my daughter just turned 6 months and she is a wild sleeper. she is all over her crib and there has been times that i have found her at the end of the crib turned sideways. well it scares me that she sleeps so wild. she gets tangled up in the little blanket that i let her sleep with.. so i took that blanket away from her cuz im scared im gonna wake up and the blanket is gonna be wrapped around her little neck.. i dress her warm at night and i make sure that its warm in her room.. has anyone else took the blanket away do to your baby sleeping wild ? and am i in the wrong for taken that blanket away from her??

My daughter likes to play in her crib before she falls asleep and I wake up with her in all sorts of weird positions all the time. I have a blanket in her crib but she kicks it off within 2 mins of being put to bed. So I just do the same and keep her room warm enough and dress her properly. I never worried about the blanket though. I've always left it in her crib and she's never tangled it around her neck or anything. But most experts say to not even put a blanket in the crib even with infants. That dressing them warm and keeping their room warm enough is the best way to go to reduce SIDS. So you're doing what any mother would do. Keep up the good work!

My 21mo old does the same thing, and I've basically done what you are doing....minus the worry. I put her down with a flat pillow and give her the blanket (she seems to fall asleep better with it, after that it doesn't matter much), then when she's asleep if she is in a wild mood I take the blanket out. There are nights when she just stays in the same way through most of the night. If it makes you feel better (and like you say, it's warm in the room and she's dressed warmly) then there's nothing wrong at all with taking the blanket away.

If you are concerned with the blanket; I know that there are sleeping bags (type thing) for babies. The one we had kinda looked like a wife-beater but the bottom was sewn to keep little toes warm. That way they can wiggle all they want and there is no worry about getting tangled.

We got ours as a gift but I'm positive they are available.

As for the blanket dilemma , if you are sure you are dressing her warm enough for the weather then I wouldn't be overly concerned about it.

she could sleep with a blanket by 6 months just make sure it's thinner one so she could kick it off or whatever. My son is a wild sleeper and wont keep a blanket on so I took it away. If you are dressing her warm and you don't feel comfortable with it I don't think you are wrong at all!
