it is just something that i have been wondering. my son Hayden was born a week early. I never had false labor, never really got all that big either. He had a lot of breathing problems, like when he slept and mainly when he ate. my friend told me that b/c of his belly button is mainly an outty that he was born early. just wanted to get other people's opinion to check and see.

My son was born 2 months premature and he had an outie until he was 4 months old only because he had an embilical hurnia but now he has a innie.. I never really heard of anything like that ... but my son did have problems w/ his breathing at birth .. but now he is perfectly healthy is 6 months old and weighs 19lbs! You would never guess he was a preemie!

alright thanks! I've been wondering about and the more i keep thinking about it the more it was making me wonder if the doctor messed up. lol! thanks a bunch!

If your delivery was fast it could also be left mucus that didn't get squeezed out. My son never had this issue because it took me 28 minutes to push him out but my daughter was 15 minutes pushing and she actually stopped breathing when she was 3 weeks old. Worst day of my life but i was a lucky one for sure to be able to get her back. I too have never heard of the belly button and it kind of made me giggle...i'm sure your daughter is fine. We too knew our dates to a T so neither of my kids were born before 39weeks and both have half innies half outies. Samara is right, it just depends on how it's cut and the muscle build up behind it. When a child grows it can go in some because they gain weight. My son was out when he was born and now at 2.5yrs old it's starting to go in more. And look at me! I was tiny when i got pregnant and my belly button wasn't really in that far...it sure as hell is now! and it's not because i was born early LOL!!!

Thanks, my friend was the one that told me that she heard that if the belly button is out that they were early. I knew that really didnt make any since to me, but my main reason for wondering was the weezing during his sleep and gasping for air while he was drink from his bottle. Just really had me thinking if there was a change that he was born earlier then my due date. Thanks a lot. Nice to know that I'm just being silly lol!

Oh and she did have some problems while eating and sleeping. She had trouble figuring out that she needed to breathe through her nose when she ate and when she slept she would turn pale cuz she wasn't breathing right!

I am a nurse and i have never heard such a thing. My daughter has an outty. An outty is due to the way they cut the umbilical cord and the muscle tone behind it! Has nothing to do with how early or late a baby is born. My daughter was born 2 days early. and I know we didnt have the dates off cuz there were only 4 days in that month that i got pregnant that I could of. Hubby was gone for the rest of the month!
