My daughter is 8 months old and my husband and I would like to start trying for another baby. The problem is, my daughter is breastfed, so I'm not having any monthly cycles yet...making it impossible to get pregnant! I won't give up breastfeeding and I don't want to give her formula. What are your thoughts?

you cans still get pregnant while breastfeeding you just have to stay relaxed and obviously not use any protection or birth control

Just keep trying anyway. Breast feeding is not birth control and it could still happen. You could be pregnant right now and not even know it. If you really, really want another baby and feel like breast feeding is getting in the way of it just start weening her. Formula is not that bad.

I did breastfeed by daughter until she was 3 mo, but then I dried up. She has been on formula since then with no problems. I agree with Melissa in the fact that you could still be harvesting eggs. I know people who got pregnant with no period because they were breastfeeding. My husband and I are trying again, and my daughter is 9 mo. We actually have been trying for 4 mo now with no luck. But, you might have to wait until you stop breastfeeding or when she goes on whole milk to try again if you aren't dropping any eggs. I would just talk to you doctor to see what they say. Good luck.

yes u can get pregent! i was brest feeding and my little guy is 8 mths as well and im pregent now ... i didnt have my cycle, so if u want to u will just do a test to see when its best to try and then u will know good luck !

Talk to your doctor. You could still be harvesting eggs though and could possibly stilll get pregnant. I was the same way with breastfeeding and never gave my son formula. Only when he started whole milk did I start to ween him. You might have to wait until your daughter is a year or on whole milk then to get pregnant if you are not harvesting any eggs. Talk to your doctor though. Best of luck!!
