Yeah, Doctor became concerned that my baby wasnt the correct size and changed my dates from 12.02 to the 25.02. I have several growth and well being scan, which all indicated that bub was indeed small then average, but was still growing at a healthy rate, Which is what is important. So if I was you Id insist on one, if your dr has not already sent you for one. My Bub ended up coming 3 weeks early on the 05.02 and was a healthy 6lb

I was told that there was absolutely no way my daughter could have weighed more than 6 lbs when I was pregnant. They were wrong. I was very small, didnt show until 5 months and even then it wasnt much. Around 32-34 weeks, I really started to pop out and I dropped. But I still only looked like 7 months pregnant the day I delivered. I was only 4 days early. So dont really worry too much about your outward appereance. The ultrasound will be the most accurate. I had been told at 38 weeks my daughter couldnt be more than 6 lbs, maybe 6 1/2... she was about 7 and a half and was 7 lb 15 oz at birth. Hope this helps

I only gained 15lbs my whole pregnancy towards the end I had 2 ultrasounds to see if my baby had enough room. Thing was I was all stomach and craved healthy food. Thing was I was loosing weight the baby was gaining. Right after having the baby I ended up 5lbs less than what I was when I first found out I was pregnant. My son was in a rush comming out so he was a month early and was only slightly underweight.

Yes, I was small for dates as well!! My little girl was two days over and only six pounds, so sometimes being small for date is a good thing! She is just about three months and is a healthy 11 pounds with no problems :) So cross your fingers that maybe your just going to have a tiny little peanut :)

i had similar problem. all through both pregnancy's i had profesionals, friends and complete strangers telling me how small i was, some people didn't even realise i was prengant. made me really paranoid and i didn't enjoy my pregnancy's at all. i ended up with two very healthy babies. try not to worry about it too much. as long as you and baby are healthy it'll all be fine i'm sure. good luck.

It truly does depend on you and your baby. I'm overweight and hide my pregnancy till I'm about 6 months. I always measure small and I have average sized babies from 6'7" to 7'14" lbs. I think it depends on how the baby lies inside you too. You may expand into your back cavity rather than outward. So it truly depends on you and your baby. I ate a lot during pregnancy and nursing, but didn't gain more than 15-20 lbs. So don't worry about it unless you're severely undersized. Which I'm talking, you're 8 mths pregnant and you look like you're 3-4 months pregnant. Then there is a possibility of primordial dwarfism, but you would have found that in the 5th month during ultrasound. Also, if baby is moving and heartbeat is found, you know your babe is developing and is fine!!! Enjoy the new little one coming soon.

The last 5 weeks of my pregnancy, I heard nothing but "your so small for being this close"... Even the week before I delivered! My son came out at 8 lbs 3 oz and perfectly healthy. Don't worry so much about it. Some people don't show as much as others. I was a size 8/9 and compared to other people, I did look small. It's also a lot with where he is sitting in there. Some babies carry farther back than others. (This is my first child though). Boys pop outwards and girls tend to be wider. Here's also another possibility, some doctors are wrong as to how far along the baby is. A friend of mine gave birth 6 weeks early, and her baby was big and healthy too. Her body was completely ready. I think everything will be ok. (Hey, I even took a premie outfit in my hospital bag because I was nervous that he would be tiny).

I had this same problem then they sent me for an ultra sound and everything was fine. I just believe that every person carries different and depending on how the baby is positioned at the time can affect your measurements. And congratulations on your up and coming bundle of joy

This happened to me. they thought he was going to be a very tiny baby and they also thought that my pelvic bone was too small. Well I ended up having him vaginally and he was 7 lbs 3 oz. (and I was a smoker)

i can relate. when i had my little girl she was 5lbs 4oz. i am only 5'2'' and weighed 97 lbs when i got preggo. i expected to be small. i only gained 13 lbs through out my pregnancy. i looked like i was 5 or 6 months along when i had her. the best i can tell you is to just continue to eat right and do the things ur doc tells you and everything should be alright. u'll most likely have to take more ultrasounds and there'll be a points test that ur bby will have to pass with in 30 mins but if ur kiddo is pretty active then it'll be no problem. i hope everything goes well for you.

