Thanks so much everyone. My brother in-laws-girlfriend who was my friend was going to do it. However, she messed up the invites, blamed me, and then got angry and defensive with me when I asked her the theme and the games. She really upset me and wrote me a nasty letter that I was just weird for wanting to do my own party. It's not like I wanted her to pay for it. She insisted and then when I wanted things done..... she flipped the freak out.

I threw my own baby shower because I love planning parties and wanted everthing done my way. I did an outdoor vegetarian luau theme, it was fun, and if I had left it up to others we would have ended up sitting in a hall wrapping my stomach in toilet paper.

I will throw mine for my next baby (TTC) as I don't want to impose or make anyone uncomfortable around others...this way I can truly invite who I want!!!

I helped plan my baby shower. We did it at my friend's place. But we all did the decorating and planning and everything. It was fun.

No, I planned my baby showers, I didn't host them, but I told the hostesses what I wanted to do and what kind of food I wanted, I basically threw my own baby showers!

i throw my own cuz I knew i was dependable and I would do what I liked. just be carefull and don't get too stressed. I did and ended putting myself in labor that day. and was in labor for a week before I said "I want this baby OUT!!!!!"

i decided to throw my own because i would have had 4 of them and i didn't want that. so i ended up renting a hall and had almost 100 people at my one shower. i even made my husband be there cuz i didn't know anyone from his family.

no i dont think it is wierd. but then again everyone i knew planned their own and then had the parents/in-laws throw the actual party.
i personally didnt even want a baby shower for my son (now everyone thought THAT was wierd...). i was so stressed out at the time and insecure about myself because all the comments i got were "WOW youre HUGE!!" or "WOW how many babies are in there?!", i was a bit put off on seeing or entertaining anyone... my best friend ended up throwing the party for me which was nice because she got me to relax and just enjoy my close friends and family there.

I don't think it's "weird". It is nice to have someone do something for you though, because as soon as the baby comes it's not even a little bit about you anymore. But they always say if you want something done right do it yourself! lol. If you have the energy and really want to do it yourself I say good for you!!!
