I have a 2 month old who absolutely loves her Bumbo. We got the tray for it and put toys up on in and she pushes them around. I think as soon as they can hold their head up well they will be fine.

my daughter used it when she was 4 months old she loved it. we put a pillow behind the chair to support her neck better though. now we use it to give her a bath but it doesnt work well with that because it floats!

i loved it! great for the bath also. when my daughter started crawling she did figure out how to get out of it so always keep an eye on your little one. but they are a good thing to have

My son will be 3 months at the end of the week, and we started using the Bumbo last week because he's been holding his head up since three weeks. He's still a little wobbly, but does really well and loves the seat. I think the age range is dependent on neck strength. If your baby is 4 months old and still having trouble holding his neck up it's not a good idea, but they can use the seat younger if they can hold their head up on their own.

My 9 week old twins have very good head control already so I bought them the bumbo chairs this past weekend.... boy do they love it! I put them in it to look at toys or I put them in different areas around the house to get different views. I Highly recommend it.

i bought one for my second son when he was a baby to help him sit up, but i didn't like it because he couldn't reach anything on the floor. i think with my third one on the way i will get the tray attachment that goes with it, so that it's more useful. but it did help him sit up better.

My son loved his Bumbo seat when he was that age. It is fine to use it as long as your son has control of his neck/head. If he doesn't, he may be uncomfortable for one, and it also would not be very good for his neck. My son was sitting on his own by 5 1/2 months but we still used the bumbo seat when he was playing, etc. Hope this helps.

Absolutely the best baby shower present we got!!!!! Our son does well in it. It's his seat at the table, we feed him in it. :)

I think its a total waste of money . my son would always spit up in it,because it makes them use there stomache muscles to keep upright also he learned to get out of it in a very sort period of time always banging his head. The only upside is that it keeps them off the back off their heads helping to prevent "flat spots"

Ashley - posted on 02/16/2010

I had one for my son and they are awesome! It really teaches them how to sit upright and allows them to strengthen there stomach muscles, however using it until they are 14 moths old is immposible. He got so strong he could wiggle himslf out at about 6 to 7 months. Totally worth the investment! Hope this helps you...its also works great as a highchair if you go to a restraunt, to cut their hair, or when you visitiing and they have no highchairs. It bets having to carry the big one everywhere.

the bumbo was a great thing for us! our daughter is 6 mo and can sit up on her own, but it still is super easy to bring with us anywhere we go! it's great to use for us to feed her, or just put the tray on it and give her some toys to stick to it and she'll play in that thing for hours!!!

i definitely think it's worth the money!

I have twin boys and we had bumbo chairs for them. I had wanted one with my 2 year old but at the time, there was the big bumbo recall so she never got one, and it didn't make a difference, I don't think she would have liked it much anyway.

One of my twins didn't care for it too much as he is very active.

My other twin has cancer and for the longest time he has had physical development issues due to a tumor pressing against his spine. So the bumbo was a great thing for him. After he had surgery to remove part of the tumor, his back was really weak (lost part of his back bone on one side) so sitting up has been a real struggle for him. (He's now 9 months old and is just learning to do this poor guy). But the bumbo has allowed him some "freedom" in the fact that he can sit up without getting too tired or falling over.

Keegan's case is an extreme case...but the bumbo was wonderful for him. I wish I had the attachment tray though!!

I think it all just depends on the type of child you have. Some kids will do better with it than others! One of mine didn't like it (my oldest probably wouldn't have), and my other loves it LOL.

My daughter had recieved one for a baby shower gift, and at first she hated it and then once she got comfortable in it she loved it! I think it all depends on your kids comfort. And now since shes too big for it, she uses it on the floor to prop herself up. I would look around for a deal though since they are kinda expensive! I hope this helps!

I have a 4 month old that I use it with she does not mind it likes being able to look around. But I was told by a pysical thereapist that they are not good for them. They dont help them to be able to sit up on their own and may promote poor posture because they sit more rounded instead of straight up. Short periods of time isn't going to hurt them.

It is great! The baby sits up great and loves the world with her/his new view. You will know when the baby is too big when he/she can lean forward and flip it...that is when you know it is time to give it up. :)

i was told by my babys dr that if they dont hae enough back support(like if they cant sit by you with a little help) then it could ruin their backs by making their back bent....not sure how to explain it, ihave 3 kids(18months, and 2- 6month olds) and i never used it and they are all sitting by them selfs.....but thats just my 2 cents

omg...i had one for my son, he loved it, it allowed him to sit up and look around instead of laying on the floor lookng at the celing...I recommend you to get one...you'll see how much your baby will love it and be able to look around at more tings than just the floor or celing...there also a good seat to sit them in to feed them, and there easy to clean if they get dirty.

not sure if anyone else has suggested this (too many replies to read) - we have a bebe pod boost. It is just like a bumbo, but has an inbuilt harness to strap your baby in and also has a strap to secure it to a chair so it becomes a boost chair so there is no need for a high chair. It comes with a tray, placemat and toy. My son loves his (he is 5 months) and my 4 year old even loves to get in it. I noticed a few people commented on the legs getting stuck with the bumbo, the bebe doesn't have this problem as my son is a large baby (9lb2oz birth weight) and there is plenty of room for chubby legs (even room for my 4yo legs).

I have one and have had it for a while and my 7month old daughter loves it!! HSe started sitting up unaided by about 4 1/2 months. They are also good when you start solids as you can get the table tray for them and they are fantastic. I quite often put her in it with a few toys on the tray while I'm hanging the washing out or getting dinner ready

My baby was using it at 2 months, as soon as he could hold his head up on his own. He loved it!!! He spent a lot of time hanging out in it. Made getting housework done a lot easier! I used it instead of a highchair for awhile because he was to small in his highchair. Took it with us when ever we went out to eat. He stopped using it at 7 months thou. He can still fit in it but he likes to move around to much. Doesn't like being confined for to long and as soon as I put him in it he is trying to get out. But it was worth every penny for the 5 months he did use it.

I've been using one for my daughter since she was 3 months old. She does well in it, but in the beginning she only liked it for 10 minutes at a time max. I think her neck eventually got tired because some babies (including mine) are still building their strengh at 3 months. Now she is 4 months old though, and holding her head up really well and she loves it! We think its a great seat. I went and got her the play tray last week and so far its been a nice addition to it.

Good luck!

One of the few times I use mine is when I have to go to the bathroom! hahaha. I bring the bumbo in and set her in it, and do my business where I can keep an eye on her. It's easier than wheeling the highchair or something in there, and in our bedroom, it's the only thing that's reasonable to have her in.

I think it helps with learning to sit up too.

I reccomend the bumbo to anyone, I use it for feeding now, Gavin was born 7 weeks early, and is still to small for his highchair. The Bumbo teaches babies how to sit and was the best investment for my child.

The bumbo seat is awesome! I bought one for my daughter when she was just 3 months old and she sat in it right away. It really does help them sit up on there own. She was sitting up on her own at 5 months. It is also so easy to travel with so we would take it to resturants and let her sit in that so that instead of just sitting in her car seat or sitting in a dirty high chair. Hope this helps.