My baby girl always measured small. And to this day she is healthy and strong and growing but small and dainty for her age. She's 14 months now, and I wish I knew when I was pregnant that she is just naturally petite. Take precautions, but don't worry. Honestly you might get an extra ultrasound out of the ordeal. :) I was always like "You mean I get to see my baby again?"

I too carried very small and had a very difficult pregnancy. I was so sick for the 1st 5mnths. It resulted in my baby being very small when i went for my scans. I was told 2 drink full cream milk. As much as i wanted and it helped cause i gave birth to an average size baby that weighed 3.6kg.

i wouldn't be worried unless you're not eating healthy or if you drink or smoke because they can make your baby small as smoke deprives your baby's brain from oxygen and can slow down growth but i never smoked with mine and my first baby was 9lbs and i was huge with her but my son was 8.13lbs and i was tiny with him it's because he was so far on my spine while my daughter was all on my tummy, there's not much difference in their weights so it depends where your baby is laying and on your own health.

I didn't start really showing til I was about 7 months and I would always get scolded about gaining "too little" at my appointments, but my son was 6lbs. 14 oz. at birth [42 weeks]. Right after delivering my son, the midwife said I looked like I would go back down to my pre-pregnancy in no time, and she was right. I didn't gain ANY extra weight and was back to normal w/in the first week and a half. So I don't think you should worry any.

yes i was told this through my pregnancy, and at 25 weeks they gave me a huge scare saying she was way under size!!! but then we realised their dates were wrong and so she was still small, but not as small as expected. i never looked big in my pregnancy, and they expected a smaller baby, but she was 3 weeks early and weighed 7 pounds six!!! she put on a lot of weight in the last 2 weeks of my pregnancy. dont worry, if theyre very concerned about the bubs weight they will monitor u very closely. im sure everything will be ok! take a few deep breaths and try not to stress!!! i got extremely stressed out at 25 weeks and i actually ended up in pre term labour!!.
all the best, let us know how things go! :) x x x

I was small my whole pregnancy because I was so sick. She was fine the whole time, but the last trimester or so she wasnt growing as fast as my doctor liked, so I was induced 10 days early. It was my own decision to be induced, not my doctors. She just said it was an option if I wanted to. She was 5.13 when she was born, and strong as an ox! Lol, but I was small too. Don't worry =-)

AT THE BEGINNING OF MY PG I STARTED OUT AT 112 AT MY LAST DOCS VISIT BEFORE MY DAUGHTER WAS BORN I WAS ONLY AT 132 WHICH IS NOT A LOT AT ALL. MY DAUGHTER WAS FULL TERM BUT WAS PREEMIE WEIGHT, BUT NOW SHE IS 40IN AND 37 LBS SO SHE MADE UP FOR IT. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT AND DOCS WANT YOU TO GAIN AS MUCH WEIGHT AS POSSIBLE BUT SOME OF US JUST CAN NOT DO THAT. NO NEED TO BE WORRIED UNLESS THE DOC SAYS OTHERWISE.

All through my 2nd pregnancy my dr said the same thing... I was measuring at least 2cm (2 weeks) behind every appointment. He said the baby would be tiny. She was 1lb bigger than her brother (who I was told would be a big baby - 7lbs 5oz!!!) You never know, and as long as your dr is happy, that's all that matters!!

I was always several weeks too small according to the doctor's measurements. My daughter was born on her due date and was 7lbs, 7 oz & 20 inches. The measurements during pregnancy are estimates & generalizations.

must be a naomi thing! they told me i was small to. i only grew to 29 cent! (instead of the usual 37 i was told) my son was healthy and born on time but due to my small uterus he only wheighed 4.47 pounds. he was totally healthy and i didnt smoke or anything. as long as your doing everything right and you feel like your doing all you can, dont let it stress you! not everyone is built the same...and that shows more during pregnancy than anythin! (i think.)

Yup. My son wasn't too small when he was born, 6 pounds 6 ounces, so I'm not sure why I measured small. My doctor said it's probably because I was so skinny to begin with and that I was "all baby" and prefectly healthy.
By the way, he was born one day after his due date, no induction needed, so I was pretty right on date-wise despite measuring small.

she came out at 6lbs 1oz 17in.
she was born i think at 37weeks.

