My child starting vomiting Sunday evening. He couldn't keep food down or even his formula. I thought maybe an allergy to the food that I introduced or even the fact that he might not like it, but it continued the next day. Monday evening his father and I noticed that his arms and legs were starting to turn purple (not dark purple but light purple). I called the pediatrician right away and they said that he was dehdrated and that I need to ONLY give him Pedialyte, no formula or food. So I did that Monday night and this morning, I can now give him 2 oz of formula with out him vomiting it back up. He is not purple anymore, but he is so tired and lathargic (spelling?) and they said to give it a few more days.,.. Should I be worried?

that is how my daughter was and they told me to put a teaspoon of rice ceral to every oz of formula and that should help it and it did she stoped the vomiting and everything i seen a change in her that same day

Is he coughing, wheezing or does he have a fever? The whole larthegic thing might have to do with his oxygen level. They would check that if you took him in.

Is he having wet diapers? My daughter Myana got really sick last summer. She started vomiting and having severe diarreha and wasn't holding anything down at all not even pedialyte. After a few hours of that I took her to the ER and they put her on an IV and told me that she was borderline of being admitted and if i felt comfy w/ taking her home and seeing if she would come out of it i could so I did. She still wasn't holding anything down and wasn't having wet diapers. I took her back and they sent me away. Took her to the doctor the next day and she was admitted and we were in the hospital for a week because she was severly dehydrated. If he is starting to hold down some formula and having wet diapers I would give him a lil bit of time but if he isn't holding anything down or having wet diapers get him to the ER. I hope he feels better. I know what it is like to have a really sick baby and it is the worst.

Amie- The interesting thing is that another child that comes to my childcare center had that happen today and his mother brought him to the hospital but the purple was gone by the time they got there. The nurse said it was either dehydration or lack of oxygen from the cold that he has... I think that doctors around here are deciding not to see kids very often... it is really annoying.. My son has a dr apt on thursday if he stays ok I am going to wait until than, but if he gets purple again I am bringing him to the hospital and demanding results... thanks!

I'd take him to emergency just in case. Mine never did anything like that and I know I'd worry if it was me.
