to know it's not just my son's bottom!

We switched from Pampers to Huggies when my son was seven days old. He got a rash so bad it was bleeding; diaper rash cream only helped a little bit. I read this post and subsequent comments and we immediately switched back to Pampers. Within a day it has already started getting better and he isn't screaming with every diaper change. We will definitely be sticking with Pampers from here on out!

I'm glad you posted this! My son has the same issue with Huggies! I even tried their eco-friendly version and it was worse then the regular! I went through 7 different types of diapers (my sis sent me all the leftovers her son grew out of since they were 9 months apart) and the ONLY thing my son can use is Pampers. We use Pampers Diapers and Kirkland (Costco) Wipes

Every baby is different! Some react others dont. One of my aunts had 4 kids that were exsclusivly Pampers Babies. I was a Huggies Baby. My sis was so sensitive she HAD to be cloth diapered (She is still allergic to most menstraul pads today). She Cloth Diapers her son out of choice but has to use Huggies overnights at night

My daughter didn't have that problem with huggies, but with the new pampers with dry max. We now use luvs and the rash is gone. Plus, we have not had any leaks!

Huggies is the ONLY brand that I use/used for both of my children because every other brand I ever tried gave them both horrible rashes. Im sorry your having an issue with the diapers.

i havent had any problems with huggies, ive used them since my daughter was born. i tried pampers once with her but she peed right through them. but my sister-in-law had the same kind of problem with her daughter with huggies, and she switched to pampers, and the rash went away. some babies just have more sensitive skin than others, and it all depends on the baby as to which diapers will work and which ones wont.

My baby did get rashes when he was a newborn. He is now 3 months and no longer gets the rashes with the huggies.

no i used huggies with both my kids and they were fine. i guess every baby reacts different to nappies and everything else.

All 3 of my children have had a problem with huggies, nappies and wipes i find pampers nappies best, and even sainsbury`s ones too. The supermarket wipes are fine no problems with them.

i had that problem with giggles nappies. the day i went back to huggies the rash and blisters went away. used bepanthen cream and talcum powder to help it while still using giggles.

looking back, yes, it wasn't huggies though...but looking back to when my daughter was a baby she kept breaking out and i couldn't figure out why...now with my new baby i was talking with another parent at the sitters and they mentioned that when they used luvs brand they're baby broke out. thinking back i think it was the cvs brand that i'd buy on occassion and she'd break out.

yes we actually had a problem with huggies and pampers....there is some sort of perfume or something in the pampers that my daughter is allergic to. we have had to use target brand diapers but thankfully they dont leak! my MIL said she had the same problem when my husband was an infant and actually had to use cloth diapers on him

[deleted account]

My mother had used the Pampers and got rashes with her two, but not with Huggies. That was why Huggies was the first brand I went to until she got that horrible rash. My friends with children said they only had problems with their little girls... I was kind of just curious if boys could have the same problem with Huggies.

Had the same problem although I am outside the US, so I went back to pampers. Although in US I use the up &Up target brand, and they worked just as good as pampaer for 1/2 the price.

My youngest cannot use huggies for this reason. But all babies react different to every diaper. When my nephew was little he would get rashes to pampers.
