I have had 4 children. All 4 of my children were small compared to the dates. My smallest full term child was still 6lbs and 18 in long. They are all now taller than they should be for their age and in the right weight range. Now I had to have 1 emergency c-section, and that was with my second child. He was only 4lbs 5oz, but he was a month and a half early. Just try to watch what you are consuming, Drink plenty of water and cut back on the caffeine. If you yourself are on the petite side then your baby will be too, at least while you are carrying it. Hope that things are going well for you!

I LOST ABOUT 30LBS BEFORE I STARTED GAINING WEIGHT DURING MY PREGNANCY. YOUR WEIGHT REALLY ISN'T THE CONCERN, AS LONG AS THE BABY IS AT A HEALTHY WEIGHT YOU ARE FINE. I ONLY GAINED 15LBS DURING MY PREGNANCY AND DIDN'T START LOOKING PREGNANT UNTIL ABOUT 28 WEEKS ALONG, BUT MY DAUGHTER'S WEIGH WAS RIGHT ON TARGET, SO THERE WAS NO REAL REASON FOR CONCERN.

Your belly doesn't look small in your picture! I'm 32 weeks and I've gained about 45 pounds so far and the doctor tells me my baby is big and my belly is probably about the size yours is. Every doctor has their own opinion and as long as your baby isn't dangerously small and is growing steadily everything is fine :)

Everyone carries differently, I remember My mother gaining over 70 pounds with my little brother, she was enormous, I myself am carrying quite large even only being 140 pounds at 4 months and gaining 14 pounds so far - O look about 6 months pregnant and baby measures considerably larger than most at the same gestation, My sister on the other hand only gained 3 pounds during her pregnancy and had a healthy boy at 7 pounds 14 oz without anyone being able to see she was pregnant until she was about 7 months along. Taking the height of our side of the family having everyone above 6 foot tall is a tell tale sign for our carrying sizes, You shouldn't have anything to worry about, but if you are still concerned then you should get a second opinion. I'm sure everything will be fine!!

I had that happen with both of my daughters...the first, they sent me for fetal heart monitoring 3 days a week from 30 weeks on!! It turned out, I make small babies! My first daughter was born at 40 weeks (on the dot!) at 6 pounds 18.5 inches long and healthy as a horse...still healthy too! My second daughter was born at 38 and a half weeks, 6 pounds 2 ounces 18 inches long...also healthy as a horse to this day! Don't worry, sometimes the baby is just small. From what my OB told me, technically, the average weight for babies is 5-7 pounds, but some doctors (like the one with my first daughter) prefer the 6-8 pound average scale...they usually treat any baby under 7-8 pounds like a sick baby, though they are not. But, better be safe than sorry, so they are just covering their behinds! But, I am sure you baby is fine!! Don't stress, cuz it's not good for the baby! :)

some babies sit further in than others it all depends on u and ur baby

wen my aunty was pregnant at 35 weeks her dr said that her stomach was too big and shee measured up as being over 45 weeks but she was only 35

if ur dr. was that worried bout it they would saend u off for tests to see wat is goin on

i hope u and ur lil bub are both doin fine and are healthy

I don't think you have anything to worry about. I was 178 when I found out I was pregnant Jan 16. The next six months my weight went down to 152 and by the time I delivered 177. My girl was born right on the due date Sept 17 and since I'm breastfeeding, I started eating right and moderate excersise making me lose 2 pounds a week since Jan 2010. I had a hernia that had to be removed before I could lose anything.

I just want to offer some advice...not to scare you but when I was pregnant with my first baby(a boy) I smoked and I made it to 5 1/2 months..I went to the doctor and they said he was measuring the size of me being 3 months...and I ended up loosing him and on top of that his fluid had gotten low....so jusst being honest if the doctor is telling you that everything is ok and your fluid is not gettin low then don't worry to much....hey now I have a 2month old daughter...born 12/16/09 and I had lost my son 11/14/08...just pray honey.....

I was told i was small for my dates when i was preggo. I had 3 ultrasounds because i was always under measuring even the due date the ultrasound tec gave me didnt match with my last period. I was even book for a 4th ultrasound 3 days before my due date! but i never made it to that one lol the baby was born the day before my appointment. my daughter was 6lbs 6 oz but my placenta was half the size of a regular which is dangerous and THE ULTRASOUND TEC'S NEVER CAUGHT IT! so my baby could have starved! but this doesnt mean thats why your under measuring cuz some girls just carry differently i know a girl that was tall and skinny and she was sooooo small and she had a almost 7lbs baby and she was due a week after me. good luck im sure everything is fine!

I have had 2 kids,(22 months and 10 weeks) both were born small (5pd 9 and 6 pd). I measured small for dates the whole pregnany both times so they weren't worried but if u were measuring to dates before and suddenly go backwards it can be a concern. My babies were both born healthy.

I was small with my pregnancy. In all my ultrasounds they estimated him to weigh only 5 lbs. they were going to deliver early because they thought my placenta wasnt giving enough nutriences to Aiden. But as it turned out he was just sitting low in my pelvis and weighed 6lbs 9 oz.

my 36 week sonogram showed that my babys belly was behind on growth (his head matched 36 weeks though) and that he only weighed 5lbs 4oz. the doctor said it had to do with the fact my placenta was grade 3 calcified, all they do for that is keep giving you sonograms to make sure the baby is still getting nutrients and that the placenta isnt too calcified. i go for another sonogram this tuesday (38weeks).

