Introducing Real Food

Hi,

My daughter is 7 1/2 months. I have been giving her baby food (Beech Nut) since she was 4 months. She eats and chews really well (although she has no teeth yet). My doctor told me I can start her on cheeses in a couple of weeks, but I was wondering when other people first introduced real food to their baby and what type of food it was. I have no idea when she can eat things like meat, pasta, etc. I know a large part of it are her eating capabilities (so she wont choke, etc.), but other than that I am pretty clueless. Any advice would be most helpful!

i made my son's puree foods from real food. i didn't give him solid chunks of food until he had teeth though. cheese was ok b/c he could suck on it, he LOVES "bug cheese" as my grandma calls it (caraway cheddar).

My son was born at 10 lbs and at about 6 months he was 20 lbs, so we started on baby food. I started out with the fruit and veggie ones and we just slowly introduced new things. He also had about 4 teeth at the time but had a hard time chewing. By 7 months he was eating a lot of regular food, whatever we were having for dinner, soups, pasta, mashed potatoes. Also, we got thru all the allergy foods slowly - here is a link - http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com/allergy... Good luck! Now he is 15 months and feed himself most of the time.

Read the book "Super Baby Food" by Ruth Yaron. It is an awesome book that covers every aspect of feeding your baby until they are 3. It gives recommendations, recipes, how to make your own and save some money, recommends brands, etc. It is great!!
