Is Castor oil good for my 4 month old daughter constipation ?

I had change my daughters formula from preumium to prosobee and ever since I put her on it she's been constipated . Everyone is telling me to use castor oil for babies to help her with that. Like the bowel movements are so hard that they tear around her butt and it bleeds its just so horrible. Is there anything I can do to stop this? She has a doctor appointment in 2 weeks for a follow up but the only thing the dr told me was to give her a half of oz of water after every bottle. But that doesn't seem like its working.

Maybe she needs to be put back on her original formula. Why was she switched?

dark corn syrup in the bottle will work. my son had the same problem when he was that age. like teaspoon of it.

I would try the Good Start formula....you can get it in soy. The Good Start brand is easier on their tummies. I would not do the castor oil....even for an adult this is harsh. Prune juice or even putting 1 teaspoon of dark Karo Syrup in a bottle a day.

i wouldnt use castor oil. try prune juice or brown sugar in water. good luck

pure orange juice mixed with water worked for my son, the doctor even gave me lacotisives for my son but i wouldnt use them

definately not it can cause dehydration. About a teaspoon of brown sugar and roughly 30ml of warm water works well. It worked for both of my kids very well. Also when changing and you gently wiped the area with a wet wipe also dry and try using cornstarch or powder to try to keep the area dry as moisture can also cause tearing. Been there know how heartbreaking it is too see your little one like it. You also have to be careful not to use anything that is going to irritate you babies bottem either. Juice and that does work but if you child has any tear anything acidic will irritate it.

I would give her 1/2 oz water mixed with 1/2 oz prune juice. I wouldn't recommend castor oil.
