For all of you that responded to this that have got pregnant after a tubal, did you have your tubes tied after a c-section? I had my tubal in June of 2008 after the c-section birth of my 3rd daughter. I was 22 then. I'm worried this could be me(pregnant after a tubal) because I'm so young.

I find this post very touching and encouraging. I deeply regret having my tubes cauterized(burned). I was unsure about it at the time but decided to go through with it because of my husband at that time. Now I am divorced and GOD has sent me a wonderful man to whom I will be marrying in the next couple of weeks. Although we both have children from our previous marriages we so desparately want to conceive a child. Reversal is so expensive and I really do not want to have any more surgeries. All we can do is pray and leave it up to GOD if it is in HIS will for us. But I really do appreciate the posts because it does give me a little more hope and faith that it could happen.

I had my tubes tied after birth of my second daughter in November 2002. Never ever thought was possible to get pregnant again. Found out i was actually pregnant in Febuary 2008 only days after i had gotten remarried! Talk about shock!! lol But she is our little miracle baby and gift from God!

I have never heard of this happening before. but I just found this and its quite interesting!

Getting Pregnant After Having Tubes Tied

The U.S. Collaborative Review of Sterilization (CREST) found the failure rate for tubal ligation (all occlusion methods) to be 1.85% after 10 years.

Of the sterilization failures in CREST, one third were ectopic pregnancies (not within the uterus).

Because of the high rate of ectopic pregnancy, women of child bearing age who have had tubal sterilization should have a pregnancy test performed if they have not had a menstrual period. If the woman is pregnant, then she should be evaluated further for the presence of an ectopic pregnancy

It also depends on whether you have had your tubes tied or cut. When they tie your tubes they use small clamps to clamp off tube, more or less squeezing it tight so that nothing can get through, however it has happened.

You best get to a doctor and be checked. Ectopic pregnancy starts usually with side pain and is emergency surgery, the best way is to have your tubes cut and cauterized, this way they are completely severed and then cauterized (burned).

Apparently, you can get pregnant if a small section of the fallopian tubes have been removed and the "ends" sealed, then the cut part of the tube COULD have healed back together, forming a tube ... again ... if a section has been removed, then sealed, chances are very low to be able to get pregnant. BUT it has happend. My best advice, get a over the counter pregnancy test, if it's positive, then see a OB/GYN.

good luck,

Kelly

i had mine done in 2003.  I was preggos again within two and a half  years.  I will have my eighth child in february.  I always told my husband after i had my tubes tied if i got pregnant again it would be up to god.  There is nothing the doctors can do for me but my husband had a vasectomy done on September 19th, 2008.  My doctor say it is a 1 in 250,000  chance we will get pregnant again.  (ya know they always ave to put that 1 in there) I wouldn't trade my kids for anything in this world no matter planned or not planned.

I haven't but there was a lady that went to a church I attended while growing up and she had 4 kids, the last 2 were after she had her tubes tied. She also had 2 ectopic pregnancies, and when I left (I joined my husbands church when we married) she was pregnant again (I am not sure of the order of the pregnancies, but I still thought it was odd.) But at least you know you are not the only one out there. Good luck.
