Do not use castor oil. It can cause the fetus to have a bowel movement inside you and they can inhale it. Not good at all.

[deleted account]

Whatever you DONT TAKE CASTOR OIL.
It can make you really sick, vomiting, diarrhea and all that jazz, you really don't want to be in that shape in labor.
Sex, running up and down the stairs, eating pineapple, rose hip tea. Cleaning helps. Sometimes nothing works. I was 2 weeks overdue.

I didn't mean to do it but my mom was coming into town to help when my daughter was born, so I cleaned the house from top to bottom and went into labor that night. I wasn't due for 3 more days and I don't know if that was what did it for sure but that's what I assumed started everything! Good luck!

When I was pregnant and my dr wanted to induce me I was so scared and didn't want to be induced. My husband and I have horses so I went and rode horses. Just a slow was for about 45 minutes (all I could handle at the time due to my tummy touching the saddle horn). The next morning at about 8 I started laboring. I know not very one has that option. My older sister said sex worked for her and my aunt said that walking started hers.

Sex. I was told if we had to speed up the labor process if the baby wasnt wanting to go into labor, to have sex. Best advice ever! Lol

eggplant i have heard that helps the process.. that bumpy rides around town, also sex really does help, umm also walking at a good speedy pase helps as well.. I went on mayny walks and was actually right on time with my little guy. oh and the cleaning thing someone said.. I heard that usually when you get this over whelming feeling to clean or a huge burst of energy it puts your body into labor mode.

My OB went into labor getting a full body massage...
I do have to laugh though as you say this is your second baby and you're needing ideas to go into labor-my first was induced because she was a slow-poke. I'll be asking right next to you when I get prego again.

3 times being induced and a 4th in 6 weeks for me, it all went well, well very minor problems that took a shot of meds to fix, a little extra bleeding not a hemorrage just a little extra bleeding and the epidural dr hit a nerve but anyway, thats the only thing that got anything moving for me, i didn't try the tea, sex or oil, i wasn't brave enough but i did try walking. all that did was cause some major pain. the pain from the pictocin was pretty bad too though. i think i may try a massage this time the day or two before i go in to have this baby.

your lucky rachel. i had my membranes stripped at 40 weeks in the office and was told if i didn't go into labour that i'd be induced a week later. I walked for hours everyday, no sex though cuz i felt huge and like i could barely move lol!!!!

Neither of my kids wanted to come out! Both were a week late when I was "induced" meaning my membranes were stripped. My doctor ordered us to have sex before he he'd try induction (he's a fantastic doc and a riot!) In both cases we found a really long walk is what "worked'

Walking as much as you can. Someone told me intercourse induces labor but there was no way I was in any condition for that at 39 1/2 wks but everyone is different.

your baby will most likely come when they are ready! To help your body be ready drink raspberry leaf tea 3-4 cups per day, go for nice walks, and have nice relaxing baths with some clary sage oil in it, you can get the raspberry leaf tea and clary sage oil from health food stores. If you havent had bub since posting this, goodluck, it wont be long now!

I have 2 different induce before, #1 I had pill induce to put below. It can put up to 3 pills. some ppl dont dilate after 1 pill it depends. its type induce lesser pain longer time of contraction.

#2 i had induce with drip. more painful but short time of pain. fewer push and my baby came out.

to go along with Kristin, nipple stimulation needs to happen for like 15 mins each side like every hour for anything to happen....just get hubby to play with them for like 3 hours...should bring on something!!! Good luck

My sister is a nurse and had suggested everything that has already been said (i.e. sex and walking) but also nipple massage. It kind of tricks your body a little. Its just like after you give birth...when the baby feeds it makes your uterus contract. If it hasnt happened for you yet, good luck :)

Sex lol thats what my mid wif told me the day before my son was due me and my husband had sex and the next evening he was born on his due date, but only do it if your doc/midwife says its ok and your not high risk

