I am 35 weeks and last night started to have bad menstrual like cramps that were about 2 minutes long then would stop for a couple minutes , they were so bad i could hardly sleep this morning im not having any just some aching anyone know what this is?
hya it sounds like u av had braxton hicks i had them round about the same time...they are ninor contractions nothing to worry about but can be painful...u usually get them at the last stages of your pregnancy...try a hot water bottle wen u get t hem helps soothe the pain a little!!

my braxton hicks HURT BIG TIME i get them all the time im 31 weeks pregnant

its just your body getting ready for labour, try not to worry and rest plenty, my braxton hicks were painful too, every body is different lol, it could be early labour which can last for a few weeks, midwives will just tell you to take some paracetamol and a hot bath, hope this helps x

Hey i'm new here, just read your post and was wondering how you were going? Did they start up again or go away completely? Everyone is pretty right here about false labour, braxton hicks or even pre labour as being possibilities. If the pain/contractions are regular coming at least every 5 mins for anymore than an hour without stopping then it's likely to be labour and your body would be gettting ready. This is all normal for your stage of pregnancy. Let us know how your going.

i had these exact same things except they had to stop pre term labor once when i was 32 weeks and once when i was 35 and they had to give me medicine to stop the contractions...so always go to the hospital if they continue or get worse!! dont be afraid to its you and your babies health! and always talk to your doctor!

Sounds like braxton hicks. I worked up untill a week before my son was born and i would get them so bad while at work that i would get sent home. probably nothing to worry about but there is nothing wrong with asking your doctor what he/she thinks.

like everyone else said, it sounds like false labor, they can feel like real labor pains. i went in and was sent home with both of my kids. you know your body best, if you think something is wrong, go. i thought i would feel dumb for going in for nothing but its always best to be safe than sorry. good luck

I agree with the post below, I thought I was in labor twice before I was and going to the hospital to be checked out was the best thing I did. If they are very painful and you can't stand to talk or anything, then you are in labor...I had horrible back labor, I couldn't sleep or anything.

If you get in a tub of hot water and they stop or slow then its false labour or try walking if they don't stop I would see a doctor

Hi Codi, I just had my baby almost 2 weeks ago now.
Dont worry too much I got the same thing its just your body getting ready for the huge task ahead. Some days I wouldnt even get out of bed and I also felt like I was getting a cold about a week before I was due and this was normal too. But in saying this if you are concerned go to the hospital and get it checked out cause there is nothing worse than sitting there worried all the time. Good luck

It does sound like braxton hicks a tighten then a relaxation over the bump, considering the didnt keep going through to the next day but anything that makes you feel worried you should talk to your doctor (always better safe than sorry) it may be the baby gettin ready (i was lucky? unlucky? by first was back to back so i just had excrushating pain in my lower back when i went in to labour).

i'd guess false labor. i had that for two weeks before i had my second, many times. the first time was because i was mowing the lawn, so if u want to really avoid it stay away from vigorous activity... but i also had the contractions sitting on the couch doin nothin....

could be the baby moving getting ready to come out

Sounds like Braxton Hicks contractions, or false labor. As you get closer to your due date, your body starts to prepare for labor. These contractions are "practice contractions". When I was pregnant with my first child, I made five trips to the hospital thinking I was in labor, but it was only Braxton Hicks. For me, the onset of real labor was evidenced by a bloody show, which is when you loose the mucus plug in your cervic, and my contractions made my belly so hard that you could literally bounce a quarter of it.
As always though, if you think you are in labor, you should definitely call your doctor or go to the hospital. It is always better to be safe. The doctors and nurses are used to dealing with this situation, and they can give you more advice on how to decern real labor from false labor.
Hope this helps, and good luck!!!!!

I had this problem the last month of my first pregnancy the doctor told me it was all kinds of things, first braxton hicks, then pre labor, which he said most women don't even feel ( how could they not feel them?). But I suggest you talk to your doctor and never feel embarrassed to go in to the hospital. Always better safe then sorry. With my first the nurses knew me by name the second I walk it. They'd be saying she's back again. I ended up having to be induced, after going 10 days over!!
