i didnt start showing until i was 6 mths pregnant. and i only gained 26lbs which is very healthy.. depending on your weight before becoming pregnant.. so i wouldnt worry if the doctor says your fine then you are fine.. not all women get big when they are pregnant..

Since this is my first pregnancy I am not positive what is considered average but I have come to note that it really depends on the person. Everyone is completely different.

I gained a lot of weight very early on in my pregnancy so noting when I started showing wasn't the easiest but the doctors said around 3 1/2-4 months I had a bit of a bump there that was all baby. It made me feel a lot better knowing that I was showing fairly early where I gained so much weight on my own.

You know everyone says you should only gain like 25-30 lbs, lol, well ive had 5 and with the first one...dont get scared, but i went from 135 to 155 untill i was 6 mo pregnant then i went from 155-220 by the time i delivered, im also 5'8, and no matter how much i loose, 220 is my "delivery weight" each time, my kids have had 0 health problems and I have had had 5 perfect deliveries, I think that trying to say that everyone should gain 20-30 lbs is oversimplifying our individuality. it's tough having your first, nomatter how much advice you get, because your body is going to do what it wants, so you must learn to trust your own body!

if it's your first pregnancy you might not show till your 5th month thats when i started to show w/ both my pregnancies. about the weight doctors don't want you to go over 40lbs but it really depends how tall you are.

Isn't it funny how we go from always trying to keep the weight off to worrying about gaining enough weight. Don't stress! I know it is exciting but trust me you will show in good time and it will be a long while before you get the body you have now back. The doctor will tell you if you are gaining too much or not enough weigh. I say just eat healthy and all will be well. Soon no one will be able to miss that belly!!

I didn't start showing until the 5-6 mth but everybody is different. In my final week, people didn't believe that I was actually 9mth pregnant, they thought I was only 6 or 7mth. It depends on your body, your activity level, and the type of foods you eat. If you eat a lot of salt, water will be absorbed quicker. In the first few months, I lost 8 lbs but by the time my little one was born, I gained 18lbs from original pre-pregnancy weight. If you include the weight I lost to my ending weight then I gained 26lbs.

Some people actually lose weight during their first trimester so don't be too concerned; and yes, your doctor will tell you if you're not gaining enough weight. Just continue eating and make sure you're drinking milk! :- )

I didn't start to show until the end of my 5th month...and actually looked pregnant at like 8 months.

around 6mths is typical for showing but as for the weight gain not everyone does. I lost weight with both my kids. around 10lbs for each pregnancy. They were both healthy 8lbs girls and i looked better. It was great.

also, i had a friend that never even looked like she was pregnant..her and her mother both carries all their babies like this..to the back...she NEVER went into maternity clothes..it was the weirdest thing i had ever seen..considering..i always looked like i was having multiples..so maybe you're just going to carry this baby towards the back and not show much...again, good luck and congrats!

don't push it!!! you gain most of your weight within your last month or two..i have 3 kids..i was in real good shape before my first...lost most of my weight..all except 9 lbs..but the 2nd and 3rd..WOW!!! i looked like a different person!! Only a physician would be able to make me look like i used to!! So please, please, please..take my advice...watch what you eat...eat just enough for yourself..walk, exercise as much as possible, just no heavy lifting..keep fit..don't worry about the weight gain/loss..your body will know what to do with your weight.. no matter what.. your baby will always have food. The saying, "i'm eating for two"..don't use that..your body only needs enough for yourself..the baby will eat off of that..if you eat a whole lot and gain a bunch of weight..you are looking at difficulties in your pregnancy. Gestational diabetes, toxemia (high blood pressure), etc.. you don't want that!!! just do your usual...the baby will come out very healthy..don't over do it though..you are carrying a human inside..good luck and congrats on the little miracle from God!!!

It all depends on your size. Everyone is different. Every pregnancy is different. With my first I lost 40 lbs (due to morning sickness and thyroid issues) and didn't show until about 6 months. With this baby I have gained about 10 lbs and I started showing in the first 2 months. If your doctor was concerned at all they would let you know :o)

With my first pregnancy I didn't start showing until I was about 5 months and ended up gaining 35 pounds total at the end. With my second I started showing at the end of my 3rd month and only gained about 15 pounds ( I gave birth 6 1/5 weeks early). Both doctors said that the weight gain was in the acceptable range. I think it all just depends on your body type.

i did not really start showing till 7 months, but it all depends on the individual. You also need to remember just how small that child is. www.parentsconnect.com- the website has a calenda and info that will give you an idea what is going on with your little bub, and what size she/he is.

Don't feel bad if you are not showing. I started out at 113 lb and by 20 weeks I had only gained 3 lb. After that I started gaining I gained a total of 25 lb with both my kids. People will start to notice around 6 months. My daughter was a health 6lb and 10 oz.