They thought i was small 2 so i had 2 go 4 a ultrasound @ 33 wks. The mesurements turned out 2 b fine, but the baby was in a franks breach position. So i had 2 keep going 4 ultrasounds 2 c if she turned. Almost had 2 hav a c-section. I was scared i didnt want 2 b cut opened! Finally she turned @ 37wks. Brat! lol. She weighed 6lbs 14ozs so average is 7lbs 5ozs i guess. Thats what my 1st daughter was. But i looked small with her 2.

Is the problem to baby is too small or you look too small? I had both problems. I only looked like I was 6 months pregnant when I was full term. And my baby was a little shrimp, 6 lbs 1 oz and 18 3/4 in.. She was in preemie clothes when she was 1st born. But we were both healthy and that's all that mattered. It's all genetics. Neither my husband or I are very big, so our baby wasn't either.

My doctor said the same thing to me because I was measuring 4 weeks "smaller" but really they just go by an average. They wanted to do all sorts of tests on me and additional ultrasounds, but I switched to a midwife at 6 months because I knew they were being ridiculous. The truth is, an ultrasound is only a very loose estimate of your baby's birth weight. And I think it is used to scare a lot of mom's into "big baby" c-sections and the like. I measured 4 weeks smaller right up until my daughter was born and she was 7 pounds and perfectly healthy! I am SURE you are fine! Sometimes docs need something exciting to do, so they make up a problem that isn't there to keep their jobs interesting!

I was extremely small throughout my entire pregnancy. You couldn't even tell I was pregnant. I looked about 4 months the week before I gave birth. Let me tell you, the doctors aren't always right on the weight. They told me since I was so small I would be lucky to have a 6 pound baby. My daughter weighed almost 8 pounds. It's probably not a big thing. As long as you haven't lost weight I wouldn't worry.

I always measured small, even to the very day I delivered. My baby came right on his due date and weighed 6 lbs 15 oz. Some women just don't carry as far out. I also have a very long torso, so that may have been why I measured small as well. An ultrasound can tell you whether your baby is matching up with your due date.

When i was pregnant with my 2nd son I measured in a 25 weeks when I was suppose to be at 35 week and then at 36 weeks I was at 33 weeks and then 37 weeks I was 35 according too the doctors I was small and small fetal wt. he was born at 38wks and 3 day I gave birth to a 6 lbs 4oz 18 in long prefect baby boy, now me and his daddy are small I wt 106 and he wt 140 I only gain like 35 lbs

[deleted account]

I was small for the gestational age. It was around 30 weeks or so, when I started measuring really small. The 20 week ultra sound was exact. It didn't even look like I was pregnant until a week before I was due. I had ultra sounds every few weeks and non stress tests two times a week. The babies head was really low, so they think that may be why I was measuring small. I also am very tall and have a long torso, so that contributes to it well. I gained the appropiate amount of weight and ate a healthy diet. My daughter was 6 lbs 0 oz 20 inches long so she was on the small side, but perfectly healthy. So don't let the doctors stress you out, measuring small does not always mean there is something wrong. Good luck!

[deleted account]

every check up i had with my first they told me your to small your not gaining enough weight you dont have to diet!!!! i tried explaining im eating and i eat what i crave im not on a diet. i was always small with my first even with my second i didnt get huge but a little bigger then i did with my first. if your not dieting then dont worry about it everones body is differint

Doctors love to terrify women. Don't worry! You are probably fine. Relax. DO NOT LET THEM TAKE YOUR BABY OUT VIA C-SECTION PREMATURELY. GO FULL TERM, HAVE YOUR BABY NATURALLY. THERE IS NOOOOOO REASON TO INTERVENE! C-sections prematurely can cause a host of health problems for your child. Doctors intervene unnecessarily on a regular basis, it's a growing problem! You trust your doctor, because that's what we've always done. It isn't always the right thing! I've known countless women, fear mongered into having a traumatic birth for no reason.

I have had 4 children. All 4 of my children were small compared to the dates. My smallest full term child was still 6lbs and 18 in long. They are all now taller than they should be for their age and in the right weight range. Now I had to have 1 emergency c-section, and that was with my second child. He was only 4lbs 5oz, but he was a month and a half early. Just try to watch what you are consuming, Drink plenty of water and cut back on the caffeine. If you yourself are on the petite side then your baby will be too, at least while you are carrying it. Hope that things are going well for you!
