i actually read this in take5 mag where a mother asked a doc it's in this weeks addition... they say that is normal for a kid to want to be wrapped some go to the age of 12 months.. now that it's getting hotter they suggest only putin a singlet on them and wrap them in a cool wrap.. if you have access to this mag i suggest you read it could be helpful, if not i'm willing to send it to you...

Hi everyone, i have just read all of your suggestions as i too have the same problem with my 5 month old daughter. The only way she i can get her to sleep is to wrap her but unfortunatly i've had to start using a cot sheet as she's to big for for baby wraps. But now she's always getting her arms out and playing around with her dummy so i'm definatly going to try your ideas so i can hopefully stop wrapping her all together. thanks!

I used to wrap my little boy as well, but by the time he was 4 months old he kept wiggling out of the wrapping. I would go in and his little hand would be sticking out one way and his other in another direction. After that I started to just tuck a receiving blanket around his arms when he was falling alseep, which seemed to work well. Now, at 7 mos old, I don't use a blanket at all. He does still sleep in a little sleep sack though, it is called a "Halo". This way he can't kick off blankets in the middle of the night, and he stays warm as it gets very chilly at night at our place. I also have a crib side music toy that lights up. When he wakes at night, he has learned to turn on the music and falls back to sleep watching it.

Depending on the size of your little one, "Halo" has velcro wings to wrap the child in their smaller sizes.

thanks 4 all the advice... i have started putting him in a sleeping bag and that helps with the other problem i had of him using leg to push him self up his cot and out of his anti roll pillows then rolling over and playing. i put him down today and he cryed 4 about 5mins and then fell asleep (falls asleep by himself straight away when wraped and sleepes 4 about 1.5 hours) and sleeped 4 about 1/2 hour which was a good start. i was so proud of him and he looked so cute with his arms up above his head. i am jsut going to keep persiting and we will get there., thanks again evertone

I had the same problem with my daughter (she's 17 months old now)...she was swaddled every night until she was 6 months old. I found that if I would swaddle her with her arms free she still had the same wrapped up feel, but would sleep okay. I did that for a few weeks and slowly worked down her body until I didn't wrap her up at all. Kind of like weaning her off being swaddled! lol But it worked for her. Might help...might now :\

Hey kayla, i wrapped my son til about 6 months too and then had the same trouble getting him to sleep after that. I finally tried those all in one sleeping bags with for babies, a few different companies make them but it was actually the cheap target ones that worked best, and because he still felt like his feet were tucked in he settled much better. Of course the arms were still an issue for a while as it was summer when he was 6 months but he stopped fussing after one or two weeks when he learnt that moving his arms about all night just made him exhausted enough to get him to sleep! LOL. Good luck! :-)

I have the same problem, and whenever my daughter (also six months) isnt swaddled she pulls her soother out and wakes herself up, or she puts her arms up and scratches at the side of her bed and makes a racket also waking herself up.
my solution? I just decided to keep her wrapped up for now, and I have a thing called a "swaddle me" from kiddopotamus. It is velcro so she cant wriglle out. She is 18 pounds but i bought her the large and it still fits. Its made of bamboo so it is still nice and light.

GOOD LUCK!

This question hits home for me!!!! I had the same problem Except I wrapped her untill she was 8 months! I would wrap and wrap and wrap all night long. I even bought an over sized sack sleeper and sowed the arms closed. My daughter started rolling over and it made me VERY nervous to see her sleeping on her belly without her arms free to roll back over. So I quit wrapping her and let her sleep on her stomach. I KNOW they tell you not to, but a baby is going to do what it wants to do. I would suggest trying it out, just like anything else it may take some getting used to (for you and your baby) I recently started letting her take her favorite stuffed animal to calm her also. GOOD LUCK!!!!

kudos for getting that far wrapping him that long. I stopped wrapping my son at 2 months because he always got out and he hated being wrapped.
You can buy a snug-in-a-bug suit which is like a sleeping back with long sleeves its great for the cold nights. I just dress my son in a wondersuit for night now with no blanket as it is pretty hot

Hey,

well I stop wrapping my daughter at 3 months because she just wouldn't stay wrapped..... I would just keep trying going cold turky he is going to pull is dummy out no matter whatthey all do. He will get to know that he needs it.... and if you don't want to stop cold turky then try putting is blaket under is arms and his legs it will seem like he is wrapped but not really and each night let out one side.... I also layed my daughter on her tummy to sleep I know they say not to but she sleeps the best that way and she keeps her dummy in a lot better. I hope some of this helps. good luck