[deleted account]

I wore regular clothes until my 5th month. I was a lucky one who did not gaing weight though. I came home from the hospital and put my regular clothes back on. NOW for my second pregnancy I am 8 weeks and already gave up on my regular jeans.

I started showing a TINY bit at 16 weeks...BUT I was very underweight when I got pregnant, I had MRSA right before I got pregnant and thanks to that I dropped to a very unhealthy 90lbs. If you aren't gaining enough weight your doctor should let you know. It's different for everyone. I gained almost 50lbs when I was pregnant with my son...but like I said...I was only 90lbs when I got pregnant with him.

I was the same way! I didn't gain any weight up until about 15 weeks and barely had a tiny little bump. I was 16 weeks before you could tell with clothes on, but still hadn't gained any weight. I'm 7 months now and I've gained 23 lbs. Don't worry... the weight will come on it's own; when I finally gained weight it was 12 lbs in a month!!!! Just be sure to eat right and your body will put on what it needs. I was about 5 lbs underweight before. My advise to you is eat healthily, and when it's time for the extra calories your body will let you know. Drink TONS of water. If you can't excersize, make sure to go on a little walk every day. It really helps keep my mood swings at bay...

i didn't start to show till i was 4 months but I didn't "pop" till almost 6 months. i gained about 15 - 17kg not sure what that is in lbs my dr wasn't too happy with me as i didn't really gain any weight till i was almost 6 months.

everybody is different with their weight gain and when they start to show. my sister has 2 girls and with both she only looked 5 months when she was really 9 months.

When you will start to show depends on your own body, when pregnant with my boys I couldnt gain weight no matter how hard I tried doctors even put me on a high fat diet but in the end I only gained 14lbs with my first and 18lbs with my second, then I got pregnant with my daughter and gained 50lbs!!!!!!

I started showing around 7 months, i was very little my whole pregnancy but somehow i gained 45lbs lol. When i was 41weeks pregnant i only looked about 5-6 months. I lost 30 lbs in 2 days. i lost the next 15 in about 2 mos, maybe less. I actually weigh 10lbs less than what i did when i got pregnant[a little over a yr ago]. And Don't worry about not gaining enough, your doctor will let you know how much you oshould gain, and if you are gaining enough!

I was around 5-6 months pregnant before I started showing so that other people noticed. As for weight gain, it depends on the weight you were before pregnancy. An average sized woman should aim to gain 25-30 lbs throughout your whole pregnancy, whereas somebody who is OVERweight to begin with should go for less (20-25lbs), and an UNDERweight individual should go for more (30-35lbs).

That's what I was told, anyway, and I'm an average sized girl who gained 27lbs throughout my pregnancy. My son was born 4 weeks early and weighed just under 7lbs, and I lost it all pretty much within the next two months.

I started showing around my 4th month and put on around 6kgs (sorry not sure what that is in pounds) in my first trimester (yikes!!). On average you'll put on 15-20 kgs above your pre-pregnancy weight. 1/2 kilo a week in first half of pregnancy and 3/4 kilo in second half. Most important though is that the weight you do gain is gained on an excellent diet so dont't worry too much if you put on a little extra. If you're underweight or put on so much weight its putting a strain on your pregnancy your doc will let you know. Lots of women dont't gain or even lose weight in their first trimester due to morn sickness etc. Raise any concerns at your next appointment, eat healthy and try not to worry about things too much (lol although its not as easy as it seems) and above all enjoy being pregnant for me its a really wonderful experience.

PS A book i found really fantastic at putting my mind at ease about alot of things was- What to expect when you're expecting by Heidi Murkoff, Arlene Eisenberg & Sandee Hathaway. Easy to read and really down to earth advice.

I started really showing between the 6th and 7th month. That is when strangers would ask when I was due and people recognized I was pregnant. I lost a lot of weight because of severe morning sickness in the 1st and part of the 2nd trimester and I was concerned that I wasn't gaining any weight. By the middle of 2nd trimester I finally started gaining weight and it may not be more than 15 lbs for the entire pregnancy but as long as the baby is healthy that is ok. We are due very soon. :-)

Good luck with your pregnancy!

About 6 months for me. I think generally if you are tall you show less because there's more space in your frame. Some people don't gain a lot of weight - if you're eating well I wouldn't worry.

I didn't start showing until I was about 7 months along. A lot of it has to do with how strong you abdominal muscles are (I had a 6 pack). Also, I noticed someone wrote on here that you are only supposed to gain 20-25lbs...That's not quite right. It's actually 30-35lbs (if you are of normal weight pre-pregnancy). If you are underweight it could be as high as 50lbs and if you are overweight then it could be about 20lbs. Your OB/midwife will let you know.
