The shortest answer to this question is, no. Don't waste your money. They will fade in time.

I used to buy the vitamin E tablets and break them open and put the Vitamin E oils directly on the stretch marks. Worked wonders!

The genetics story is a myth too! My mom had 4 kids (no marks), my oldest sister has 6 kids (no marks), next oldest sister has one child (no marks), I just recently had my first child and the stretch marks came in the last 3 weeks of pregnancy. The docs said I was carrying too much amniotic fluid, which was causing gestational hypertension. All this fluid gain in the last few weeks caused the collagen in my skin to tear, hence the stretch marks. I have currently been using cocoa butter for stretch marks in the AM, and Bio-Oil in the PM. Bio-Oil actually breaks up the scar tissue to fade the marks, and the cocoa butter moisturizes and firms. I think the two i combination are working pretty well. The smaller marks are already fading well, and it's only been 4 months. The larger ones will take longer, and probably never completely fade. Another plus about the Bio-Oil is that it is great at fading dark spot on your face from acne scars. I apply it at night as well, and my old acne scars are already fading. One plus to having a baby, she helped clear up my acne problem! :)
On a side note, I purchased the store brand of the Bio-Oil. Much cheaper and works just as great!

Bio Oil and 100% Unrefined Shea Butter has done wonders as to fading the two stretch marks I had on my hip. Not 100% gone away but it's a good 95%!

Bio-oil and Palmers really didn't work for me, I could be a freak though lol.
I'm trying Strivectin-SD right now, seems to be working so far. But, it's very pricey, it's a lot less on Amazon.com, but still around 70-80 dollars including shipping. That is the only thing that I've seen that had the best all around reviews.

A cream to remove or prevent stretch marks does not exist.
But Maderma makes a scar creme (which is what stretchmarks are) that helps make them lighter. Making them lighter is all you can do.
I don't mind mine. They're my badges of Mommy-honor!
(No matter what any one tells you, regardless of their experience: There is nothing that can prevent stretch marks. They're tears of the collagen in your skin from rapid stretching. The women who don't get them, don't get them because they used creams or oils. They didn't get them because pre-pregnancy their skin wasn't already stretched with layers of fat or muscle or they gained weight very slowly and steadily.)

Avon has a good one that helps them fade a lot. I believe it is Anew Clinical Professional stretch mark remover. It is in a silver tube worked well for me and with a little tan you can't really tell.

Jolene is right, you can never really get rid of them (unless you get laser scar removal or something), but you can help them fade. bio oil does work for a lot of women, really anything with vitamin e in it. also ive heard of soaking in the tub then rubbing yourself with baby oil when you get out dont dry off just rub it all over your wet skin and let yourself air dry... dont know if it works for sure but i know a few people who do that. also with most women they will fade over time.

You can't ever actully GET RID of stretch marks, only fade them the best you can. Bio-oil works really well. You can find it at Walmart.
