I recently heard swine flu is meant to hit hard in Australia again, just wondering if their are any mums who have been vaccinated against it and also their children, do you think the vaccine is safe?

I don't think so, they have no idea of the long term side effects. I wouldn't give it to my babies!

Post a reply! practice good hygene, and wash your hands .. if you child is not a nail biter, and can keep his/her hands out of their mouth, nose , eyes. And especially if your child is old enough to understand any of this ... don't get the vaccines, you two will probably beat the odds of getting it if you just take precautions, and keep it in the front of your mind whenever your out , and when you get back in!

My 14 mo old son & I both had it a few months ago. Neither of us had any side effects. I was on the fence about it at first. But, I thougt to myself, that I would rather something happen to him because I was protecting him, rather than something happen because I didnt try to protect him. Use your heart, you'll do the right thing!

I didn't want to get it, but since I'm pregnant everyone was saying I should. When I went in to get it they all kept saying that there are no side effects and I wouldn't even notice. That was not the case. It made me really sick for about a week, including vomiting and other flu symptoms. However, I have been fine since then, and I'm glad that I'm protected.

My son, that will be two in March, got both vaccines in December, a week later he ended up in the hospital with a pneumonia. He just received the boosters for the vaccines last week, and he was back in the hospital this weekend with RSV, viral pneumonia, and bronchulitus.I will not get it done next year!!

From what I've read there haven't been any unsafe side effects of the vaccination as of present. HOwever; I personally do not intend to get the vaccinations for my children. The reason being that the only people and children who have actually died from the H1N1 virus were those who suffered from upper respiratory problems, such as asthma. The virus seems to cause complications in their respiratory tract which can result in fatality, but it's not virus itself that caused deaths...simply complications that arose in people who had respiratory problems. My children are very healthy kids, and I feel that if we did get it (God forbid) that we would weather the storm and be just fine without the vaccine. I would recommend that if you child suffers from asthma or any other kid of respiratory complications...getting the vaccine. However, it's ultimately up to you and what you feel is right for you and your family. =) Hope this helps!

Im not having it!!! ive heard there is something in it that can cause problems. Apparently it was used as a solution to morning sickness many years and lets just say the outcome was not good.. So as far as me and my family are concerned it is a no go area.

But in the end its down to you

Absolutely not! I don't think it is not safe, I KNOW it is not safe. I will not put that toxin in my body, let alone my child's. NO one in this house has gotten the vaccine, and even though there were cases here, we are just fine. The swine flu vacc actually makes you MORE susceptible to the disease, because vaccines supress the immune system.

I defiantly am not getting the shot for myself or for my son. I have done some research on it and I have found that the CDC does not reccommend it nor do they know the safety or effecctivness of it. Plus there are various metals in the shot such as mercury. And it is made generally the same way as the regular flu shot, it's just a different variation. I feel that if my son and I are healthy that I do not need to put a virus in our bodies. Especially ones that have metals and mercury in them. My 2 sister in laws are nurses and they both would not have gotten it if it wasn't mandatory for them to. They did not get their children vaccinated either. Plus those who have passes away from it all had underlying causes. It wasn't just from the swine flu. And some of the people I know who did get it, got sick. Just my opinion and some facts. I hope this helps!! Best of luck!!

I got the vaccine at 17 weeks pregnant and both my boys got vaccinated as well. I'd due to have the baby in about 7 weeks and he is doing good. Besides my boys getting colds they really haven't gotten sick. And none of us have had any side effects. So I say it's safe. I also did a lot of research on it before I decided to take it.

Call your local immunisation centre - chances are that it will be in the seasonal flu vaccine for the next flu season if it is expected to hit again. I had mine and it was no different to any other vax. I wouldnt consider it unsafe as they have been making flu vaccine for years - this is just a different strain of the same thing. If you are concerned then find a doctor you trust to discuss the pros and cons.

my opinion is that is has not been out long enough to know what the long term side effects are.. my 2 older kids school was giving them out and half the school did it and the other half didn't and then about 2 weeks after we got calls saying that the shots were recalled. the news portrays it to be this big bad thing but the only people that it is dramatically affecting is the elderly and people who are already sick. think of it this way if you get her vaccinated then your injecting it inside of her at a small dose. so then she will be sick for a couple days with the swine flu or if she gets in naturally then shell be sick for a couple days...why give her something you really no nothing about and hasn't been out long enough to even have been properly studied.....i have 2 doctors and one is for it and the other isn't...this is just my opinion though

my husband and i have had it done and next month my now 5 month old will have his done as well - we had no bad reactions to it (just the usual soreness at the injections site). i know a lot of very young children that have had it and none of them have had any problems either other then a slight fever for a day or two. i'd much rather have him slightly not feeling well for a day or two then being down and out with a full blown case of the swine.

My little one had the vaccine about 2mnths ago now and she was absolutelty fine. The only side effect was that she did get flu symptoms but she got over them after 2/3 days. She had swine flu previously so i thought it was best to get her vaccinated against it.