People didn't start asking if I was pregnant until the 7th month..then would be shocked when I told them how far along I was. My doctor even did send me for a few extra ultrasounds just incase but my son was developing fine. All in all I put on 50 libs (mostly water) He was 8 days late born 7 lbs 9 oz and 20.5 inches long-healthy as could be! Just depends on your build I guess!

With my first - I was hardly showing at all and barely gained twenty pounds. She came three weeks before my due date and she was perfectly fine at 5 lbs 9 oz. She was small according to measurements, but there was nothing wrong. However, if you start to get some intense sinus pressure or pain that only seems to go away temporarily or extreme menstrual cramping, see your doc. That's a sign of something more dangerous. I learned that with my second preganacy. He was small for his gestational age too.

I had an aging placenta which is when the placenta ages faster than the baby does, it is pretty much fine until the placenta ages far enough that it stops giving the baby nutrition. I got many ultrasounds, r in the last week of my pregnancy!! They all said that if my daughter was born in that week, she would have been between 3 and 3 1/2 pounds, maybe 4 pounds. My water bag started to leak 3 days later and I gave birth to my daughter s days later. She was a healthy 5 pounds 6 oz. She was small but she came out at 35 weeks gestation, she was perfect for her age.

When i was 32 weeks pregnant i went in for my checkup. The nurse came in and measured my belly and said "31 weeks" (which i found very annoying) For the last 7 weeks of pregnancy everytime i went in to see my doctor that nurse would say 31 weeks. I found it sooo irritating, like HELLO!! i cant still be 31 weeks!! The fact of the matter is, technology has come a looong way, but a womens body doesnt lie. When your belly drops and those lovely contraction begin, its not going to matter whether you measure 34 weeks or 43..that baby is coming. My docotor told me my son was going to be very small, about 5 lbs, and had NICU on hand when i delivered. Lo and behold, i delivered a 7lbs3oz baby boy...psh....and i only measured 31 weeks!

I was very small too. I am a very healthy 26 years and my doctor induced labor at 38 weeks, but I also had high blood pressure and a high stress job. My little girl was born 4 pounds 15 ounces and 6 months later is 12 pounds. She is very healthy, just petite! Just be prepared to be induced early, stay calm and relaxed. Everything will be fine!

I was measuring small in my last 10wks of my 1st pregnancy. I was given the option to be induced at 37wks to fatten her up on the outside or keep her in and see how she goes. I desided to wait and be monitered with regular check ups and ultrasounds. Turns out she just happened to be long and skiny. she was 7lb 1oz and 51.5cm long.

If you want to double check get another ultrasound and then you can find out more.

Goodluck

In my 22nd week I was told my son was too small. I gave birth at 36 weeks and he was only 3 lbs 9 oz. This is called intra-uterine growth retardation. There was no reason for it, they still don't know why he didn't grow. If your child had this you would probably have to keep him in the NICU for awhile and sometimes other problems are connected to it. But I don't mean to scare you. As you can see from the other posts, most of the time when doctors say this they are mistaken. Just keep an eye on it and remember to try not to stess yourself.

my docs were worried about me and my baby when i was about 30 weeks pregnant they did an ultrasound to make sure she was growing ok. im only 5'2 and was 93 lbs before pregnancy and only gained 17lbs during my pregnancy. i ate a lot and a lot of what was good for me and my daughter but she took every bit of fat i was gaining. they were really worried about her and told me to eat more which i did. but i felt horrible that i was doing what the drs told me she was so small. she was about 2 1/2 weeks early and weighed 5lbs 12 oz. My OB was really worried about me after she was born since she took all my body fat i actually weighed less after she was born. but a few hours after she was born i was eating hamburgers all day. we're both happy and healthy now!

My doctor was worried about me too when I was pregnant. I wasnt very big (until he dropped) and ended up giving birth to a 8lb 7oz baby (I am only 5'1 and normally weigh 105 and was 160 at labour). sometimes they are just tucked in there nicely and if you are are eating healthy and exercising you dont put on too much excess weight.

I was told the same thing the whole time during my pregnancy, i left work early thinking the stress and how physical it was may of been contributing but it still didnt help. I ended up have to have CTG monitoring every 2-3 days and an ultrasound every 2nd week to see what was going on. I was told that if i made it full term my baby wouldnt be 6lb. The dr also wanted to induce me early because of it. The day after they told me about the induction i went into labour naturally, I was 2 weeks early and my daughter was 6lb 6oz. I know when I researched it there was a lot fo concern for still birth so I was petrified, but thankfully all turned out well. My daughter was born on the 10% and is now in the 65% at 8.5 months. The dr has said she did a great job to catch up the way she has. best of luck with everything and congratulations :)

I only gained 15lbs my whole pregnancy towards the end I had 2 ultrasounds to see if my baby had enough room. Thing was I was all stomach and craved healthy food. Thing was I was loosing weight the baby was gaining. Right after having the baby I ended up 5lbs less than what I was when I first found out I was pregnant. My son was in a rush comming out so he was a month early and was only slightly underweight.

I was told that there was absolutely no way my daughter could have weighed more than 6 lbs when I was pregnant. They were wrong. I was very small, didnt show until 5 months and even then it wasnt much. Around 32-34 weeks, I really started to pop out and I dropped. But I still only looked like 7 months pregnant the day I delivered. I was only 4 days early. So dont really worry too much about your outward appereance. The ultrasound will be the most accurate. I had been told at 38 weeks my daughter couldnt be more than 6 lbs, maybe 6 1/2... she was about 7 and a half and was 7 lb 15 oz at birth. Hope this helps
