Is sex painful since child birth?

I have the same problem.. I never had pain before i ha y daughter. I loved sex and was painless for me, but now its been almost 5 years and its painful for me to have sex or soing exersises for my lower abs. Now i hate having sex an it makes me really depressed that i cant enjoy it like i used to and other positions hurt more. My doctor says its a torn muscle and i should work it out but its painful to do. I want to have a second baby now but im really scared that its going to affect my pulled muscle. Im so sad :(

i had the same problem. it hurt me for over a year. my daughter is now 8, no more problems. it eventually gets better the more you use it.

I know how you feel. Before i got pregnant sex wasnt painful for me either. but after i had my daughter it has become painful. my daughter is now 4 yrs old. and i havent been to a dr about this yet bcuz im kind of scared. i had my daughter vaginal..i wish i had a answer..

well i didnt have sex for a year and a half. me and my sons father broke up. and it didnt hurt, and i had a c section as well. id have that checked out.

I had a c section almost 2 years ago and it is painful for me also my problem is my bladder has dropped so when we have sex he is basically hitting my bladder with every thrust you should have ur obgyn check that out for you

I still have that. My doc said just to try extra lube or stimulation before actually intercourse.

yes. it's happening to me as well. i was also c-section. iv read everywhere that its because of constantly changing hormons and after a while it will stop hurting.

go to your doctor for advice i had apin for na while and it turns out it was cause i have an inflamed bowel once that was under control i was good as cold

Well I broke up with my daughters father when I was pregnant, and like Svetlana developed a 'down there' phobia - 5 years after my daughter was born I had sex again for the first time since child birth and god damn it bloody hurt (and still does every time). I don't enjoy it, I dread it, and wish I could be single again so I wouldn't have to bother with it just to please him!!! And I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but I bleed every single time after I have sex (and it lasts for a good 2 days after). I know when my daughter was about 3 years old I had a polyp removed from my cervix and apparently they can cause pain and bleeding when you have sex, but as I was on my own and the polyp was only picked up through a pap smear I didn't feel any of the symptoms. Wondering if possibly I have another polyp - none showed up in my last pap smear test though (only about 6 months ago)!

Yes it is normal... I couldn't have sex with out pain until about 6 1/2 to 7 months postpartum. The body needs to heal and your body knows that; so it does what it can to keep you from having another.

Haven't had it since i was 5 months (when they said i at high risk of having an early bubba ... which did happen), anyway by then i was already a single mum in the making and have been since, it likely i wont be getting laid for another 3 years atleast anyway since im in no rush to find a new partner but mostly because ive totally developed a 'down there' phobia since mr popped out.. So thats me, just reiterating the normalityin all this ... i think?! xx

I am in the same boat as you!!!!! Ive told my fiance over and over whats going on and after so long he looks at me like im just making up reasons not to have sex but when im in pain im not able to enjoy it =( I also felt like i was the only one with this problem until i posted this on here, like you i was thankful i wasn't the only one! that makes it just a little bit easier to cope with but still wish i knew what was causing it. my ob examined me after childbirth and said i was ok but at that time i hadn't had any sex so i didn't being up the pain issue but now im beginning to wish i had, its been nearly 13 months and still having pain.

OMG...Im so glad I'm not the only chick that deals with this! Seriously...thank GOD, because now I dont feel like such a leopard. I don't know how to deal with it. Im running out of excuses to tell my hubby. I told him the truth, but, it's like 15 months later, so it just sounds ridiculous now. I'm having the same problem but I couldnt have sex during pregnancy because I had placenta previa so for the last five months of pregnancy we didnt have sex and then we waited four months before having sex after our son was born. I'm thinking that my body just has to get familiar with that again

The reason i had to have a c section was my son waited to turn face down so when he did he was too big and actually got stuck between my pelvic bones. But while i was preg we were still having sex, up until my last month ot so bc i was so big that it was really uncomfortable for me. once we have been having sex for awhile things "loosin" up but once we start out i am in awful pain as if im being ripped (which i know im not but thats how it feels)

did you abstain from regular sex during pregnancy? if so for how long? have you guys gotten back on a regular schedule yet? b/c it may just be what you are describing is just shrunken tissues from lack of use (for lack of a better description) is it a vaginal pain or a cervical pain? and what were the reasons for the c-section? b/c that may play a part as well.
