I'm Pregnant with my first baby and can't see it in the ultra sound!

I have a step son but this is my first pregnancy! I went in for my first ultra sound thinking I was 6 weeks 2 days along. They couldn't see the baby, just the gestational sac. I went back 5 days later and the sac grew but still no baby. They said my quant levels were rising but not fast enough, they finally got high enough for them to stop worrying about that, but I need to see that baby in there. I know it's in there, it better be, I don't believe I have an empty sac(Blighted Ovum) I think and so do the doctors that I may not be as far along as they thought. Has anyone else had this happen(not see the fetal pole) and still have a healthy baby? Please help

Yeah, it was an internal ultrasound. They could see the sac but nothing in it. I'm hoping I'm just too early to see it, or I've heard of having a padded uterus, that could be it. Thanks for the info, it all helps!

The same thing happened with my last one. Did they do an internal ultrasound? It is uncomfortable and weird but if you're not as far along as they thought it should have been the first thing they thought of to do before scaring you like that. They'll insert an ultrasound rod into your vagina and even if your only a few weeks along they will be able to see baby. I had it done with my last since at my first ultrasound it was the same thing as I said earlier. =) Couldn't see her, barely saw the sac. Turns out we were off by 2 weeks. (thought I was 5 wks but was only 3 wks) That's quite the time frame when dealing with a gestating baby. She is now 22 months and completely healthy. Don't fret too much. It could just be the timing is off.

They couldn't find my son on the ultrasound the first time they tried.  I believe I was about two months into the pregnancy.  So they tried using a different instrument to find him (kind of scary looking, like a long rod!), and they still couldn't find him.  So they finally sent me to an actual hospital, and the ultrasound technician was able to find him, and I could hear his little heartbeat pumping away!  He was born in April 2004, and he turns five next month!  Hope that helps!  =)

On September 8th 2006 I had a DNC done after that I got my peroid. Did not get another peroid but in December had feeling I was pregnant. Took the test and it came up postive. Called my ob-gyn and they had me come in for blood tests every 4 days to test hcg levels. After 3 ultrasounds they finally saw the baby and they were happy with that. I was almost 3 months before they found her. She was born August 14 2007 100% healthy.
