My son eats just about anything but i make sure he eats more vegetables and fruits. My son eat meat atleast 3 times a day. I try to cook breakfast every morning because he seems to not get full off of nothing. My son eats anything except for sweets. Ugggggh frustrating, but ill get through it.

Definitely. Of course, my kids are also very thin and active. Sometimes, I'll guide their second helpings to more veggies or another helping of protein, but if the are wanting more after clearing their plate, I figure they are gearing up for a growth spurt.

if that the case i would give him something like chicken or someting like that healthy but well give him more of a full feeling. i make sure my boys get meat twice a day. or there maybe something that he need to help him feel full you and my just have to try different things out there. for my youngest it is milk but he is also growing like crazy right know. i know they say don't give them alot of some kids bodies need more of other stuff then other kids. best of luck finding the right mix of food to help him feel full.

My kids get an unlimited supply of fruits and veg...if they are truly hungry they will eat that. Generally though, once I remind them that that's their option...they are magically not as hungry :)

I asked my MD and he said give it to him if hes hungry. But i just think its too much now that he's eating as is. I give him breakfast with fruit lunch with a veggie or fruit and dinner with veggies, he also have a snack in between which contains something that have calcium, iron, zinc, that help support his growth and development.

It all depends. First thing, it depends on the day. The level of activity that day and what he's eaten before that meal, for example. Sometimes my son is so tired out by nap time he will skip lunch and go right to sleep. In which case, I will offer him more at supper time. It also depends on the food... if he's just polished off a huge plate and he wants more, he's welcome to have more vegetables or a fruit but I'm not going to give him another heap of noodles or rice (which are usually his main dishes).

It all depends on your child, and your child alone. No child is the same. Some people eat more and weigh less than those who eat little. It all boils down to metabolism and activity level. If it begins to be an issue, I would address it with your pediatrician to rule out any possible thyroid problems, anxiety issues, etc ...
Trying to play God with you child's food intake can cause serious issues with food. It is much easier on both of you to figure out a better schedule/routine that benefits the child the best. Maybe the answer is more meals/smaller servings. The child could also still be hungry because their body is looking for additional nutrients, somewhere something maybe lacking. Again, something that should be discussed with your pediatrician or even a nutritionist.
Good luck!

i would not. They need tolearn control and if they have eaten enough food that would make adult full, then for sure I would not give more. It will only stretch out there stomachs and then they will end up eating more and more. If he eats that much now, can you imagine how much he will be eating when he is older? there has to be a limit. I find if my daughter fusses a bit after eating, I give her more to drink and she is fine. Good Luck!

I think it depends. A child left hungry can develop eating problems as they get older. On the other hand a child that does not recognize when they are satisfied and not overly full can have problems later in life also. Kids go through growth spurts where they will eat and eat and eat and then the next time not want hardly anything to eat. This is very true for teenage boys. They can eat you out of house and home because their bodies are growing so fast at that time that they need the energy to grow. To me it is more important what they are eating then how much. If they are eating lots of junk food and high calorie food then this is not good and then no if they are wanting more you don't give in. If they are eating lots of fruits and veggies then I say yes give them as much as they want. There are some veggies that use up more calories to eat them then what they have. To me an adult sized plate should be smaller then a child's plate at times. As an adult we are not growing, so why do we need the extra calories. I think exercise and activity is also important. If your child is not getting much exercise then he/she does not need as much calories. But if they are a very active child then they are burning more calories and may need to replenish. One thing to make sure is that there are no medical issues. Sometimes there are medical reasons why a child does not feel full and that is a different issue.

My son is the same way and hes almost 11 mos old.. If your little one is active they are gunna be hungry more and eat more b/c they are burning their calories playing. In my opinion if they are hungry feed em. In the end its only you that knows your child and knows whats best for them.

i would recomend distracting your child my 6mnth old eats 3 small meals a day which i consider a lot he still seems hungry for a while but soon forgets once iv changed his bum and start getting toys out never give a baby more than the recomended amount in my opinion an adult size meal is far too much

No I would not! That's too much food and the reason your child does this is because they know that you will give in. Dont give in! Give your child something to drink and if they dont drink it. I guess just let your child cry.

I struggle with not wanting my child to be hungry but as a parent you also have to know when to say no. Personally I think if your child's daily nutritional needs have been met then I say don't give in. This can become a daily routine of overeating. If you are unsure check with your MD.
