Hey everyone. I have a 4 month old daughter and she weighs 16 pounds and 5 ounces! I will try to post a pic so you can see what I'm talking about. Everyone says she looks really heavy and big for her age. Do you think she is too fat? All she does is eat!

Your daughter is beautiful and not too fat. My 3 1/2 month old son is 17 pounds 10 ounces and I get told all the time that he is big for his age but all I care about he that he is a happy healthy boy. I don't know if you are breastfeeding but i have been told that most breastfed babies are usually bigger in the first few month of life and that they slim down once they start crawling and moving.

Babies can't be too fat. All babies are different, some are bigger & some are smaller. Don't fret it & just ignore the people who are telling you she's big

My baby is 4 months old as well and he weighs 18lbs. His latest photo is the one I am using on my FB profile. I do not think he is fat, though. His pedia even increased his feeding size because he has not gained weight for two weeks because of sickness. He was 17 lbs during that checkup. now he is at 18

Babies can't be too fat. They grow at their own pace, and their growth rate will change as they grow. Just because the looks chubby now, doesn't mean she still will once she starts crawling. If she wants to eat all the time, that's because it is what she needs - so let her. I'd be more concerned if she has a big change in her weight percentile, but not height - but even then, it wouldn't be a major concern, just something to watch. Oh, and if it helps, my son weighted 20 lbs 1 oz at 4 months, so to me your baby sounds like she's small. :)

MY opinion jes is that to me no babies r fat . they r new to the world and they do not know how to not eat if she hungry feed her. most babies r plesently plumped thats what i call it . and they r cute. MOST of the time when they began to walk they start to lost it anyway. so enjoy loveing her and squeezzzzzing her HEY U GONNA MISS IT ONE DAY .. ....

My daughter now 5 months was 16.5 lbs at her 4 month check up, born at 7.5 lbs. My son was 20 lbs at his 4 month and weighed 7 lbs 1/2 oz at birth. Both of my kids are big babies, but that's it just big. My son was off the charts. But the doctors insisted he was doing fine and so is she. I was so worried.

Now when the doctor tells you he is concerned I suggest you listen to them..Lol..

When my neice was 6 months she weighed 28 lbs. (she only weighed 6lbs 10 oz at birth) . the doctors told my sister to put her on a diet! Before each 6oz bottle of formula she was to drink a full 6 oz of just water! Don't worry until the doctor says something. If you are concerned ask the doctor.

Babies seem "fat" until the start moving. Wait until she starts crawling and she will burn off that baby fat. 16lbs is "above average" for a 4 month old though. If she's breast fed you can try to limit the amount of fats you eat so they don't pass to her. All my daughter did at that age was eat and now she's in the 30th percentile and a very very active 22 month old.

not fat at all! my 2 month old weighs 15 pounds 11 ounces and his doctor is not worried about his weight. as far as the eating his doctor told us to put just a little baby cereal in his formula and my son will go about 5 hours between feedings.

My sister-in-law's baby was ten pounds at birth...he is four and a half months and weighs seventeen pounds. His doctor says he is healthy. Unless your sweet girl's doctor says she is a little overweight, I would just enjoy your little cuddly baby!

Of course your daughter is not too fat. There's no way to control the weight of a baby. I mean what else can she do besides sleep, eat, and poop? I am sure that it will all even out once she starts getting older.

Quoting Jessica:

Never to fat or to skinny,

Hey Jessica, I have two girls and some people used to comment on them and say they are two skinny but they where small babies at birth.

So what ever there size i think it doesn't matter, as long as they are healthy

I think the bigger they are the cuddly they are  =)

I don't think a baby can be too fat. If you are concerned about check with a health nurse or Dr. Probably just healthy and it will even out as she get's older. My son was putting on heaps of weight at the start but it slows down. When they go through a growth spurt it feel's like you are feeding all the time.