Reverse psychology. j/k, no but really with my first 3 I wanted to hold off a little longer for one reason or another, and they were all right on time or early, but with my last one I was so ready, and she was a day and a half late. Try and focus on something else, because from what I hear a lot of the other ideas work for some women not for others. One thing I would say unless your baby is having troubles, don't get induced, the friends I have that have had that done ended up with complications, and ended up with a C-section. Try and be patient and wait it out. I know it is hard. Good-luck

wow really? Im not into the yoga thing but i feel like my body is almost back to how i was before baby....minus the extra padding!!!! I do notice at times though i'm a bit tender..thats it though! I only took the advil/tylenol when needed to move outtta the bed (i was also breastfeeding at that time),

Glad you and Gabby are alright, once they stopped the inducing meds we were fine, and throughout surgery we were fine as well. you can't even see my scar, i had an amazing doctor

Cannan just hit 6 months

[deleted account]

I was up walking the morning after as well, i was just super sore and bruised to the extreme. The two of us almost died so it was a very fast procedure, they literally sliced and ripped the baby out. My scar is all jaggeod too. I didn't take the pain meds because i was breastfeeding. It changed my body drastically though, I can't do as many expert yoga positions anymore and it still hurts when i stretch certian ways. Gabby will be 2 in December.

I agree with Katherine it depends on the mom because my induction went fast and smooth. I was only in labor 45 minutes with my first daughter. Hopefully my second child will go the same way.

@Julianne - we agree on something!!! :) I was induced and had to have an emergency c-section as my babe's heart rate kept dropping below 100!!! Not good!!! Had several moments of panic in the room (the emergnecy cord was pulled twice, my mom left crying, twice and all doctors and nurses on the floor where in my birthing suite...scary) but in the end once they took me off the pictocin (or whatever they used to induce me) we were both fine....during the c-section though we found out his cord was wraped around his neck. So glad I had the section.

Our next will be a scheduled c-section, I recovered so well, was up and walking later that am (had the baby at 12:48am), within 24hours had all iv's and catheters out, and no pain meds (except for the occasional tylenol or advil to help with the pain when getting in and out of bed). The day i was released my doc who did the c-section came in and handed me a prescription for morphine.....i tore it up infront of him and he was confused until i told him i wasn't taking any pain meds by then. I was also released a day early....

It does all depend on each mom though, certain things may work to bring on labour in one person but for the other 5 it may not....

Just like i bounced back after my c-section whereas you didn't....everyones different, i have a super high pain tollerance, my best friend doesn't but delivered naturally (well she made it to 7cm and had to get an epidural as her cervix was swelling and it wouldn't allow the babe to go through so the epidural allowed her to relax, but 3 pushes and her FIRST babe was out)...crazy

I tried evening primrose oil, self acupuncture, sex, and anything else I could find suggested on the Internet except castor oil. I was two weeks overdue and finally had to do an induction. The "tricks" definitely don't work for everyone and some of them are probably coincidence. Being only 3 days overdue, I would just relax. Your date can be off by as much as a week anyway so maybe you aren't officially even due yet.

[deleted account]

I wouldn't suggest an induction. It literally doubles your chances of a Cesarean. I wouldn't wish an emergency cesarean on anyone. I was bruised from my bra line halfway down my legs and felt like i got hit by a transfer truck.

sex, spicy food, lots of walking, cleaning the house they can all induce labour naturally. I wouldn't recommend the castor oil, unless you like being sick (vomitting and diarrhea!!!!)

I was induced at 6 days over due, NEVER AGAIN!!!! It was horrible.

Walk about two miles a day and ask your doctor if they'll induce your labor.

I heard walking and sex work. I've heard horrible stories about castor oil so I would not suggest that personally. Good luck!

Castor oil worked for me. I took some before bed, and woke up at 1 am with back labor. Baby girl was born that morning!

yeah it was wonderful...i saw the dr and he said i was nowhere near labor or the head wasnt even dropped so i was like hmm so i made a appoitment for a prenatal massage and it kinda hurt a little bit but i stuck it out... saw the dr the next day and he didnt even check me at all but i complained of back pain and he said oh its likely from your massage and i was like i dont know its pretty bad! so anyway i sat at home all night with this back pain and cramps so by 6am the next morning i decided to go to the hospital for precaution and the nurse was like yup your 5-6 cm...so i do beleive that massage worked because other than that i had zero labor signs!! after baby was out my back pain vanished.too.
